I have been overweight all my life! I need to upload my first grade picture, I was the big girl in the class. My dads side of my family are big people, Like 400-550 big, My mom side is large but no one is over 250. Lets just say I was born to be big lol. I have been a big beautiful girl with lots of confidence all my life. Everyone always makes that compliment thats not really a compliment" you have a beautiful face"...... I first thought about the surgery with the help of my now ex boyfriend, he really wanted me to have it, after getting approve for the bypass, I change my mind I wasnt doing it for myself I was doing it for him. Five years later, I made the decision a for the sleeve nd this time I was doing it for me.
My first apporintment was in December, they told me the requirements and i was like i have everything! I had just finished a 12 week wellness class that involved me weighing in one a week with them and us learning how to eat healthy( this class was taken so i can try to lose weight) Weight loss surgery was no were in sight at this time. So i gave all my paper work to the doctor. Submited it to the insurace and I called every day, it took them one week, they did not say i was denied but they requested more information. The surgeons office called and said, oh you need to go thru our program . So i called Aetna, They were so helpful and knowledgable all the things my surgeons offices lacked. I spoke with the nurse and told him what the program involved and he said that will work have the RD write a letter about the program, I did and the next week i was approved. I brought the approval letter to my doctors office they looked shock like how did u do this!! I just wanted to let everyone know sometimes you got to take things into your own hands dont take no for an answer.
My surgeon did not require the 2 weeks no food pre op diet thank God. Surgery date 2/6/12 the date I will never forget. The surgery went well, My blood preasure shot up off after so i was peeing every 30 mins due to the medicine. I was so sore and so sleepy. They kept wanting me to walk around but I was so doped up all i wanted to do was sleep.
I was off 2 weeks, I didnt tell anyone at work, but i did tell my close friends and love ones. This decision was made because I am a private person and i work at a large office. I would have to talk about it all the time.
I am about 4 months out and 70 pounds down now. I make sure to let people know I am not my surgery, my surgery is just apart of my weight loss. I work out 5-6 times a week. I work out hard! My legs are always sore. I walk/jog , The longest distance I can go is 3 miles. I cant wait until I can just Jog the whole time. I eat right by selecting the right things to eat. My surgery has made all this possible. I am so thankful I have a long way to go but one thing to know Is i will never go back
