Any Houston, Texas sleevers to start a little support group?!
Artsy replied to iiPinkxLoveii's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Butterfly! When you go to meetup.com, type in WLS in Houston, TX. The group is listed as Houston Area WLS Active Buddies. I don't think anything is scheduled yet but I'm trying to put information out there to see if there are any joiners. What area are you in? I can't get together this coming weekend but hoped we could shoot for Saturday, April 21--- at a local Tea House----conducive for conversation. -

Pevette, there is a neat Tea House located between Shepherd & Dunlavy off Westheimer (called Te House of Tea). It is generally a quiet place for lunch and conversation--good for a group. We should put the idea out to the group to find out if there are any takers. What do you think??? -
Carolina, Thank you for sharing your story. What were your symptoms for the blood clot? How soon afterwards did you have the blood clot--while still in the hospital? Wishing you continued success!!

HEB is a large grocery store chain which originated in TX. I wonder if they are the same protein jello packs. On my way to GNC to check it out.

You've started a good thread. Happy losing to you! So sad others are judgmental. Glad you feel like a million bucks!!! :-)

Aviiva , I'm like you--short. But I'm 5 ft tall & weigh 191 lbs. My BMI is 38. I need to lose 65-70lbs---have gained and lost that much & more several times. I've heard of sleevers feeling a loss, like a funeral for food. we definitely can't eat the way we once did. Also I hear foods that were once favorites are no longer tempting. Wishing you continued success. Congrats on your weight loss so far.

I just downloaded the app. What is the group called? How is it listed? Thank you. -
Hi Kimmey, Thanks for your response. So glad to hear Tameki is your case worker--she's been terrific--responds to emails lickety split. I have United Healthcare Choice Plus and there were no requirements prior to surgery. I've completed all tests---waiting for blood work results, then Tameki can apply w/ UHC online. She said it should be about 2 weeks. I'm so excited and can't wait. My next door neighbor had Dr Marvin also--6 months ago. She had a breeze & has lost almost 50 lbs. If you want to communicate directly w/ me---my email is artgirl709@gmail.com. All the best, Kimmey. Pls keep in touch. --Artsy

Am now waiting to hear back for appt w/ Dr Marvin. So far I am impressed with his staff and their thoroughness. Love Tameki, my case worker. My next door neighbor had this surgery 5.5 months ago. She rarely weighs herself--about once a month. She said that weighing more than once a month is setting herself up for possible disappointment. I plan to do the same after my surgery. Sent from my iPhone using VST
