When Did You Return To Work?
petal replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery on thursday 10th May 2013.. drove myself home from hospital on the saturday.. felt good enough to go back to work on the monday.. I am a hairdresser so on my feet all day , but have staff to fill in and only did a few selected "easy clients" so not to over do things and had lots of breaks.. and mainly did appointment bookings ect.. all of last week was like that but back to full on the floor as of tomorrow.. hopefully I wont exhaust myself to much.. but will have breaks and sit down as needed ..actually have been very pleasantly surprised at how great i do feel, hope it continues this way ..good luck with your surgery x -
3 Pre-Surgical Cheats - No More!

well for me I didnt do the liquid diet at all.. naughty i know but oh well... i think they only make you do to get you motivated to loose a few pounds before the op to make it "safer' when you are under maybe.. also remember reading somewhere in my research of all of this (going to have to hunt it out now) that it doesnt neccessarly shrink the liver.. "only could help".. anyway that being said i told my doc i didnt do it and he wasnt too fazed , just shrugged and said make sure i stick to liquids after op.. been a week today and still doing liquids, no desire to eat actual food yet, even cooked the family a roast with all the trimmings and normally the smell would have me picking at it before i served it, but lucky for me still no desire for it.. all went fabulous with the op and still doing fab now .. no problems at all.. hope all goes well with your x -
yip yip horaay.. well done x

I was very lucky.. had my op at 8.30am last thurs 10th may.. by 2pm i was up walking around going to the bathroom on my own ect.. but prob because of the pain meds lol,, day 2 they removed iv and only gave me panadol, was a little uncomfortable with gas, but again walked to go for my leak test,, was going nuts because i thought i should have been in so much more pain and asked if they were giving me something more than panadol for pain.. they wernt.. wanted to go home that night but doc wasnt around to release me so had to wait til sat morning.. 8.30am sat morn doc came no more gas pain , he realeased me and i drove myself home,, spent sat / sun resting then felt good enough to do some work (i am a self employed hairdresser) i did have staff to cover me just in case,, so only did a select few customers that are not high demand,,,,however i also know when to rest up so definatly am not over doing it..also wounds a little itchy from healing, , but all in all i feel great,,, thank the lord .. I think everyone has different pain levels too but from what i understand and from friends that have had same surgery it can be really painful.. remember also you have just been sliced and diced and its still early after your op...i hope you start to feel better soon.. sending hugs and prayers that the pain will be gone very soon xxx

oh my goodness.. i feel that this is me.. i have been reading all these forums trying to put into words exactly how i have been feeling and then you pop up with exactly what i have been thinking... my lapband failed me and 4wks go i had it removed so i could do the revision to sleeve, i go in on 10th May for my revision and have been stressing ever since my band removal that i am doing the right thing..(before band removal i was confident i was ) since removal i have gained 4kg(12kg total gain since christmas when the band totally busted) and a part of me knows that i can not regain much more or it will be a case of more to loose.. however i have also been made more nervous because my doc says he is perfectly happy with current weight and the gain .. (go figure that one) and he started explaining all the risks again and asking if i would like to just try another new band, and sleeve is permanant , higher risk etc, and really made me start to second guess myself.. but after reading everyone else responses i am feeling sooo much better.. so thankyou for your posts and all the responses

Surgery Scars For Band Revision To Sleeve?
petal replied to HBskinnygirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I just had my band removed last friday and apart from one incision just above a little tiny old scar my doctor used the same scars to remove my band.. i hope when i get the sleeve he will use the same ones again, but if not all good,, . just a question to anyone else out there that has hand band removal, did anyone suffer pain in left front shoulder especially when you breath in too deeply??? its quite painfull at times.. cheers -
Ok so I am no alcholic but do enjoy a occasional drink on weekends if i have friends over or if i go out,, but I have been told that you are not supposed to have any alcohol EVER again.. was wondering if this is true and if not when when will I be able to have my glass of red again??

well I just like the odd drink every know and again so its good we dont have to give it up altogether...70lbs loss from your wife that is awsome definatly something you and her should be very proud of.. I go in tomorrow for my lapband removal so a little nervous tonight eeek..

ok so i am new to this so forgive me if i dont do or say something correctly.. I am currently banded but going in on the 16th March to have it removed and a sleeve revision done later in the year but I am so worried I am doing the wrong thing, I have been following a lot of posts over the last year and doing lots of research but i guess what I am asking for is the reassurance that the sleeve is so much better than the band.. would love to hear from others that had the revision and why?? cheers

Lapband To Sleeve Is It As Good As Everyone Says?
petal commented on petal's blog entry in petal's Blog
thankyou so much for your answers,, the reason I have to wait to get revised is because that what the doctor wont do removal and sleeve at the same time, apparantly more complications and risks of leaks,, if i could have it all done at once i would and save going under again,, but only have to wait 8weeks in between so not that bad really..very excited and scared at the same time... -
Considering Vsg A Year After Band Removed....
petal replied to Vicki0618's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi I am new to this site and have been reading on band to sleeve revision,, for the last 2 yrs this is something I have been considering but been to scared to do,, so finally i stumble on to this wonderful site and finally getting the reassurances that I needed to take the leap and do the revision..I am now booked in on 16th of march to remove the band and will be revised 2 months after that.. please please tell me I am doing the right thing, so sick of the restrictions, reflux, etc associated with the band..please tell me that I can eat out with friends and not have to excuse myself to dash off to the ladies to regurgitate blocked food only to return redfaced and making excuses as to why I ran off...cheers
