9 Days Out And Ate Potato Chips By Accident
Caradina replied to Cherrybomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say you're ok in the leak department, because chips crunch down to a smaller bulk and get mushy in the stomach. My worry is that if this is a common behavior, you could easily overeat your sleeve and make yourself very physically ill.... and if you were sleeping when your sleeve dumps the excess food... omg. I mean this in the most concerned and kind way possible...I might try a different sleep aid if this is a common side effect to the Ambien for you. I had a roommate who would sleepwalk and eat on Ambien. It was a basis for her whole weight problem, because sometimes she would eat a whole cake in a night. When she changed meds, she lost much of her excess weight naturally. -
My 13 Year Old Son Said I'm Looking Skinnier

LOL Because 13 year old boys notice nothing unless it has to do with them! LOL Congrats! This is an awesome NSV! -
4 Months Today And I've Lost 62 Pounds
Caradina replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cut my hair into a graduated bob before surgery in hopes that the loss wouldn't be as noticeable when it happened. I had already thinned badly from another surgery I had about 6 months prior, and I can't really bear the thought of losing much more, because I'll start looking like I have a real issue. Maybe when I get closer to goal I can get a cute pixie cut for summer! I've never had hair shorter than shoulders because of the fat face thing... -
600 # Man Cut From His Home, So Very Sad
Caradina replied to former_vbg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Holy cow those commentsare so hateful! You wern't kidding! The sad thing is, even if someone like you or me were to compose a well written compassionate response, defending the man, or what have you, it would be wasted, because those morons just can't even consider that they may be wrong, or not in full knowledge of all of the facts. Gawd I hate people sometimes. -
Goodbye Letter To My Family
Caradina replied to betterthanbefore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I didn't do any of this. I had an onscene amount of confidence that i would be just fine. I called my mom the night before and told my SO that if I got kidnapped in Mexico that he had to disguise himself as a rodeo clown and come get me. Then I boarded my plane and the rest is history. I've had a lot of life threatening illnesses in my life, so maybe I've just been too close too many times to be scared of much anymore. I do have my paperwork all in order though, and I maintain it. I've been doing that since I was 18. -
How Much Pudding/yogurt/soup?
Caradina replied to bnorms's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I can eat a whole cup of soup if it has no chunks. If it's more hearty, then it's like 4 bites and full. A whole yogurt cup is no problem, but not so much for mashed potatos. It'll come. -
I get it too. I'm 3 weeks out today and struggle to eat more than a few bites at a time. It's hard to get enough calories because my restriction is so tight.

Asking For A Friend Who Is Self-Pay.....cost And Recommendations?
Caradina replied to Queen of Crop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Mexico for Dr. Rodriguez through Belite. He is a very good surgeon with a great track record, a great bedside manner, and alot of experience. I paid $7900 total. It's more than some people pay in Mexico, but I was ok with that to have an excellent surgeon, and to be in a real hospital instead of a strip mall. I vote Mexico! -
I Gotta Come Clean - I've Altered My Pre Op Diet
Caradina replied to CHELL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a very experienced and good surgeon and he never made me do liquids... Just a high protein and green veggie diet. I did 2 weeks of meat, cheese and eggs and all was well. I've done a liquid diet... I did an all liquid diet for a whole year a few years back for weight loss. It did get better after the first few days and after a couple of weeks, I could sit next to my room mate and watch her eat pizza without even a twinge. Your body does adjust, but I would never do it again. I did lose alot of weight that way, but it came right back on. -
Omg Extra Skin Already?
Caradina replied to nancy_marie_00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might go down. I lost around 50 lbs on my own a few years back and had extra skin on my very upper inner thighs, lower stomach area, and some little "batwings". They all tightened up, but it took a couple of months. I used firming lotions religiously, twice a day as well as dry brushing my skin every night. Now that I gained it all back plus more and now have 120 lbs to lose, I'm hoping it won't be too bad once I get there, but I'm already back on my skin routine. -
Breastfeeding And The Sleeve
Caradina replied to Singlemama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would wean him. The medications you will be given at the hospital will make your milk unusable for almost a week, and at that point, like Blackberry said, your body will struggle to produce milk. I was only able to get in 300-400 cals a day in the first couple of weeks, and breastfeedign an infant of that age usually takes around 500 calories daily from you.... -
I had a 32f bougie used for me. I feel like my restriction is actually alittle too much, as I struggle to get over 700 cals right now daily. I'm hoping it means that when I'm fully healed and my capacity increases it stays under 6oz...

