I agree. It's not about losing weight, it's about not regaining it and having to lose it again and again and again. The surgeryis as near to a permanent solution as there is right now.

Zoloft And Weight Gain
Caradina replied to randalljohn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was put on Zoloft for anxiety and depression due to a bad job situation... 5 months and 60 lbs later... I took myself off. Effexor added another 20. Now, I'm off all the meds, and I've gotten the sleeve, partly because the metabolic changes those drugs caused in my body did not reverse, and I was gaining on only about 1500 calories daily. I need the sleeve now to allow me to eat a small enough amount not to keep gaining. I'm pretty anti meds due to this. -
Anyone Else Still Really Self Conscious About Their Looks?
Caradina replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see a beautiful, very happy, and fit woman here. I understand though. I am so full of self hatred when it comes to my body that I will probably have some dysmorphia too. I'm afraid of the skin.... Just know that to the world, you look great! -
Mushies Early? Scared!
Caradina replied to aaeactive_gm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cleared for mushies at day 12, because I had not lost since day 4 and I had zero energy. I felt sooooo much better after some eggs and oatmeal. I think a couple days isn't going to kill you, since some people are on mushies to start,. just watch your volume. -
I was in TJ two weeks ago for my surgery at INT hospital with Dr. Rodriguez through Belite. I never once felt unsafe. On the contrary, the city was what you expect from a large city - crazy traffic, lots of people, some areas where things looked poor and some areas of affluence. I never saw any violence and never worried about it. TJ was a very colorful an vibrant place and I plan to return there sometime soon to vacation. It's just like anywhere. If you are where you aren't supposed to be, or dealing rugs, or causing problems, you might see some violence. Walking down the street to the open air market or the corner coffee place? No. Don't let the media hype fool you.

Interested In Getting The Sleeve But People Are Scaring Me!
Caradina replied to TiffanyLoren's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mental issues? Like delirious joy as the weight finally comes off? I heard it all too. Everyone tried to talk me out of it. Many presented "convincing" arguments, usually not based on any sort of medical fact, but instead on hearsay. I did it anyways because it just felt right for some reason. I'm almost 2 weeks out and I'm already loving how much I don't ned to eat, how freed I feel frommy constant hunger. I wouldn't go back if you paid me! -
Im At Int With My Friend
Caradina replied to ajbailey72's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I would go upstairs. Apparently the good is amazing up there. LOL I wouldn't know, I was at INT alone for surgery, but the guests of a few fellow sleeveers said it was the bomb. There is also a taco stand on the corner by the hospital that is awesome. Ask Bibi. She'll help you out. -
I had a friend do really well on Depo too, but not me. I was a total psycho hose beast. Horrible to everyone, acne, weight gain, neverending period for 3 months... yeah. Itwas bad. LOL It's so weird and kinda cool how different everyone is.

Me too. I can take normal drinks now, at 12 days out. I have to watch how much I do at once, because more than 4 oz or so and it feels like it's backing up my throat. No problem drinking normally though. I do miss chugging down 20 oz of water though. Insta hydration! It'll take better planning this summer for sure to stay hyrated during exercise.

Questions About Airplane Flight After Operation
Caradina replied to PonyUp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had wheelchair assistance and it made all the difference. I had them put me in one right at the front of the airport. They skipped the line for me in check in and in security and took me straight to my gate. It was a relief not to have to stand in line so long and worry about being jostled. I was allowed to board the plane first, before even the first class people, and the flight attendants put mybag into the overhead for me without my even having to ask. There was a chair waiting at the next airport to get me to my connecting flight. I could have walked it, but I was feeling weak and tired and swollen and was VERY glad for the help. -
6 Year Old Daughter Doesn't Want Me To Change. :(
Caradina replied to NJsharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Change scares little kids. In her mind, change is BAD, any change. She's not making the jump to the positive, and she may not. I would just let it ride with her and since your loss will be gradual and she'll see you everyday during it, she may not even really notice! -
Depo made me gain weight like nobodies business! I had a hysterectomy last winter, but I take birth control pills as my replacement hormones and they told me to keep taking them, even while I was still in the hospital. They said that the blood clot risk wasn't really enough to make me go through the misery of menopause. I would discern from that that the risk is therefore not too bad at all.

I hadn't had one at 8 days out... I was told to take Milk of Magnesia, and I did... and now I ave nonstop diarrea... 4-5 times a day. I say wait! Let your body do it on it's own, because mine clearly didn't want to be rushed. The one dose of that stuff has made me miserable ever since.

Help....12 Days Post
Caradina replied to HopeThruFaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For antacids, I use OTC Prevacid, and I take a TUMS morning and night. No acid issues. I also have the hungry monster though. It was horrible on clears, but now that i am on fulls, it is better. I can start with mushies on Thursday and I think then I will finally start to feel the fullness feeling I think we are missing. But yeah, Right now i feel like I'm pouring my nutrition into an abyss that never reaches my stomach. -
I'm 11 days out. I lost 10 lbs in the first 3 days out the gate, and then nothing since. Very disheartening to be in a stall in week 2... I hate my sluggish metabolism. I know it'll come eventually, but I did not expect to stall out so quickly! I'm still on liquids!
-
I'm only about 1 1/2 weeks out, but I have only lost 8 lbs. I'm worried too. But I know that it is impossible to at so little forever and not lose. I just have to be patient...

Florence Hospital Vs. Int Hospital Tijuana Mexico
Caradina replied to BeautyVGSJourney's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My review for INT is the same as the one above. Very tiny, very clean, very comfortable. It's alittle older in terms of tech than th ones here, but it didn't matter in the long run. My room had its own bath and a window that actually opened. -
Would You Have Done It Sooner? Say In College.
Caradina replied to jayjay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I was 9, I went from a healthy, active, thin child to an overweight woman with huge boobs and PCOS... It happened literally within a summer. If I could have had this surgery then, oh yes. I have lived my whole life obese, and fighting to lose. Every day I am on a diet, with every scrap of food and calorie counted. If I could have never developed the long, hard wall of mental anguish I have now, I would pay almost anything. I say do it as young as possible. I just did last week, at 33. I wasted more than half of my life fighting obesity, and it was a war I could never have won. If you sincerely think that you cannot win the war on your own, do it asap. -
3 Weeks Clear Liquids Unbearable!
Caradina replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 WEEKS of clears? Woah! I was on one week clear, one week fulls, 1 week mushies and then whatever with caution. I would be going nuts too. It's so weird how different all of the surgeons are with their requirements. -

Recovery Room Pain Level?
Caradina replied to slimthickens's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in horrible pain in the recovery room and for the entire first day. It's all a blur of sleeping, waking up, begging frantically for more Morphine, passing back out.... repeat. When I woke the next morning though I was fine and didn't need pain meds again at all. So it resolved pretty quickly. I also was in the hospital 3 days. That is standard for my surgeon.
