Progress Not Perfection... But.....
audi920 replied to gettinthinner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello again ~ I've got two years on you! I never even thought about the 'boobs' part or the wrinkled face. Maybe if I keep using the Retin-A, it'll be of some help. I guess it's common sense that as we age, our skin is far less elastic Wish the surgery would've been easily accessible 20 years ago!!. Everytime I hear someone mention age, as related to the surgery, I cringe!! I keep telling myself it's the health aspect, but I hope the day will come when it won't take 6 hours of shopping trying to find something that won't make me look fat! I AM fat, so how do I even imagine I could not look fat? Where is a garment like that? I wouldn't need the surgery if I could find one - ha! ha! Can't wait til this is a distant memory, but my inusrance requires a 6 month diet and I have 5 more to go Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. You've lost an awesome amount of weight in a short time!!! But I get what you're saying - stalls are not fun! -

Hi GettinThinner, I haven't been banded yet, but my weight is about the same as yours. I have a totally unrelated question. Have you found that you have a lot of excess skin after losing 50 pounds? I'm hoping since I may not have as much to lose as some, there will be less sag. Thanks! (and I think 50 pounds in 3 months is fantastic - congratulations!!) -
Hi, I'm 5'1" and about 216. My insurance company requires a 6 month supervised diet before the surgery can be scheduled, which seems so rediculous! If I could diet successfully, I wouldn't be here! Good luck yo you!

Sorry that should of said "were you required" - I'm using speech to text and it messes up a lot!

Congratulations! Just think of how much better you'll feel and look by Christmas. I have Cigna too. I know their plans vary by employer, but where are you required to do the 6 month diet prior to scheduling your surgery? I am going to my first seminar wednesday

File Submitted To Cigna Today!

Best of luck to you!!! I also have Cigna and my first seminar is in about 10 days. Over the phone, 4 different agents from Cigna told me there were no qualifiying events that I had to meet other than my surgeon's suggestion for the surgery. Today I got a copy of criteria that needs to be met, from Cigna, which mentioned a 6-month physician-sponsored diet. I knew this was going to be a slow process, but that totally threw me. Have others had the same requirement and how did it work out? Thanks! -

I've never been tested for sleep apnea, but highly suspect I have it. Were you tested before the surgery? What part does sleep apnea play in the process? Thanks!

I have to go to one, too; but so far have no idea why. Someone said they might evaluate whether or not you'd be consistent or fit enough for exercise.