Panic Mode!
Caradina replied to jiggyjen1982@yahoo.com's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am stalled too, right after surgery. I lost in the first week, gained in the second week, and nothing after. I was told that my calories were too low at 700... so I'm pushing for 900 now but it's hard. I'm finally onto normal foods so that might help... -
I'm 3 weeks out today and i still get it if I eat too much, or if I eat something my sleeve doesn't like. Also if I drink too fast, or something too cold, or I need to burp... LOL If I pay attention to it, it will start to hurt slightly right before I hit the "I'm too full, please kill me" line. I still have no sense of fullness in my stomach itself so it's my only lightning rod against eating too much.
-
I'm looking to be a slow loser too.... 13 lbs in 3 weeks.... and I've been totally stalled for two of the three. The doctor said to up my calories. I've been struggling to get in even 700, but I'm going to try to push it out to 900 or so and see if it helps. Are you guys staying super low? That maybe the issue. I'm hoping so... If there isno reason for this I'm going to go nuts!

Getting Health Insurance After Your Sleeve
Caradina replied to 4ALongerLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that anything to do with my sleeve, or any complications they can even at a stretch attribute to my sleeve will be denied as a pre-existing condition.... This is an employers plan too! I was already denied for individual coverage before the surgery due to multiple health issues. Gotta love the American healthcare system! -
I self paid, so I can't say in my own experience, because my insurance excluded the sleeve. (They would have given me the band, but who wants the band?) My friend was denied by BCBS once, but they approved it after she appealed.

Leaving For Mexico Tomorrow!
Caradina replied to mgood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm excited for you! Don't be scared! I was too, but it was for nothing. Everything went well, and Mexico was actually a very interesting place, and I enjoyed it so much that I plan to go back on vacay soon.... Good luck Friday! -
Wills, Health Care Poa And Directives
Caradina replied to WillowsKnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did none of these things. I have had alot of health issues, so I always have had an advance directive on file, but for a suregery susch as this one, it just didn't feel necessary. There's nothing wrong with being prepaired though I guess. -

4 Months Today And Not Happy!
Caradina replied to Pammie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, I was always "healthy fat". No co-morbidities... BP low normal,,, cholesterol high normal... not on any meds.... it's making me nuts. -
4 Months Today And Not Happy!
Caradina replied to Pammie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My starting weight was as of the beginning of the year, I managed to lose some on my own, but then gained back some on the pre op diet. It's been a ride for sure. -
4 Months Today And Not Happy!
Caradina replied to Pammie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 2 week pre op diet that was no carb. So I was eating whatever amounts I wanted of all meats and green veggies, but no carbs or sugars. Then three days liquid protein shakes. I gained about 4 lbs on the pre op diet. Now I am told to eat under 800 cals a day, 80g protein, under 50g carbs and to limit sugars. I'm tired, and not losing. I'm also drinking 75 oz of water a day and barely peeing. The surgeon insists that this is the right way to go though. I'm tempted to change it up. -
Protein/fat/carbs Ratio
Caradina replied to isntsheclever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the info. I'm going to try it. I've been going nuts thinking that this is just another thing that will fail, because it makes no sense to be eating so little and not losing... LOL hopefully it'll work! -
Oh that sucks. I had read a few good reviews, and i was hopeful. Meh. I got some frozen greek yogurt and it was delicious!
