Starting To Love My Sleeve
readyforachange replied to Reddi4change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Reddi, we were sleeved the same day! I am sooooo happy I had this surgery. I'm getting comments that I've lost weight. I can really see the 20lb. loss! Excited for the future. Just having a hard time being patient! I've always said the first 2 weeks were the hardest. My energy has been slow, but I think it's because I've had a hard time getting in my Protein. I've started making shakes and that has solved that problem. I already see the change in my pep! -
Cappucino Flavored Protein
readyforachange replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At this minute I'm drinking a shake I made with Click (bought on Amazon). I used 3 ice cubes, 1/2 frozen banana, 3/4 scope of Jay Robb Protein, & 1/4 scoop of Click. Used my new Bullet, which does a great job. You could adjust the Click coffee flavor to your liking. -

You look FABULOUS!! Sweets were the main reason that got me overweight. So I hope I can avoid them the rest of my life. I sorta feel like an alcoholic when it comes to sugar. I seriously hope those cravings stay away from my door! -
Thanks for the replies. I thought it might be the dehydrating factor. I also think the acid on the tummy could be a problem. I read on the website for Northwestern Bariatric Surgery, to just limit yourself to 4 oz. a day. I think that was after 4-6 months. I'm 6 wks out and ready to fix me a cuppa java. ( : I miss my caffiene!

Don't worry about the weight gain. I came home from the hospital 4 lbs heavier. It is the IV's. I'm so sorry you had problems. You'll get back on track. This board is wonderful for support. We all need each other. -

1 Month Anniversary How Do You Feel? How Much Have You Lost?
readyforachange replied to Jlo77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I lost 19 lbs my first month. It's taken me another 2 weeks just to lose 1 more lb. I love hitting that 20 lb. mark! I'm able to button blouses that I used to wear open w a tank top underneath; plus, jeans that I hadn't been able to wear for the last year or two. This would be hard cooking for family. I live alone, so I can just concentrate on myself. I finally got a "Bullet" blender. So now I can make shakes w fruit in them and change things up a bit. I eat pretty much the same breakfast everyday.....one egg scrambled w about 2 T of cottage cheese mixed in. Lunch can be soup; greek yogurt; EAS drink; leftovers .....something like that. Dinner: an egg again; or shrimp cocktail. I got a turkey dinner from Mimi's the other night. I've been eating that for the last 2 days....a little turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. That has been a real treat. I also like chicken salad or tuna as a meal, too. So, those are my food choices. I'd love to hear what other people are eating. Keep up the good work! -

Jealous! I paid $18K!!! -
It might depend upon your age, too, as far as how you feel. I"m 66 and felt best my 3rd week. I went to work on my 11th day. I was very slow. The next week I was much perkier. Everyday about 5:00, I wished I could have taken a nap. After 4 wks, that went away.

Hey, I'm sorry to be such a Debbie Downer in my last post. ( : Just wanted to say, I was going to be by myself, too, when I came home from the hospital. I have two daughters to check in w me. Then a few days before surgery my 20 yr. old granddaughter offered to stay w me. I was sooooo glad she did....just for the company. She'd go to work and school, but I looked forward to her staying at night. Plus, she'd pick up stuff for me....like RX's, soup and more water. I think your cat will be great company for you. So just make sure you have all the groceries you need ahead of time. Best wishes!

Would a cab ride be reasonable? I would call a car service. It's very dangerous for you to be driving this soon after surgery. If you were in an accident, not only could you get hurt & the other guy.....but they could sue your pants off for being so negligent.

Please Pray...i Got My Surgery Date......
readyforachange replied to Lizbeth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was in the hospital 2 days and never got out of their hospital gown. I even wore one backwards as a robe when I walked the halls. I had my own but didn't even feel like putting it on. You'll have the IV pole and can't get your arm in a regular robe. Walk as much as you can everyday. Pack light. My favorite thing I took was my iPad. You'll be surprised how much you nap off and on. Yoga pants for the ride home are good.....anything non-binding. Congrats! You'll do great! -

Need Protein Help
readyforachange replied to Bypassjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had the same problem. So, last night, I Googled, "diet for sleeve surgery". Check out: the site for Cornell and Northwestern. I think it was NW that had a great schedule to follow to get in your Protein. I also bought "Pure Protein" bars at costco yesterday. They are very good and have 25 grams of protein. I will make that part of my day, too. I've told myself I need to drink half of an Isopure every day. Not so easy. ) : I went from less than 50 grams a day to yesterday had my best day and had 72 grams. Yeah!!!! -
Hello Everyone New To The Site....
readyforachange replied to Always Actnup's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm so excited for you newbies! I'll start my 5th week tomorrow....almost at a 20 lb. loss! And that's w only 2 pre-op days of liquids. I'm so glad I did this.....not one regret. It really changes the way you look at food. For me, I felt best after I had 2 weeks under my belt, as far as healing goes. Plus, there is that fear of the unknown.....this is all new to us. I still don't have much energy and have a problem getting in enough Protein. But I'm working on it and it's improving. I'm excited to see you've joined this amazing group of people who share so easily w everyone. Congrats on your new life! -
Scared About "the Surgery"
readyforachange replied to Enerfina's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Whenever I had surgery in the past, I always cried in the pre-op room. I was such a bag of nerves. I was shocked the day of my WLS.......I was totally at peace. Not one tear. I was so calm. It almost seemed "out of body". It's that "peace that passes all understanding". You will do great tomorrow. My surgery was on a Monday, too. What a great way to start the week! Congrats! You'll do great. -
How Many Grams Of Protein Are Your Doctors Suggesting?
readyforachange posted a topic in Food and Nutrition
I'm struggling to get in 50 grams of protein a day. My doc wants me to take in 80 grams. I've read any thing from 60 to 100 grams on this board. What has your doctor told you? .....and is anyone as bad as me? My daughter got in 80-100 grams a day and still had her hair fall out!
