    Body Issues

How much do you weigh now? Are you still in the "normal" range? Are you on the low side? Would it hurt to add 10 or 15 lbs? I agree with PEvette though, you should see someone about this. It can't hurt.
  2. If you look around the board, you will find people tend to hit a stall right around where you are. You are going to do fine. Keep it up!

    Touch Shyness

As far back as I can remember I had the same issue. I realized how big a problem it was when a professor and a very good friend of mine (I worked with her daily for 3 years) asked me if she could put her arm around me for a picture when I graduated college. It makes me feel alienated sometimes. I have to wonder if it will get any better or worse as I lose weight. Strangely enough, I have NO problems with professionals (medical, spa, acupuncture) in any way. Getting a good massage or two might help you a lot. Let us know if you find a legit one and if it helped

    Why Won't They Try?!

I'm not sure what to tell you, but I hope this all gets settled soon. I am sorry that they are being such a PIA and making it difficult.

    About 3 weeks here too.

    Hostility? Why?

I have seen a number of your posts and I completely agree. I am all for information and honesty. Sometimes it is hard, but I don't understand why someone would post and hope for lies. Thank you for sharing your journey!

    Seriously People?

Oh I totally agree that it should go there. I just don't see it on the main forum page. I have to wonder how many times I have just gone by that page

    Seriously People?

I am just the sort of person that uses logic. Things that lack logic confuse me. That does not mean its negative. In many cases my way of thinking comes off as cold. I just prefer to believe that people are smart and that inside themselves, they know the truth even if it makes them angry. I try daily to understand people who process things primarily with emotion. I am not always very good at it, but no matter how old I get, I still find it confusing. It is especially difficult as a female, because people expect me to be really in touch with my emotions and they get upset with me and think I am deliberately being dense to be difficult when I am trying to see their perspective. I, like everyone else, has a right to be able to express my feelings. If these feelings are frustration, then so be it. I see frustration on this board quite often, why should the topic of my frustration be considered negative?

They do exist, but it is probably by far and away the most difficult relationship to find!

    This week....

How many calories you need to burn for weight loss is dependent on how many calories you eat. Everyone is different, find what works for you and stick with it. I completely understand worrying about the semester starting. I am a graduate student. I actually didn't prioritize my workouts until graduate school. As an undergrad, I was on tons of meds and just kept sitting on my butt putting on weight. If you have to wake up earlier, do it. If you have to stop using this site quite as regularly, do it. I have found that waking up a bit early (and I, in my entire life, have never been a morning person) and immediately putting on your workout clothes and getting to it, really sets the tone for my day. I feel good, my mood is better overall and I have found some time from myself. In the morning when I get to class, I am much more alert and don't hit that tired slump about 2 o'clock. Try it for a couple of weeks this summer. You will see what I mean. You have a few months to develop the good habit now and make it a priority. The only way I can manage it, is to schedule it. I pretend like I have an appointment at the times that I set every week. When people try to fill that time slot with something, I just say I have an appointment and schedule it at a different time. Treat it like a class. You have a set time for that class and you are there for it. Good luck prioritizing, that is what undergrad is all about. Learning time management! WTG on what you have already accomplished!

    need to eat more??

4 to 6 weeks for toning weight lifting (small amts. lots of reps). You need to let the muscle wall heal or you could give yourself a hernia.

    "Problem" areas for sleevers...

All of these problem areas are targeted quite well in pilates. I know it is a workout meant for dancer types, but you can do them at home and no one will know If you notice, all of your problem areas (except the pecs) are ones that dancers need good muscle tone in to be able to dance with proper form.

    "Problem" areas for sleevers...

Has anyone seen my 600 lb life? I noticed that when someone loses over 100 lbs it seems to stick around in the thigh and calf region. I don't know why, it seems like that area is fairly well worked for cardio. I am worried about that myself because I was a gymnast and dancer growing up and have always had large muscular thighs. SC, under the arm is a nightmare too. Anyone have any idea how to keep these areas on par with the rest?

Yay! (3 Months, 40 Lbs Down)

Congratulations! I am so happy for you and the new life you have made for yourself!

    Touch Shyness

I have exactly the same problem. I have no abuse issues and am a fairly well adjusted person. I have found that some peoples personal "bubbles" just seem larger than others. I also do not like crowds. I don't know how much the two go together, but it is logical. I find that it is something that I have to stay focused on so that people don't feel rejected. I really have to focus on not taking a step back when someone takes a step towards me. I have been doing it so long it is subconscious, but people pick up on it whether they realize it or not.
  16. Good topic. How long has this been going on? Stop and think, did it start to happen shortly after you started working out? Did it start after you started a particular workout? Do you live in a really humid environment? I have a couple of recommendations. Shower immediately after a workout. If you can change your underwear twice a day, do it. If you changed laundry detergents, switch back. Try to find clothes that make you *ahem* "adjust" less often. How do I know this? My husband is forced to wear a full army uniform no matter what the temperature is (and we live in TX). He calls it swamp crotch. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!
  17. Check out sparkpeople.com they have free videos that you can use to target a specific area for just 10 or 15 minutes a few times a week.

    Pants On The Ground

YAY! Congratulations! I bet you feel wonderful!
  19. Frequently after this surgery we don't eat anywhere near what we should be in calories. Our bodies go into starvation mode. Its an evolutionary adaptation that keeps you from dying when times are tough. If you can somehow increase your calories just a bit that may help. You have to convince your body that you aren't starving it (that can be a trick because that is exactly what you are doing). I am 6 weeks out and have only lost 2 lbs in the past 14 days. I hit a 10 day stall and have only lost 1 lb in the past 4 so believe me I know what you mean. This is why I needed the surgery, weight doesn't come off me quickly. It is frustrating, but the good news is, once that pound is gone, it is gone. I know that I will never see it again. In my case, I think my body has gone into starvation mode. I have a lot of Native American in me and that makes weight loss even harder. Their bodies are EXCELLENT for storing fat to help them survive in the cold or when times are lean. Unfortunately, in our society, I don't have to worry about either and that causes weight loss issues. If it makes you feel any better, I am 30 lbs down and not a single person has even noticed. At least you have people commenting on how great you are doing. Look at that as one of your motivators and keep up the good work. If you lost 40 lbs you have literally lost almost a whole lb per day since you started your journey.

    Slimes Every Night

Reflux maybe? Try taking some tums before bed and see what happens.
  21. Cold made my stomach spasm too. Room temp was okay, but warm felt really good.

    Sleeping ....

I was the same way at first. I put a king size pillow on my side and leaned into that. It kept me from going completely over, but it helped me feel like I was lying on my side so I slept better.

    Ds?

I chose the sleeve for many of the same reasons as Lissa. Also, if you ever need to get a scope to see your stomach, it can no longer be done. They cannot access your stomach if necessary, they can only get as far as the pouch.

    Bougie Sizes?

I have a very long torso, so I have just a bit more room than some people. It is interesting the things you learn about anatomy on this site!
