weight challenge - Thanksgiving to New Years Eve
trystelle replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had a surgery date since August so I figured I shouldn't waste the time I have until my surgery(less than 3 weeks away!). I'm doing Atkins/low carb and I feel great when I'm on it. It works....until you stop, everyone knows the routine. My motivation has been that as soon as I get the band, all that weight will never come back as opposed to gaining it all back when I get tired of it (like I did last time). This is exactly what I did and for the same reasons. Never too soon to establish new and healthy habits!!!!! Congrats on your success!:clap2: -
I have 18 pounds to go-I have not been in wonderland since college (23 yrs ago). I am starting to get excited. According to my calculations I should arrive sometime in March. Huge congrats to those who have made it:clap2::whoo:

Have you lost 24 pounds in 2.5 months? If so that is awesome and above the 1-2 lb a week to be expected. Be patient with yourself-This is not a quick fix but a permanent fix. Congrats on the lbs lost!

After my surgery I was also very constipated. I used an old fashioned glycerine suppository and it worked fine. I did not want to take anything that would stress my digestive sytem or cause cramping. Also my doctor had me on stool softeners, perhaps you can ask your doctor if either of these is a good idea for you.

With all the bickering about Christmas and the reason for the season...
trystelle replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Rants & Raves
Thanks that was very interesting! -
I eat when I am hungry, about 6 small meals a day. If I wait to long I get cranky hungry-where I really feel I need to eat something soon. I usually keep a protein bar handy and plan my food in advance.

I don't know how you do it.....I tried
trystelle replied to soozan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There are several potential problems with drinking while eating. One reason is that the liquid will thin the food, making it pass through the stoma faster, thus making you hungry again faster. Some people get stuck if they drink while eating. The pressure of the extra liquid pushes the food to block the stoma. This will sound funny, but things are different when you are banded. I used to feel like I couldn't eat without drinking. I now think it was because I was eating so much so fast. I needed to rinse it down to make way for yet more food! I don't miss not drinking at meals in the least. It might be easier for you than you can imagine right now! -
Every 10 pounds I buy myself some sort of "exercise reward" sneakers, exercise DVD, yoga suit-that way I get a reward and have something new to motivate me to exercise. Right now I have a Walk Away the Pounds DVD on my dresser-I have to lose a half pound more to use it-so hopefully I will "get" it in the next day or 2. I have been looking forward to using it for a week!

You are gonna love it!

Just to get a little defensive-you cannot compare a nursing job with a teaching job. They are apples and oranges. I spend many hours in addition to my time in school every day. I go in at 6:30 and oftern stay until 4:30 and take work home. This is the hard part, sometimes I long for a job that stops when I leave work. As A teacher I am never done. There is always more to do. I want to be the very best teacher I can be for my students and that means working many extra hours. I also review my curriculum and do some sort of professional development every summer. You are right-having summers off is great. Not having to go into work on weekends is great (But I do still do my school work). Having holidays off rocks! I teach anatomy and physiology to 160+ students a year. Most are 16-18. It's a very hard job. But after 15 years I still love it. That is what matters most!

Liquid pre-op diet???? Who knew?????
trystelle replied to exactly150's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor did not require a pre op diet. DIfferent doctors have different recommendations. My Doctor is very liberal about diet restrictions. Best to do what your Doctor recommends. You have to have faith! -
How important is it that the pre-op diet is liquid?
trystelle replied to Fanny Adams's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What really is important is being willing and able to comply with your Doctor's orders. Every doctor seems to be different, but success will be forthcoming is you treat yourself well! -
band cut my stomach open too tight

Hope that you find a speedy resolution to this problem Keep your chin up! -
Sorry I don't know any promo codes! I have had my bugg for 2.5 weeks and I LOVE it. I have lost 7 pounds. I look forward to seeing my progress each day. I definitely do exercise more, especially the little stuff and the chores. I am actually excited to go out and shovel snow!!! I love seeing the numbers and seeing them makes me confident that I am doing a great job!!!

It is soooo much easier to exercise now and with each workout it will get easier for you too. I do some sort of exercise every day. Sometimes I walk, jog, do yoga or dance on my mini trampoline. I remember watching people jog by my house and wondering how the heck do they do that-why would they do that-Now I know how they feel. Like any major time commitment, you have to plan-but that's the hard part now. I actually enjoy my exercise!! Start slow but keep pushing yourself a little at a time and you will see too.

Support forum for the positive aspect of banding only

We write what we choose to write. Negative posts don't get censored out. Maybe you see much positive because many people are happy with their band. Sorry if you are not happy with yours. -

Mine have gradually improved since my July surgery, but seem they they will never get back to normal. I hate when you bend and one pops out without warning. I teach at a school with 85 minute periods and have to go into the bathroom during my breaks just to burp and fart!!!!!! Yet I would do it again in a heart beat, more gas for less a**, you betcha!:bounce:
