Lisa's, how long ago was your surgery?
-
Tyvette, I'm having surgery Tuesday. I'm saying a prayer for you tonight for courage and peace of mind for the best possible decision for you and your health.
-
Thanks to you all for the sage advise. Can't wait to talk to the anesthesiologist. I''ll be able to explain my past problems during surgery. I am bringing phone to hospital so I can communicate with you all afterwards. See you all on the Loser's Bench!!!

You sound good barn girl. Keep up the good work.

Delta, shorty pants, Ellein, I'm Going to be sleeved May 8. Getting a little nervous. Frankly, my nerves are not so much about after surgery changing eating but rather about the surgery itself (the pain, the nausea, anesthesia). I've had a c-section and hysterectomy; the pain and nausea was very difficult. Of course in both cases I felt better in the days and weeks that passed afterwards. I'm looking at this surgery in the same way--it will get better as the days and weeks pass by.

Anyone seeing Dr. Robert Marvin in Houston, TX?
Artsy replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be sleeved on May 8 but my experience with Dr Marvin and his staff has been pleasant, organized and professional. Last week I had my pre-op appt with Dr Marvin---he took his time to explain everything in detail to me. I found him to be most helpful. The other doc in his office is another top notch physician. My case worker Tameki was such a big help and communicated with me often. Robyn in their office is also a wonderful professional. I couldn't be happier with my choice of doctor so far. -
I thanks Emilie for your thoughts. I'm going in on May 8 for surgery. Am very excited and nervous too!

I've read somewhere on a blog here that there is some type of loan company for the surgery or perhaps some of the surgeons in Mexico work out an arrangement. IDK but it's worth looking into.

"mexicans Kidnap Americans. There Is A War There"
Artsy replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Gosh from everything I've read on this forum, there is nothing to be concerned regarding safety. I do think you need to investigate and ask questions of those who chose surgery in Mexico. I won't be going because my insurance pays for surgery----but hundreds of people go there all the time. Be safe and investigate! -
I Think I've Began To Mourn Food :(
Artsy replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! Love Drive-ins, Diners & Dives. The chef with the spikes blonde hair. Having surgery on Tuesday---am a Cajun. And you know Cajuns love their food! -
Congratulations Newfound! You sound like you are doing great. Keep up the good work. HUGS!
-
Hey Joni It is called single incision because all the "work" is done through a single incision in the belly button. There is one other tiny minor cut to put the instrument in which lifts the liver. Doctor said it is called SILS rather than the 4 or 5 incisions normally done for the sleeve.

Kfitch many people don't understand and don't try to put themselves in our shoes. You should have said, "I've never thought of walking"! Wow people don't have a clue. Welcome here! We are all supportive. Congratulations on your decision.
-
Piercedphoenix, we'll be on the losers bench together! My surgery is May 8. I'll be looking for your after surgery update here!
-
Tjmom, I went to surgeon today. I asked for the single incision surgery, so they moved me to another hospital to handle the surgery. And, because they moved to a different hospital, they moved my surgery date to May 8. We'll still be on the loser's bench together --- just with you blazing the trail for me!! Can't wait to hear about your surgery. And good luck too!
-
Tibbie, congratulations! You are in good company here. BTW., those are cute pups in your profile pic!
