  1. I took a couple of drinks of my daughters coke the other day because I was dying of thirst and didn't have a drink with me. I swished it around in my mouth to try to get rid of the bubbles. I could tell if I drank more than 2 or 3 drinks it would make me feel icky but it didn't bother me. My surgeon says you can definitely stretch your sleeve and not to drink carbonated drinks. I've read a lot of posts about the strechy part of stomach being gone and what's left is more leather like and can't stretch that much. When I asked my surgeon he said that a lot of the more stetch part is gone but you can still stretch your sleeve. For me drinking soda is not worth the risk of stretching my sleeve. I'm already scared to death of losing my restriction. I'm not taking that risk. Besides, soda isn't good for anyone and I don't bring it into my house because I don't want my kids drinking it. As far a fried food goes, I can eat anything. I haven't found any food that bothers me. I'm glad that I have the option to eat whatever I want but I choose to make healthy choices. I'm paranoid of not being successful after going through a nine month waiting period and surgery.

    Eating Too Fast

My surgeon has a patient who ate an apple when she was only a week post-op. She busted her staple line and they had to totally re-do her surgery. I know it's hard to only be on liquids or soft food but don't risk it.
  3. My highest incision was at least 1 1/2 inches below my bra. I wore an underwire bra home from the hospital the day after surgery. I only wear underwire and I never had an issue with my incisions.

    Depressed.

10 pounds from one day to the next is a lot but by this time next week that 10 pounds will probably be gone again. I know it's very depressing but just hang in there. Our bodies change everyday. Just give it time and don't stress out, stress is not good for weight loss. Stick with it and you'll do great.

    Depressed.

Are you holding water? I lost weight during my period and the next week I gained because my legs were swollen. My ankles looked like Grandma's, lol. I took a water pill and my weight went back down to what it was.
  6. I was sleeved on 2/14. I can eat anything I want just not very much of it. Some days I feel like I can hardly eat anything and other days I wonder if I'm eating too much. I track my calories and I've been doing really well but wish I was losing more. I have had a great recovery from surgery and no issues at all. I've lost 24 pounds since surgery and I feel like it should be more but I am down 2 sizes in pants and one size in tops.

Thinking My Surgeon Has Lost His Mind!

My post-op plan was the same as cookie2012. Also, I was not allowed to lift more than 10 pounds until 6 weeks.

    Low Testosterone?

My brother found out he had low testosterone. They offered him a cream that he could use on his upper arm or injections. He opted for the injections because the testosterone in the cream is dangerous for his wife and daughters if they come in contact with it. I know he has more energy and is sleeping better. He also has been doing some strength training and has noticed that he is building more muscle since taking the injections. Good luck to ya and try not to worry too much about it.
  9. I'm interested. I'm just getting down to around a size 20.

    Protein/fat/carbs Ratio

I was stalled at weeks 2 and 3. At my 3 week check up the surgeon told me I had to eat at least 1000 calories to lose weight. I try to eat right around 1000 a day and the scale started to move. I'm 8 weeks out now and I average about 3 pounds a weeks.

    Protein/fat/carbs Ratio

I asked my NUT the same question when I was 6 weeks out. Here is part of the email she sent to me. I would set your calorie level to about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. The carbohydrate content of your diet should be about 45 to 50% of total calories. So that would be about 112 to 125 gm a day. But preferably I would look more closely at a meal or snack. I would try to have about 15- 30 gm of carb at a meal and about 15 gm at a snack. Your fat intake should be about 30% of total calories so that should be about 33 to 35 gm a day. Right now I would focus on getting at least 65 gm of Protein a day. Start including some carb and fat at meals and Snacks along with the protein.
  12. I did the same thing. I lost 12 pounds the first week and then nothing weeks 2 and 3. I had a post-op visit with my surgeon at week 3 and he told me I had to eat 1000 calories a day to lose weight. I was getting in around 600 - 800 a day. I up'd my calories and the scale started moving. I try to eat six times a day and track my calories and protien on myfitnesspal.com. I know it's hard to eat much at this stage but if you eat often and focus on protien rich foods it can be done. I've read a lot of posts from people who never eat more than 600 calories a day but this works for me. I hope you find what works for you. Good luck
  13. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who can eat pretty much anything I want to after surgery. Of course I aim to make good healthy choices and eat only a fraction of what I used to eat but I can eat sugar, fried food, popcorn, bread, pasta or rice if I want to. I'm 8 weeks post op and I haven't found any food that my sleeve will not tolerate. I read so much about people with a sleeve who can barely eat anything. I was starting to feel like something was wrong with me.
  14. The first few weeks I was hungry about every 2 hours or so. Now I'm 8 weeks out and for the past 2 weeks my hunger is almost gone. Sometimes I feel hungry around lunch time but I try to keep myself on a schedule. I usually eat 6 small meals or snacks a day so hunger isn't usually a problem.
  15. I was allowed to slowly add raw fruits and veggies after 6 weeks.

    Biotin Intake

My NUT told me to take 2000 mcg a day. She said if you take more than that it's a waist of money because you just lose it in your urine. IDK, I've only been taking it for two weeks.

Feb 2012- How Are You Doing?

I was sleeved on 2/14/12. I've had no problems at all post-op. It seems like I can eat pretty much anything I want to eat. I haven't tried rice yet because I am also a little scared of rice. Sometimes my restriction feels small and then other times I feel like maybe I can eat too much. I'm doing really well as far as paying attention to not over stuffing myself and knowing when to stop. I think my loss has been slow but of course my doc says I'm doing fine. He told me I have to eat 1000 calories a day to lose weight but somedays that's hard to do when your trying to make healthy choices or you're on the go. So far I've lost 20 pounds since surgery. Wish it was more but I know I've lost lots of inches. I'm down 2 sizes in clothes and when my fiance hugged me this morning he said I was melting away. That feels soooo good!
  18. <p>I have to eat 1000 calories a day to keep my weight lose steady. Some days it's pretty hard. I eat mostly dairy, eggs and tuna. I don't buy low fat cheese because if I cut all the fat out I can't reach my calorie goal. I add a little reduced fat mayo made with olive oil to my tuna to add calories. I cook my eggs in olive oil to add calories and good fat. When you're able to eat nuts, an oz. of nuts will give you calories plus protein and good fats. You can also add peanut butter to your protein shakes. Good luck

    Recovery Room Pain Level?

I had no pain at all in the recovery room. I was so tired from the drugs that I could barely hold my eyes open until the next morning. I went home the next evening and only took my pain meds a couple of times. After day 3 I felt pretty good.
  20. I was feeling hunger about every two hours, which was good for me because I try to eat 6 times a day. But, now that I'm 6 weeks post-op I have no hunger at all and my surgeon wants me to eat 1000 calories a day. Oh well, I'll have to just keep myself on a schedule.

  21. Suddenly my hunger is gone. I've been having a hard time getting my calories in this week.

    Weird Results

I was a slow loser and my doctor told me I wasn't eating enough calories. I had to up my calorie intake to 1000 calories a day. I also have to get 70 grams of protien and at least 48 oz of water a day. After I up'd my calories I lost 6 pounds in 10 days.
  23. My ring finger has gone from a size 7 to a 5 1/2. I'm 37 and my high school class ring is a size 7, LOL. Also, tried on a watch and bracelet today that used to fit kind of snug and now they hang on my wrist. It's nice to see the success with my own two eyes.
  24. I'm down 20 pounds since the day of surgery. Down from a size 26 to a 22, yay me! What a great Valentine's Day gift to ourselves!
