    6 Months Anniversary Today!

Congrats! My 4 month is today! I'm a slow loser, but that's fine w me. I'm so happy w my loss and feel like I have a whole new outlook on life! I'm now out of "obese" and into "overweight"! When I lose around 14 more lbs, my BMI will be on the high end of "normal". Me soooo happy!!!

When You Have No Choice But Fast Food...

Lady Ivy is so right! I'll grill a bunch of chicken and we'll eat it for three days. I think it's all about planning. One of my favorite "go to" lunch or snacks is a piece of turkey or ham wrapped around a piece of string cheese. Put a little mustard on it.

When You Have No Choice But Fast Food...

In the beginning, it was Wendy's chili for me. Sometimes I'll get a "single" hamburger, take the top off and eat that. It tastes so yummy, but I can only eat half of it. Do you have an El Pollo in your town? I'll get beans and a chicken leg...or 2 legs.

    Constipation

Stool softner is great. Also, a real cup of coffee always works for me. Good luck!

    Warning... Debbie Downer

Hi TB, I always get depressed after ANY surgery. Fortunately, WLS was one time I didn't get depressed. I also agree that the first 2 weeks are the hardest. You feel yucky. It's a little scary figuring out this new way of life. I was fortunate that I had a relative go through this 3 years ago. I see how happy they are and the great success they have experienced w WLS. On June 6, I'll be 4 months out. I've gone from 220 to 184. If I never lost another ounce, I'd still be overjoyed! I feel so much better and look so much better. Keep looking ahead to those goals in your life. Yes, it is a bit awkward eating out w someone who doesn't know you've had surgery.....or even if they do know. I'm full in a few bites. I've learned to play w my food and push it around my plate to make it look like I'm eating. It also changes how I view eating. It is a bit alarming to see how much others overeat. I'm so glad I'm not there anymore. Keep on this board. It won't be long till we hear from you saying how much better you are doing. Give yourself time. xoxo

    Wishes 9 Month Surgiversary!

Thank you for your report to all of us. It is so encouraging. Congrats on your great job!
  7. I recommend having someone stay w you. I'm single and my granddaughter spent the nights w me. It was comforting to have her here. I wouldn't shower unless she was home w me. You can get a little light-headed in the shower the first days. Plus, she got me my RX and some groceries....a case of bottled water. I also spent 2 nights in the hospital....really like 2.5 days. Your Godmother will love being w you and feeling like she's helping. If she's offered, take her up on it.

    Paranoia

You aren't going crazy! I go through the same thing whenever I've "gone under". It's a reaction to the drugs they give you to knock you out. I get very depressed for a couple of days...experience the same feelings you describe. Then, out of the blue, I realize I feel normal. I'm so sorry for you. No body would understand unless they've experienced it. Take care.
  9. I spent most of today cleaning out my closet. I've got 8 big bags for Salvation Army! It was so much fun trying on clothes just to see that they hung on me! Today I ended up wearing a beautiful pair of white crop pants that are a size 16. I think I bought them about 6 years ago when I started losing weight on Weight Watchers. Obviously, I wasn't a success story, as the tags were still on them! I have clothes that I haven't worn for years.....or else they were just too tight. So I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe.....all w/o going to the mall!
  10. I think you are trying to eat too much. Remember, start with your Protein. If there is room for anything else, then you can try it. We went out to dinner last night. I had less than half a chicken breast and a few bites of mashed potatoes. I didn't have any rooom for the roasted vegtables. I brought home 80% of my dinner and will eat from it for the next couple of days. food doesn't interest me anymore. I used to live to eat. I'd be planning my next meal while eating. It's a great feeling to feel in control. May this is how an person w an eating disorder feels. This difference is, I still follow my program and work to get my protein and Water in. I'm losing slowly and know that one day I'll have to work harder at losing weight. Our sleeves do stretch out. So take advantage of the tightness now and loss all you can.

    Melting Down

I have an egg almost every morning. I tried to eat 2 eggs once, and can't. After 2 months, I tried bacon. It goes down fine. I don't make it a regular thing, though. It's a real treat.

    I Am Sleeved! -Update

I thinking walking is key to feeling good w this surgery. It gets rid of the gas and just seems to start getting everything else working.

    Why Am I So Cold?

    We're losing our fatty insulation! (( :
  18. I just can't believe how much happier I am! There is so much "self-louthing" (sp.) when you are fat! I was mad at myself for getting fat! Hated the way I looked. Now, I am in size 16's and getting compliments everyday. I love the way I look and feel. I also feel so much more healthier. Life is good!

    Just Got Home From Mexico...

    Congrats!!!
  21. Trust me, there's no way you can't lose weight. Our stomachs are just too small to overeat. Plus, sugar will probably upset your sleeve, as well as anything w white flour in it. Can you tell I was a former sweet lover? ( : I'm a slow loser, which is just fine for me. I'm at 189 lbs and getting closer to leaving, "obese" and entering the "overweight" status. Yeah!!!!

    Anesthesia

Well, I had a problem. I wouldn't wake up. Prior to surgery, I was asked if I ever had any problems with anesthesia. I said "no". Well, this time it was different. They said I was one of those rare people that just didn't want to wake up. They left me sleep for a couple of hours, then pushed me to wake up. I hated waking up. I wanted to be left alone to keep sleeping. This does cause me some worry for any other surgeries. However, I've been "put out" before, 4 other times, and never any problems. I've personally never heard or read of a story where someone didn't wake up from surgery. So, I think I wouldn't worry about this too much.
  23. Congratulations! Your fears are normal. I think we all probably went through that a bit. This is actually a pretty simple surgery. Blood loss is minimal. I think the hardest part for me was the shoulder pain from the gas. But for me, that was only on and off for a couple of days. Also, the gurgling sounds that came from my stomach when I would lay down at night. I've lost almost 35 pounds now and I know I could have never done this with WW! I have no regrets! Keep checking in on the site. This is where you'll get the best encouragement and advice.

Hi New Here And Hope I Did This Right

Good for you! And welcome to the board! The first two weeks after surgery were the hardest for me. Once you get through them, it's easy peazy.
