I am 2 weeks post op and well past the post op gas pains. But for the last two nights I have had tons of gas. I am constantly (pardon) burping and farting. It has been bad enough to keep me from sleeping with strong cramps in my lower belly. My eating hasn't changed-I am on mushies. Any ideas?:cry

I had similar surgery 10 years ago for gall bladder and those scars are barely noticable. They are perfectly flat and look like lines of skin a little lighter than the skin around them. You wouldn't notice unless you looked. I put vitamin E oil (from inside a vitamin E capsule) a couple of times a week.

Prescription Meds ????????
trystelle replied to PAPITORO's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also on several meds for depression and reflux and they even told mr to take them on the day of the surgery. I reviewed with my prescribing doc whether she thought i should stop for a while and she said no. I had to take one in liquid form and another had to be cut in half. Does your regular doc know that you are off your meds? I would check with her to see what s/he thinks befor your next visit with the surgeon. -
Ashley- <p>This may sound gross but fruit type baby food is great. The fiber doesn't hurt either!

I find that I can make a great protein shake with the standard protein powder, soy milk, ice and a tablespoon of fat free, sugar free pudding mix. The pudding makes the shake thicker with more staying power and adds very few calories.

When were you banded? Have you had a fill recently? -
It's been 5days-when does pain end???
trystelle replied to bradskoam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might need to be more forceful. I would be concerned about the pain (not that I am a doc or anything but better safe). Make it clear that you want to see the doctor-that you are not just calling for more meds. I think its worth checking out. At 5 days post op-i was comfortable-everybody is different though. Let us know what happens. -
Made it through day 2!!!....headaches.....

Maybe you are suffering from caffeine withdrawal? -
You can try Any Whey-I got mine at GNC. I wouldn't mix it with water, but I have mixed it in with my shakes, broth, mashed potatoes etc.

You are going throught the worst today. Keep doing what you are doing and you will feel noticeably better tomorrow. The doc explained that its like a car accident-it hurts more the next day-but every day from here on out will be markedly better. I am 7 days out and would say I am about 95% back to my old self-Hang in-IT WILL GET easier.

I was worried as well by day three with no BM. I used a Glycerine suppository to get things moving. It worked, but not much to move. Since then it is only little bits every day or two-guess that's what a liquid diet will do!

I am a high school science teacher in New England. I teach Anatomy to 11 & 12 grades. I have been at it for 15 years and really love my job. I was just banded on 7/13. All has gone very well. I feel good, I am exercising again but eager to get off liquids. I too, have been concerned about eating lunch, but I eat with friends who all know about the surgery so that should be ok. I just hate to have to leave the room if I am sick-Never turn your back on a room full of adolescents!!!!! Look forward to hearing from all of you. Happy banding!

help 2 days post - op
trystelle replied to SweetJephy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Friday and I am so much better-YOU will be too. Going without pain meds must be so hard. But you have been through the worst. Most people only need the "big guys" for a couple of days and then switch to tylenol so the tylenol should be more helpful soon. If you have someone ther to help you--let them. Getting up is the worst part of walking-take your time and do your best. It will be better starting today!!!!!! -
I had my surgery on Friday. Are you on any pain meds?

I feel like that too!:omg:

Need Name of Non-flavored Protein powder please
trystelle replied to Chele's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been using Vegie Power from Twin Labs. I got it on Amazon.com, It has 30 g of protien per serving. -
I am so with you. I feed like an old woman. Sitting and walking are not too bad, but geting up an down (specifically up from bed) can be slow and painful. I walked a total of about a mile yesterday. I feel like my gas is in control. Now to work on the abdominal soreness and sore throat from the breathing tube. Good thing I know that this tool will be soooo worth it. On the other side I am not hungry and have to set a timer to get all my protein drinks in. It feels so good not to be driven by hunger:whoo:

Best of luck to you lindaa-hope your adventure goes smoothly! My naseau is gone now and I am feeling pretty good. I was up 6 pounds today too. Glad to know that this is how it works for everybody. That way I don't feel worried or upset. As far as the burps go, I have been brewing tea with chunks of ginger. I strain them out of course, but it does bring some comfort.

I am now officially a bandster. Was in the hospital for about 13 hours yeaterday. all went well. I have been struggling with some naseau (sp?), but am improving. Getting out of bed this morning was tough, but I am feeling better each hour. I have been out walking (5-10 minutes, nice and slow) 3 times today. Once again thank you all for your kindness, advica and support. I am so thrilled to be part of this group.:biggrin1:

I am glad I am not the only one that feels that way--I suspect the others must be taking notes!

Well tomorrow is the day for me. I thought that I would be more nervous. I just can't wait until the morining comes so I can get on with it. I took my last yoga class last night and realized it might be quite a while before I can get back to it. That makes me sad-but I am taking no chances on a slip or a flip. Anybody else do yoga? What are your plans for getting back to it. My thoughts are with you all-recovering or waiting!
