Smoggy, I went through the bariatric surgery unit at Royal Hayat hospital here in Kuwait. Dr Osama did my surgery, but I have met the whole team and they are all very good! I am very happy with my experience so far and have lost about 12 kg ( will know officially tomorrow, as I will have my 2 week post op check up)!
  2. The decision will ultimately be yours. And there are a lot of arguments for trying to conceive now and against it. I got pregnant when my BMI was 45. My OB told me that I had to go through my pregnancy without gaining more than 14 pounds. I went to a dietitian and with her help and the help of my OB I weighed the same on the day I went into labour as the day I found out I was pregnant. Despite all this, I had to start taking blood pressure medication when I was 22 weeks pregnant. And today I have a beautiful, healthy toddler running around the house and climbing on everything! I would desperately want another child, but because of my weight, I decided get sleeved before trying to conceive number 2 as I do not want to struggle with blood pressure again during pregnancy and I am struggling keeping up with one toddler, so I can't imagine running after 2 kids at my current weight! Good luck with whatever you decide and I wish you a full term, healthy pregnancy for when you are pregnant!

    Secret

I told my close family and friends about it, and interestingly every one I told either had a friend or family member who had a weight loss surgery or was thinking of getting it. It helped a lot to get info, cause there is not a lot online about getting surgery here in Kuwait. That said after my awesome first week, I decided everyone should know, so I posted it on Facebook, and let whoever want to judge, judge! My body, my decision!
  8. So I went for my first follow up appointment with the doctor today, and it went great! They (team of surgeons and a nutritionist) are very happy with my progress. The official weight loss for week 1 is ( drumroll please).................. 20 pounds!!!! I am ecstatic about that and very motivated for the rest of my journey!!! I was also given the go ahead to start on the baby food, so that is one step closer to the sorely missed crunchy food!!! And I had my first Protein shake today, and it went down easy and seems to be staying down!! This board has been an awesome inspiration and source of information, and for that I thank all of you, my fellow sleevers!
  9. What an amazing victory! Congratulations!

  12. I had my surgery on 20 Feb 2012 and I lost almost 19 pounds (8,5kg)! Living with my sleeve for almost a week and loving it already!
  13. I have a friend who is a nurse at the leading maternity hospital here in Kuwait and she advised that we wait for the full year after surgery before trying for a baby. She says they have a lot of people who have complications because they get pregnant too soon after getting the sleeve. However, I think the best thing to do is to consult with your OB and your bariatric surgeon as each persons body is different and heals differently.
