I still go out to eat with my co-workers - I just chose healthy choices. It's really for the company and not for the food.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Randi replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
UK Cathy - I can totally relate. I just turned 50, am 65 pounds down and have 55 left to go. I think I have been 65 pounds down for about a month now. I am happy to be where I'm at and know that it will happen, I just have to be patient!! I'm not as strict in my diet as others seem to be, but I'm pretty good. Life is meant to be lived and I'm so happy I have learned much better eating habits and that my bloodwork is now perfect! My doctor is thrilled so I guess I will be too! -
Dexter - don't get too down on yourself (and your friends). People get busy and not everybody wants to be a cheerleader. It sounds like you do a lot for other people and that's great. Not everybody can do that. My husband had back to back brain surgeries in 2010, was in the hospital for almost 6 weeks and only 1 member of his family and 2 of my relatives came to visit him. I was heartbroken but people are people and you have to take them for what they are.

Sleeved Patients W/ Pcos
Randi replied to tqmeri30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't get my period until age 15 and then only every 6 months or so unless I was on the pill. After surgery I got it at weird times (even though I was on the pill) - so don't be surprised at that. It's just your hormones readjusting. It's the sugar and the carbs that causes problems for PCOS and when they decrease so much it kind of throws you for a loop. I also got very cranky, but that didn't last too long. I'm 49 so I'm not losing to get pregnant, just to get healthy. I just wish I didn't have so many stalls!!! -
Office Competition... I'm So Evil!
Randi replied to ArcusX's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's a very interesting question. Just know that at some point, if you join the contest, you will have to fess up and everybody will know. If that's OK with you, then cool! And, know that it will definitely spark the debate over whether it's the easy way out or not. -

Wontons Vs Bread
Randi replied to Angie was Sleeved 08/31/12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are a ton of things to make with these and they are really good!!! As far as making them in muffin pans, I would go with the regular muffin pan vs. the mini-muffin pan because then you will eat more of the protein than the won tons. -
That made me sick - so sorry you had to go through that. Soon it will be a whole new world for you!!

Gallbladder Comes Out Today

Good Luck with your surgery!!! I'm happy I'm a slow loser..... -
No regrets. The surgery was a breeze for me, not much pain at all. The recovery time was really because I needed a lot of rest to heal. The hard part for me was to realize that although you can really eat whatever you want (after a couple months) you really shouldn't it you want to lose. I do eat bad stuff sometimes, but only in moderation. At first I kept making the same things for me and my husband and I could hardly eat anything so he would eat the rest - gained weight, got mad. Now I have changed my cooking habits and it's much better. You get to the point where you don't crave the bad stuff - I was a huge carb eater before and now it's protein, protein, protein. The best part is fitting into all those clothes you couldn't before and getting off the meds because you are getting smaller and healthier. I was super nervous and excited at the same time. You won't regret it!!!

I am about 10 1/2 weeks out from surgery and have lost 40 pounds. My husband seemed very supportive of me and says he's happy for me and he's proud of me, etc. We have had sex twice since my surgery. He's been sleeping in another room - which he used to do when I snored which I don't do anymore (or so he tells me). He doesn't say anything but I think he's annoyed that I don't cook dinner very often anymore and that when I do he ends up eating 80% of it and is gaining weight. Another thing, my husband is special. He has a brain injury and can't work. HIs memory is horrible and he also can't drive. He hates being trapped at home all day and really hates it when I call him the house husband. HIs brain injury was in 1987 and we got married in 2008. I knew about his physical problems from the start. Maybe that's why it seems like I have a roomate now instead of a husband.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

I´ve been stalled as well, but believe that is self induced. I am down from a 22-24 to a 16-18 so am happy about that!! We finally got our treadmill fixed so no more excuses there. I´ve been doing aerobics in the pool on the weekends but a terrible lazy ass during the week. Now that summer is officially over maybe I´ll be more inclined to stay on track. I want to thank everybody here for your support!!! -
I am 4 months out and have only lost 52 pounds, so I'm behind you!! I have been on a three week stall and feel huge today!! I laughed when a coworker told me I looked really skinny. I'm like - um, 210 pounds on a 5' 3" gal is skinny? Compared to 262 pounds I guess it is. We all have our good days and our bad ones. Try not to think about what others say or what you THINK they are thinking - you are most likely way off base. I hope you can get your mindset it a better place. We're here for you!!

When Can I Drink?
Randi replied to MsDallasSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only waited 6 weeks and it tasted terrible. I'm over 4 months out and enjoy a couple glasses of wine at night. Hard liquor is best to try at home - it seems you can't really control it like you used to. It's best to embarrass yourself on your home turf if you know what I mean!!! -
OMG, I am so sorry!!! People are so rude i can't believe it. I bet you would have liked to smack her upside the head!!! You have plenty of friends here!!!
-
I can only have their soups.....used to LOVE the bagels with cream cheese and the bagel breakfast s/w. Not it would make my hurl.
-
I had 4 mini muffins - made from eggs, sausage, green chilis and cheese. YUMMMMM
-
YES - it is hard, but you'll get it. I don't always wait the full 30 minutes before a meal, but I try to go 30 minutes after a meal.
