    Mushy Stage

My list has it down with beans and on scrambled eggs so I felt like -cheese was a yes but melted.
  2. Hospital: The air conditioner in my room was crazy strong and and cold and unfixable so even with 3 blankets I wanted my sweat shirt.... had my hubby bring it from home. Everyone else's lists cover it except flip flops for walking the halls instead of the weird socks and a loose fitting Empire waist dress for leaving the hospital are all I would add. At home I also ate sugar free pudding during my first 2 weeks
  3. Surgery is the 2nd craziest thing I ever did .... the first craziest was letting myself get so overweight. I was at a point where my weight was interfering with everyday activities and I was SICK of it. And I knew if I did not do something I would have been sick with diabetes, sleep apnea, and other illnesses that I was on the brink of. The craziness of surgery for me outweighed the craziness I was living in and I could not convince myself to just try another diet and exercise program. Do what is right for you but I am 2 weeks post op and can not believe it has been as easy for me as it has been and went in prepared for the worst.

    Coffee Love Affair

thank you Jesus coffee still taste delicious to me... my favorite protein shake is Nectar Cappaccino and yesterday I made ice-cream out of it mixed with almond milk. Only thing I could not handle so far (day 14) was some of the pain medications they gave me liquid form of in the hospital. Just opted for the mild pain, the stuff made me gag.
  5. Wow that is crazy.... they made me take a pregnancy test an hour before surgery and said there have been people that they have had to tell, like you. I know there must be so many emotions. I can only imagine as I think back to both of my surprise pregnancies. All I know is that God is always good and knows what He is up to. I am sure that His timing is perfect and if you have asked yourself if you should do this right now.... you have your answer. I will be praying of you to have peace and comfort as your process what all of this means for you and your family.

    Where You Ever A Naysayer?

I still could not personally go through with a bypass surgery.... it was not until I heard about the sleeve that WLS was an option for me. I do feel a bit like a hypocrite because I would say.... just eat like you had one. Tried that and never lasted more then 4 days so I decided after researching the sleeve that this was a safe way I was willing to go to make the lifestyle change I desired.
  13. Thanks for you question... I start soft foods in a couple of days and have the same fear

    Reflux/ Hiatal Hernia Issues Post-Op?

I was in the same situation and went for the sleeve. It is very possible my surgeon said that correction of the hiatal hernia that I had -will relieve the prior struggle with acid reflux. I figured I wanted this surgery to get rid of the obesity not the acid reflux and if I had acid reflux after surgery that would not have been a surgical out come but a continuing pre-existing condition I was good at living with. My acid reflux was weight induced also so I knew the weight loss would help. I had lived with acid reflux for years. For me the possible dumping and malobsobtion of bypass were more of a concern then acid reflux. I did not know going into surgery about my hiatal hernia but the doctor did correct it when he saw it. So I am hoping that I will no longer have the acid reflux now that the hernia was fixed.

    August 1St, Anyone?

Awsome Job Nina88! I lost 9 pounds this week too and 35 since starting pre op diet. I enjoyed the visit we just had - comparing incisions - and getting rid of those Isopure shakes I hated. On to week two we go!

  22. So good I feel guilty! I am on day 6 post op and doing well. I am doing great and 8 lbs down since surgery day. I had nausea when awaking from surgery (Probably because I refused the sea sick patch due to previous side effects it gave me) so needed Zofran through IV to manage it. Not severe, never actually threw up just felt it when I would move. Used the morphine pump often for first 10 hours after surgery, to be safe, pain was not very bad but wanted to sleep through nausea. I was up to use bathroom with out any trouble... late the first evening... and a couple times during the night, tummy soreness/pain getting out of bed but that is about it. Walking, and tiny tiny sips started in the morning of the first day. My nurse lined up 3 medicine cups of various fluids, chicken broth, snapple lemon tea, warm chamomile tea and I tried them. Just little sips like swallowing saliva. Up to the bathroom often because of IV drip so did not worry to much about getting liquids on day 2, but managed about 15 of the 1oz medicine cups by the conclusion of the day. Funny thing was to love the camomile tea... never a pre-surgery favorite. Also was glad I had Splenda in my purse.... they only gave the pink stuff. Diet Snapple became my favorite by day 3 in peach or raspberry but needed to be watered down. Broth was too salty and every smell was so intense.... so weird. I was surprised there were none of the complications I had read about... lips not chapped, no vomiting, drinking was easy by day 3, only thing was tummy pain felt like the most major pain from an ab workout I had ever had. Walking was fine just pain in tummy incisions so holding that part or supporting it with a pillow helped. To put the pain in perspective by 10 hours after surgery I never had any more of any type of pain medicine. There has been no struggles with BM's but starting day 5 it became very watery. Today was the first day of school for my youngest so I did my hair for the first time and made his breakfast and lunch, took pictures -but he is in 6th grade so I did not walk him the half mile to school or go to his class with him. (this is to tell you I am up and about fine) You will do so well, I think it is easy to expect all the bad stuff to happen because when we read it we remember it. No regrets at all and so excited still totally not hungry....
  23. just 6 days post-op Thanks for being a great example and inspiration .... 2 years is a long lot of consistency.... way to go!

    Jewelry During Surgery

they made me take off my wedding ring in the pre-op room and give it to my husband so do not wear one. The nurse said it was due to possible swelling and the need to cut it off if this happens. She said she has seen that before and did not want it to happen to me.
