    Red Lobster

Fish cooked properly really shouldn't taste fishy. As a matter of fact, tuna is more "fishy" than properly prepared fish should ever be. I'm always sad when people get turned off to seafood because their first exposure was poorly prepared. Kept me from eating fish for YEARS. So glad I learned differently. It is a great lean Protein that can easily take on the flavor of whatever you prepare it with.

    Still Hungry A Month Later

You are not necessarily doing anything wrong. However, journaling what you eat is highly recommended while you reprogram your brain. If you stop and think about it, 22 lbs in a month is amazing! Don't get on yourself, its a learning process and we all lose differently.

Is there an April page? We wound up with so many pages of posts here I never went through them all.

    Period During Surgery?

Thats exactly when I got my period too. Just tell them when you check in and they will give you ugly surgical panties with a huge pad. It won't stop anything.

This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)

yeah sorry, love you guys, but I seem to frequently do that...
  6. I have always been a veggie lover. However, even though I didn't despise carrots, I didn't really like them. I never in my life would touch them cooked. About 3 weeks ago, I started having RAGING desires for carrots. I bought a bag of baby carrots (which I had done a hundred times before and if my bird didn't eat them, they went bad). I developed a habit of eating 10 medium baby carrots as a nighttime snack (after I got in all my protein). I dip them in 2 tblspns of light dressing of some kind. Last night, I didn't have any carrots left. I actually was rather grumpy for the entire night and was waiting for today so that I could pick up some more carrots. My husband and I think that I must be low on Vitamin A. I have been taking my Vitamins religiously and continue to crave this thing that I never really liked for the first 32 years of my life. Every time I open my fridge I am glad I have my carrots for after my Protein is in. I even stopped eating my well loved salads so that I can munch on carrots. This is SO strange. Has anyone else started liking something they previously weren't a fan of? Did it become a favorite? Is it something you think about often?

    For The Slow Losers

I'm sorry no one has noticed. If you got used to wearing baggy clothes it can make it hard to tell for others until your clothes are falling off you. The bigger I got, the more I hid from people so now that I have dropped the quitting smoking weight, I am seeing those people more often again. To them, I haven't changed at all. However, the other day I ran into some people that I saw literally the week before surgery and they had some wonderful comments. Hang in there, sometimes we keep the weight and just manage to re proportion. Keep up the good work. There is no way YOU haven't noticed your success yet right? You are all that matters! Just out of curiosity, how are you doing with your Protein intake? Do you take Biotin or any other supplements?

Day 2 Post Op And "dying"

Are you taking tiny sips? Have you tried something warm instead of room temp? Cold did not do well by me for about 2 weeks post op. If you can't get anything in I would call your doc. The biggest worry post op is dehydration.

    Carrots?!

I'm not. However, I only have room for so many things in a day. My priority is protein. After that, I don't have a lot of room for anything else.
  10. I love how with each picture you look more and more sassy. You can literally see the confidence increase in each picture. You are beautiful. If you don't lose a single lb from this point on, you will still be healthy, happy and sexy!

    Could This Happen To Us?

The esophageal lining is made up of the exact same stuff that the remaining part of our stomach is made up of. I'm going to save any comments for a more respectable article. What is the Daily Mail anyway? Don't give any credence to someone (or their editor) who not only misspells esophagus, but won't even own up to their own article. The only author I see here is named Daily Mail Reporter.

    Raw Veg!

I have been eating raw veggies since March 19th (about 5 and a half weeks out) and dairy since about a week out. My tummy makes strange sounds with dairy now, but a gas x strip eliminates that problem. Never any pain with either.

    Carrots?!

I started raw about 3 weeks ago. I chew them well, but I chew everything well now, and I have never had any issues. I wish I could have more veggies, but I just don't have room! Its hard to get in all the veggies I want anymore. It is really the only thing that makes me angry about this surgery. If that is the worst of my problems, I won't complain too much

    Spicy Foods?

I already eat spicy foods with no problem other than finding a level that I don't feel the need to drink occasionally while I am eating. I make chili every other week and it tends to be very spicy, at first I had to go light until I adjusted to no fluids, but I'm fine with whatever I want now. The other day I had Thai pineapple curry and it was glorious

Last we heard she was going into surgery? I hope she pops back on soon
  17. Yellow Stool Yellow stool can indicate that food is passing through the digestive tract relatively quickly. Yellow stool can be found in people with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Symptoms of GERD include heartburn, chest pain, sore throat, chronic cough, and wheezing. Symptoms are usually worse when lying down or bending. Foods that can worsen GERD symptoms include peppermint, fatty foods, alcohol, coffee, and chocolate. Yellow stool can also result from insuffient bile output. Bile salts from the liver gives stool its brownish color. When bile output is diminished, it often first appears as yellow stool. If there is a greater reduction in bile output, stool lose almost all of its color, becoming pale or grey. If the onset is sudden, yellow stool can also be a sign of a bacterial infection in the intestines. http://altmedicine.about.com/od/gettingdiagnosed/a/stools.htm

    Frustrated With My Spouse

I went for a walk every day when my husband was cooking. I am usually the one to cook, but he handled it for a while pre and post op. Post op, I didn't care as much though. When I did, I just took some time to get the evening air (I didn't want to walk too far alone until about 2 weeks out)
  20. Same happened to me. You are one of the lucky ones No worries.

Water Hurts Going Down, Any Advise?

Warm worked better for me than anything else. Be careful with that straw though. I use them now all the time at 8 weeks out, but I was afraid of too much gas early out.
  22. Lissa, I can't think of a more amazing NSV than that one. Congratulations! The world is a better place with you in it

Why Does The Elliptical Kick My Butt?

I am the opposite, I prefer the elliptical, but get a much better workout on the flat treadmill. Because I don't want the high impact, when I do the elliptical I make it harder by doing 10 minutes forward, 10 minutes backward and repeat. You wouldn't believe what going backwards does for your butt!
