Ben And Jerry's Greek Frozen Yogurt
Caradina replied to smileygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG it is wonderful! The greek has more protein too. I would only eat 1/2 cup at a time though... it's 200 calories for that size serving and lots of carbs and sugars. I'll eat it on occason, but it's not a daily choice. It's better than the 350 cals that a servicng of B&J Phish Food runs though, so I allow myself to have it in it's place, as a placating agent! -
Protein And Constipation - Weight Gain
Caradina replied to HadToDoIt40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same issue. I was getting 80g protein, very low carbs...and constipated, tired, and not losing. I cut to 40g protein, upped my carbs, added coffee back in, a voila! More energy than ever, losing FAST, and no more constipation. I think some of us just don't do well on the low carb diet. Add some healthy carbs and see if it helps. -
Yeah, you're sliming. It usually only happens now if I eat something "bad" or too fast or too much. If it's happening with every bite, I'd dial back to liquids for a week and try again. Soft solids in week 2 sounds crazy nuts! I wasn't allowed that until the beginning of week 4. I did a week of clear liquids, a week of full liquids, a week of purees, and a week of soft solids. Now, I can eat whatever, but I still have alot of things that don't work so well. The sliming is a symptom that your body is not ready for those foods yet.

Another Freaking Gain Grrrrrr
Caradina replied to rodswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can't be failing this early out. If anything your body is probably just freaking out alittle. It happened to me too. I know it's hard, but try not to get too disheartened. A couple of oz is nothing! I had to put my scale in the shed outside by the lawnmower so I would stay away from it. Now I only weigh weekly. Or less, because it's a pain to go out there. I find I see a loss every week, but the weighing once, twice, three times a day was driving me to madness. Up 3 lbs... down 4, up 2... you get the idea. Now it's always Oh! I lost Xlbs this week. Yay! -
Post-Op Scary Moments, Did You Have Any?
Caradina replied to Cobrargc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a really rough first three days... Loads of pain, the meds wern't helping at all, and alot of nausea. I was really just laying in bed miserable for two days, no walking hardly, and wondering if I would die... but I didn't and now I feel amazing. -
Another Freaking Gain Grrrrrr
Caradina replied to rodswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alot of things could be contributing to this. Water retention would be the culprit I would point at first. Then I would look at the other things... was there anything in your sleeve when you weighed? Are you "regular"? (Maybe TMI, but I "lost" quite a bit after my first real "movement" after surgery.) Try to be patient. It's not been very long, and I stalled out after week one and didn't start losing again until week 3, but am doing great now, at the end of week 4... -
Bariatric Card For Restaurants
Caradina replied to mommyinneed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a card, but I've found that alot of waitstaff seem nonplussed about it and the restaurants are very accomodating. I've had a couple who wern't, and we just won't go there now. At the end of the day, I think they will either accomodate you, or they won't, regardless of whether or not you have a card. -

How Much Do You Tip The Driver?
Caradina replied to NJsharon's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I tipped 15 each way from SD to TJ and back. I would say 10 round trip for each dental appt. The driver seemed very happy with my tip though so maybe my overtipping thing extended to this. (I always leave 25% on a table, much to my bfs chagrin)My driver was awesome though, pointed out interesting sites, joked around with us and was very good at keeping us all talking to him and eachother so we wouldn't be nervous. -
I waited until 4 weeks out, but added coffee back in with no issues. I have a cup each morning. It makes me easier to live with at work, and it keeps me regular (sorry if tmi, but it works!)

