OMG-I have been worried about that too and I am an anatomy teacher. I never realized how far the xyphoid process sticks out. I had to look at my skeleton at school. I am also amazed at how huge my hip bones are!!!

How are you doing with your water. Make sure you are getting enough. Also try to minimize the sodium intake. Our bodies like to do this to tease us. You'll step on the scale soon and see you are down 3 lbs!!!!

New Balance rocks-wide and comfy!

I have always used a good bit of Splenda and still do-but I have had the horrible gas since I was banded 6 months ago!

We all know this is not the easy way out of obesity. We need to follow our doctors orders as closely as we can. Perfection is not excellence. We can have excellent results without being perfect. Your weight loss future is in your hands-take responsibility for doing the very best you can and don't worry about perfection! And by the way-I don't envy those of you who were banded right around the holidays-It must make compliance so much harder! A peaceful, pleasant weightloss journey to all!

Is it possible to really vomit with the band?
trystelle replied to tansey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone vomits at one time or another-If this endangered the band almost everyone would have problems. It is natural to be worried, but this really doesn't seem like it should be a deciding factor IMHO. -
Pain, gastric reflux, inability to get food down or very limited capacity, inability to swallow liquids. Best to call your doc if you are having a problem!

gas - will it ever end?
trystelle replied to caryla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know, but at 6 months out I still have problems with excessive and potent flatulence. Often it is accompanied by sharp cramping like you have with diarrhea, but that is not the issue. Anybody have thoughts on this or is this something I need to learn to live with? -
How about Uvula? Suitable for a biologist, no? And it sounds vaguely sexy!

I have had the same experience with underwires. They used to hurt and tear through the cloth. It is much better since I have lost weight. I really need the underwire because the girls are long and skinny now.

If it is so easy why don't they do it?????????:eyebrows:

Missy- I still use the Daily plate-I just put in a food called 100 calories into the bodybug data base and put in the number if calories I have recorded in Daily Plate. Body Bugg journaling s*cks. I complained to my coach, maybe someday they will improve it.

Banded Today and Have a Question
trystelle replied to jsp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take a deep breath!!! You are doing fine. I am sure that you have not damaged your pouch. Put away the dannons for a week or 2 and stick with straight liquids. The reason we don't drink with our food is so it doesn't get washed down too quickly. This is really not an issue while you are on liquids. Reread your diet instructions, get a good night sleep and remember you will be sore in the morning, don't try to get up or even sit up too fast. Take your time. Enjoy your New year!</p> -
8cc fill w/ a 10cc band...y am i still hungry???
trystelle replied to Karen85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lot's of folks get what are called soft stops. They are signals that the band gives to stop eating. Some burp or hiccup, some even get a runny nose. This is a good time to stop eating. Often the next signal is the golf ball feeling. I have a VG band (up to 14 cc's) and it seems that my restriction only lasts about a month and then I need another. I am currently eating about 1500 calories a day and am losing 2 lbs a week. But I struggle not to eat more than this so I know I need a fill! Unfortunately my doc is on vacation so I will have to wait 3 more weeks! -
What are the crtiteria for being a "vet"?

NSV-I went into the Misses dept at JCPenney and Macy's
trystelle replied to Crishell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally understand!! You and I have a lot in common. I remember wearing size 18 in eighth grade. I am also making the transition into misses clothing. A friend gave me a load of sweaters and even the Larges fit!!! I was so excited I told my husband that I fit in a large. He gave me a smile but didn't seem to realize waht an event this was-so I said a real large-not a fat large!!!!! It is nice to know there are others that understand how monumentous (SP?) this moment was!!! Happy New year and here's to size medium!!!!!! -
Big Losers...do you count/watch your fat intake?
trystelle replied to marieze's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I keep track of calories. I try to make good food choices and I usually do fine with the fat. If there is a low fat alternative that is tasty, I use it. Lots of stuff like chicken sausage, fat free pudding, reduced calorie mayo is on my menu. One thing I usually don't compromise on is cheese. It is one of my staple foods and with the exception of the laughing cow cheeses I go for full fat but keep quantities in check. It is sugar and white carbs that I have to watch! -
Clothing fitting differently/buying new styles? (Low-rise is strange!)
trystelle replied to hlyndes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love the layers. You are right, the bottom shirt is usually fairly long. Often the top layer is low cut. Since I have lost weight I tend to be cold so this works well for me. It is so rare that something is practical and stylish! -
Blowing It With Christmas Goodies
trystelle replied to lapedtolive's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also indulged on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I really enjoyed myself and did so in moderation. Eating the foods I did was really a treat! I used to eat this kind of food all the time, so eating it on Christmas was not a special treat. This year it was! Today is the 26th and its a new day and I plan to pick up just where I left off. I almost feel like a normal eating person! -
In 2006 my NYR was to research about the band and make a decision if it was the right thing for me. In 2007 it was to get banded and it looks like 2008 may be the year I reach goal!!! I also vow tho appreciate my family more.
