Kaiser Wls Patients
Larry Stuto replied to hayleylamas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did sleeve with Kaiser. No it will not un qualify you. I asked the same question. Had to lose 20lbs. pre surgery. Lost 26lbs. They go by original weight. Good luck. I just hit my goal of 175 from 297. I love my sleeve and have had NO problems. I don't even notice I had surgery except for the amount of food I can eat is so little. Just what I needed. I love the fact that sleeve lets you eat anything you want. The portions was my problem and now it is solved. Bypass surgery restricts you from Dairy and sugers . Not to mention ALL the problems they seem to have after surgery. I think Sleeve is the BEST option out there, Best of luck to you and your new Life/figure/. LOL! -

Getting My Sleeve Monday March 19
Larry Stuto replied to LeeLeeLosing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can still speak the language. You just wont talk as much! LOL. Little portions of what you like. It does not look all doom and gloom to me. The end game is our goal and portion control is my problem and this surgery will give me the tools. Best of luck. You will do fine and still speak the language of food! You will just speak a little softer huh? -
Dr.told me it is different for everyone. Just like pregnancy stretch marks. Some get it some do not? I will cross that bridge when I get to it. 1 thing at a time. Get healthy and look good first. Good luck!

Not Sure Where To Post?
Larry Stuto replied to Solo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just the fact that obese people have stats that say you can lose 10-15 YEARS off your life span if you dont get the weight off. That alone put all the nopeople in my camp back on my side. Best of luck to you. The previous post is correct in my opinion. Just give hubby the facts!. You will be FINE!!!!! in that size 7. -
Could It Be Happening Too Fast?
Larry Stuto replied to kcage's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could only wish It moved that fast for me. But I am patient. I think it is a good idea for you to see if you can postpone just a bit to grasp it. If you can. I was told that being obese could shorten my life expectancy by 10-15 years. That helped a lot with my decision to go forward. Let alone the way I look, feel, getting dressed, looking in the mirror, trying on clothes, putting my socks on. I could go on and on with my struggles. This surgery is the tool I need to get me healthy. Once you find that special reason or reasons for doing it they will be a good motivator when doubt creeps in. Yes it is going fast for you but I think you know what you are capable of or need to do deep inside. Dont worry what others think about THE NEW YOU. If they are not happy for you they are not worth worrying about. I know I cannot diet! And my portion control is outa control! You will have many new friends and experiences after you lose the weight. I wish you the best in any choice you make! -

I Added Negative Findings Of The Operation Because
Larry Stuto replied to hamanyq8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boy that was not his only mistake!! There is no way he will ever amount to any kind of medical personel. No bedside manner,Mad at everyone. I really feel sorry for him. Who knows why he is visiting or posting on this site? Maybe he has been banned from all the other sites? LOL, Oh well. We have eachother to lean on regardless of a few bad apples here. I will never reply to any rants from him after this post and I hope all will follow suit. Silence is the best approach! Wishing all of us great success with our surgeries and new friendships! -

I Added Negative Findings Of The Operation Because
Larry Stuto replied to hamanyq8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am waiting to have my surgery and this site really helps me understand what post-oppers and newbies are going through. I have already adjusted my diet to just under 1200 cals a day just to lose the 15lbs before surgery(11 off in 9 days). I practice chewing till mush,no liquids,30 minutes to eat.Put my utensils down after each bite Ect. Everything I can to get me ready for post op. Taking my vitamins. I also journal every meal,How I felt Ect. These things where asked of me by the program at Kaiser. I should be ready to hit the ground running. Well maybe not running but ready to do what is necessary to make this work. I do not know if all surgery centers are as proffesional or get there patients ready for life after surgery as Kaiser? The only thing that should change for me is the amounts of food and the 400 calories that I will be consuming after surgery. As of now I am doing everything that my program has to get me ready for my new way of eating after surgery. I WILL follow the plan EXACTLEY as asked of me. Why go through all the Mental and Physical pain to struggle or fail? We /you all need to take this seriously and always remember WHY we chose to do this. Especially when you feel down or struggle. Always REMEMBER the END GAME. How AWSOME we are going to look for the first time in Many Years for Me. Good luck to ALL! -

Im Getting There...
Larry Stuto replied to ThinnerTiff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boy things sure work different depending on who is doing the surgery. Im with Kaiser. 1st i had to get blood work done. Then a a 3 hr orientation class. Then came back 3 hrs later to meet with surgeon. Now I go to a nutrition class. After a 10 lb weight loss they schedule a phycsology appoint. then schedule surgery and I have to lose 5 more lbs before then. Suppose to 3-4 month from start to surgery. Wishing you all the success in your new life!! -

Kaiser is about the same. I went 3 years ago and they told me I had to 5'6" to qualify. So he had me skrunch down from my 5'8" 285lbs.and put me through. I lost like 40 lbs in pre-op so I backed out. Glad I did. At that time I was doing the lap band. Now I know that the long term success rate is so bad. Now 3 years later Im back, This time my BMI was 42 and weight was 280lbs. They took me no problem? I have to lose 15lbs pre-surgery. After 10lbs they make a physcology appoint. then schedule surgery and I lose the last 5lbs before. It is tough doing a 1200 cal diet but I see the end goal and keep motivated. Dont know how many times Ive walked to the fridge and turned away. I wish you success with the surgery in Mexico. I have not heard anything bad? Has anyone considered the gastric without surgery? Its a pill or drink? that expands in your stomach for 16 hrs at a time. Giving you the same feeling as having the surgery? It was advertised for $498.00 ?? I put 20 lbs on just to make sure I would qualify. I know I am not able to lose the 115lbs over weight that I am. Tried a 100 times. Good luck to you all and especially WTF. I feel your pain!

Sacramento, calif. Gastric Sleeve. In Pre-Op Now!
Larry Stuto posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a decision! Im with Kaiser South Sacramento. Things movin fast! I have to drop 15lbs pre-op. Im down 10 & waiting for my Sike(physcological) Dr, appointment. They then schedule surgery and I have to lose 5 more LBS. before. Total looks like 3-4 months from start to surgery. On a 1200 calorie now. Not bad but not easy. Man I want a cheeseburger and fry or fish N chips. LOL. Good news is I want a NEW ME MORE!! I was originally sold on the lapband but have been won over by the Gastric Sleeve bypass. Lap band longterm did not appeal to me. Why go through all this to fail. Plus,Insurance only covers 1 surgery so If it failed and they had to take it out I have to pay for the next one. I also found out that It is approx. $100.00 each time they have to fill the port. Insurance wont cover. Anyway I cannot wait to get this ball a rolling. Ive been practicing chewing my food, small bites, taking my time and no liquids when I eat. Started the vitamin supplements too! My Dr. has done over 1000 surgeries with awsome success. So im comfortable. Good luck to all my other newbies!! and Pre-Oppers! Love to stay in touch and share our progress! Email anytime!