Anyone Here With Simular Stats?
Caradina replied to bethany1987's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm close too... 5'9 HW - 267 SW - 258 CW - 233 GW - 150I'm 33, and we had surgery on the same day btw! I was sitting at 242 for a week, its been kinda slow. Then I cheated and had... coffee! Coffee did what it does for me (TMI) and well... I lost 7 lbs. LOL It'll come. Just be patient. My best friend is also similar stats but she is alittle over 2 months out and down almost 70 lbs, but she said it was slow at first. -

What Do You Tell The Nosey Peopke At Work?
Caradina replied to Gettinhealthy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my direct co-workers. It's been positive, many are intrigued and ask alot of questions. One of them is planning her sleeve for 6 months after the birth of her child. LOL I also let it out into my social circle and have been privately contacted by around 6 people now for info on the surgery and my surgeon's info because they want the sleeve too. I'm pretty amazed how many people have been so positive and genuinely curious and intrigued for their own health. Kinda cool actually. I'll cause a "sleevalanche!" -
Carbonated Drinks and Fried Foods
Caradina replied to Larae's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a month out. I ate two bites of a breaded and fried chicken tender the other day and I slimed, threw up, slimed more, threw up more, slimed... you get the picture. I'm thinking never again, even if it was probably just too soon. -
You sound so much like me, your diet, everything. I'm not really losing either. It'll be a month tomorrow and only 16 lbs since surgery. I'm frustrated. I also know my hormones are way screwed up and have been for awhile. I blame that. I have an appt next month to see about that, but it takes so darn long to get into the doctor these days!

Those Who Have An Overweight Spouse
Caradina replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since my surgery, we don't eat out much anymore, and that alone has helped him lose some weight. We're also cooking much healthier at home, and he seems to be healthier overall. I'm hoping he continues this change! -
Movie Snack Suggestions
Caradina replied to HopeThruFaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to see the Hunger games on day 4... Irony! The 3 other adults and 5 children we dragged with us all feasted on concession stand stuff and I withstood it all. I had a tiny sip of one of the kids Icees. I didn't even really want it. I was told that popcorn is fine for me after 1 month though, so maybe call your surgeon to see if alittle would hurt? A couple bites? Just don't get your own bag! -
Oh so happy for you! Your success is inspiring! Congrats!

6 Weeks Out Weight Loss Slow Hate The Scale But Pictures Help
Caradina replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're looking soooo good! What a change! -
I'm very itchy too! No new products and no new diet items, just different quantitys. I'm a month out... very weird. I hope it goes away soon. I've been dry brushing my itchy skin, which feels divine. I do it at night and then coat myself in tea tree oil. I smell horrible when I'm done, but it helps so much. I also think it's helping keep my skin from getting loose.

Haha! I've been in the SCA since I was 17, but I never got into the fighting. I am more of an A&S and Dancing type girl. I am looking forward to being able to do a graceful Volta again without killing my partner on the lifts. LLOL I also play a LARP (Kanar) here in MI, and am already finding that it is easier to run frantically through the woods in a huge dress than it was pre op. It's funny how these little NSVs bring mre joy to activities we love. Fellow weightloss nerds unite!

My goal is set at 150, which will be a 22 BMI, but I would be "normal" at 169. I'm thinking I will reevaluate when I get to 169 and then see. I have a feeling I will be just fine at that point.

I've retained water ever since my surgery, and I am almost a month out. I'm pretty sure that if I could drop the water, I'd be 10-15 lbs lighter. I can literally SEE it. I drink around 75 oz a day... and pee maybe 2-3 times total. It's dark too. Very strange. I've been afraid to take anything though, and my doctor has no answers for me. I tried drinking less, and I lost some weight, a few lbs, but I bet its because my body had to use the water it is storing.

Realistically When Can I Go To The Beach
Caradina replied to irishmama2004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work on day 4 and I was fine. The beach is sooooo much less than work. I would say you'll be fine as long as you can control your diet (which you can) and you stay out of the water. -
Apparently My Body Can't Live Without Carbs
Caradina replied to minaleigh's topic in Food and Nutrition
I gain also on an all protein diet. I only will lose if my carbs hover above 50. I keep them under 80 to be safe, btu I've stopped cutting them and actually make an effort to add some or I just stall out or gain.
