  1. I am about a year and a half out, and tonight I am struggling mentally. I have been holding around the 172 mark for about 5-6 mos. with at least 20-25 lbs to go for my own personal goal. My appetite has increased and I have been falling back into some of my old habits. I feel scared that I will gain back the weight I've lost and guilty that I am letting the "mind" thing win. Really, I feel as tho I'm caught in a vicious cycle! I don't want to fail!
  2. Hi Jenny! Congrats on your decision! I am almost 3 months in now and do not regret a thing. I was unsure about which procedure I wanted when I first went in for my consult. I didn't even realize the sleeve was an option until Dr. Enochs asked. So I said, bypass. I went home and googled the sleeve, and thought it would suit me. I was scared of bypass because of all the talk you hear about dumping, malabsoprtion, hair loss, excessive loose skin, etc. With the sleeve, you absorb more of your nutrition, so it cuts down on some of those problems. I also only had 80 pounds to lose (lots of comorbidities), but if I had more than that, I think I would have chosen bypass. You have a larger window of opportunity to lose with bypass. I guess it boils down to what makes you comfortable and what will work with your lifestyle for optimum success! Good luck!
  3. Great Idea! Love an excuse to shop. And ThirtyOne just came out with their new spring catalog. Ooooh, Lucky Me!
  4. So my question is... Is there anyone feeling a little nervous about returning to work (or outside world)? With all of the changes, I am feeling so overwhelmed. Right now I have about a week and a half before getting back to my "normal" routine. What am I going to do? Will I get in all my Protein and my fluids? It's been pretty easy while at home, but worried work will bring many more complications. One thing I have already started doing is kind of pre-planning what I will eat and where it will fit in my regular day at work. I'll be starting week 4 of post op when I return to work, so I'm hoping that being able to consume semi regular meals at regular intervals will help. Ideas or strategies would be appreciated!!!
  5. I've been having the same tightening. I'm about 4 days post op and I definitely notice it more when I drink stuff that is too cool. Warm stuff is not as bad. But you really don't feel like taking in anymore because of the discomfort, and I'm also having trouble with the clear protein stuff. They keep telling me it will get easier. You hang in there. We Can Do This!
  6. Thanks for the encouragement! It helps to know you are not alone and that there are others feeling and going through the same things. To illgeturhairdid...Ready for those pounds to RUN!
  7. Well, I did it! I thought about doing it a couple of years ago, but then put the idea on the back burner. Then in November 2011, the idea came forward again and here I am four days post op, at home, and thinking about the road ahead. I had my surgery in NC at Rex Hospital by Dr. Paul Enochs. During the weeks leading to the surgery, I was never really scared or nervous. But now that the surgery is over, I am feeling a little bit of those things. I don't want to fail. Who does? But this is a lot to get used to. Well, I know I just have to set small goals and work toward them everyday. Otherwise, I will be overwhelmed. To anyone considering the surgery, just know that the surgery part is easy...at least, that's how I feel so far.
