Is This Normal?
shrinkydinkme replied to CandiKiss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just like you.... and even on Full liquids day 4 no problem with any liquid intake - protein, pudding or any liquid quantity although I did feel like I had enough pudding yogurt type stuff after about 2 oz.... we are just some of the ones who have it easy. Checked with 2 doctors and both said it was not a problem liquid goes \ through sleeve quickly so you are fine. When I started pureed... tuna, cottage cheese.... yep I had been sleeved. Totally limited intake. -
3 weeks out and still changing.... came home loving the smell of everything good, food, coffee, toast, even our hand soap. I did no longer like Snapple lemon tea but loved the peach. And treat every day was my chewable vitamin strawberry pineapple flavored. Well this past week my love of coffee had dwindled and my vitamins make me so sick I can no longer take them So for me for the most part all is well but there are still changes going on.

I am 3 weeks out and still get thirsty often. I am one of the rare people that by day 3 pot -op could almost drink unlimited amounts so it has not been a problem except to remember not to guzzle just take a few sips and wait a few minutes before doing it again. I actually went from the medicine cups to a childs 12 oz sippy cup to control my self for the first week then used to go coffee mugs so the output of liquid was controlled. I now use cups, mugs and snapple bottles and just limit the amount I put in them or having them near me because I will easily drink it until its gone. I found one other person like myself on here and they like me easily had been drinking 100+ oz. a day pre surgery.

Bathroom Issues
shrinkydinkme replied to Elinjacksmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow... I am almost 3 weeks out and although it is nice to know I am not alone in this.... it has been 7 days and time obviously for me to take some aggressive action. I tried to put that collace stuff into a protein shake and it turned into a semi solid. I guess I will go try again in some water and then use the Metimucil daily to increase fiber.... sure hope it works no pain- but lots of fear and slowed weight loss. -
Bummed At People's Reactions
shrinkydinkme replied to AngelBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told many close friends but not most... Saved telling my mom until 2 days before surgery because I did not want her input or for her to tell my sister but if something were to have happened during surgery I would have felt bad that I had not let her know. My in-laws do not know because I do not want sister-in-law & family putting in their two cents. So far no regrets, everyone I did tell has been very supportive. All those I have seen the past 20 days since surgery have no idea... they just think I am on some crazy no carb diet again or something. At some point I may feel like telling but really seeming like I won't tell -I am too comfortable with things the way they are. One friend (the one that is morbidly obese) did let me know their is new diet pills out there. I never followed up with her or left her know I have had the surgery. I know she was just trying to be helpful and is too scared to do surgery herself, so she was scared for me I am sure. Having a few great supporters is all you need! Glad I have some and you do too. -
I was talking about in & Out with my husband yesterday and saying.... that is one place I have no current solution for. We will not be going there for a long time together, since I am 19 days post op. There are so many other places with sleeve friendly options. He can go there with out telling me all about it. It is for sure one of the things I will miss, but not worth staying overweight for~!

5 Confessions (Join In)
shrinkydinkme replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. I confess I am sorry I told the early restrictions to my family because I do not need them policing me. 2. I confess I take gulps all the time and finish my liquids faster then I am suppose to... oh well there is air and pain when I sip 3. I dreamt of coffee 5 times right after surgery and love me a decaf skinny sugar free carmel latte (5 in 2nd week post op) 4. I am so excited when I go out and do things with friends who have no idea I had this surgery 2 weeks ago! 5. I totally thought I would be a fast looser and am stumped that I am average.... not much you can do about it though. bonus - I purposely make half truth Facebook posts to tweak out all the legalist out there who know I had WLS and think the worst, I am evil and think it is fun! Thanks for all who posted.... read every single one tonight. -

Did I Seriously Just Start My Period?!
shrinkydinkme replied to thehappycat's topic in The Gals' Room
I spotted at the hospital and after surgery fully started about 5 days early. Nurse at the hospital told me it was typical. Worst is the weight loss has almost stopped due to the fluid retention and I am on day 6 of Aunt Flo visiting when it use to only last 4 or 5. First 12 days post op lost 12 pounds... last 6 days lost 2 lbs. not very happy about this but there is not much we can do about it is there? -
Is There A Liquid Limit 2Weeks Post-Op?
shrinkydinkme posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can easily drink way more then the 4-6 oz needed per hour (calorie free of course). I will drink about 10 or 12 in an hour if I have it in my hand or near by. Am I stretching out my new sleeve? Do I need to worry? -

What's Your Favorite Drinking Receptacle?
shrinkydinkme replied to Darla5060's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been refilling my 16 oz glass Snapple bottle and really liking it! I can drop in as many ice cubes as I want because of the large opening and I love the feeling of glass. -
I made chili verde for the family last night (diced pork loin browned and put in the crockpot with mild green enchilada sauce and a chili in adobo sauce) pureed up some for my self and it was so good!

How The Hell Do You Drink Isopure?
shrinkydinkme replied to Carrie's Journey's topic in Food and Nutrition
hahah... Isopure hater here too. Tried 5 flavors and did not like any of them. I use the Premiere Protein pre-mixed Chocolate Shake (Vanilla is gross) 11 oz has 30 grams of protein and tastes better to me then any Isopure, Unjury, Syntax Nectar, Ease I have tried and Premiere Proteins 30g in 11 oz is more per ounce of protein then the Isopure. You can get them at CostCo and Sam's Club -
Having A Hard Time With The Words "pureed Food"... Ick!
shrinkydinkme replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
day 2 of pureed food for me and yes... not the easiest. I did ok with some applesauce and cottage cheese yesterday and then tried a scrambled egg white with melted low fat cheese - not my favorite even before surgery. Today I did a little bit of tuna and mayo then some chicken breast slightly pureed with mayo. Both were great. For dinner I put pureed cauliflower and chicken into chicken broth and the first few bites were good then by bite 6 and 7 not so much so had greek yogurt. I pretty much depend on my protein drinks to cover the needs and then sample some foods to test the new tummy. About the Scopalamine patch.... I used one on an Alaskan Cruise in May and had side effects of vertigo for a week after the trip. Did not know they were going to use it after surgery and quickly had them remove it and use other IV medications for nausea like Zofran. -

I'm Sleeved And So, So Happy!
shrinkydinkme replied to smallvegan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
excited for you ... I was not nervous either - the nurse in the pre-op room was laughing at how excited I was. I would think it is a rare thing in a regular hospital to have some one excited about surgery! -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
shrinkydinkme replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
everything especially loosing 60 pounds only to put back on 80 over the next year and a half.... then when I heard about the Sleeve, I knew it was for me. A couple years of looking into bypass and not being able to do that to myself. Talked to Sleevers and researched it and was ready to go.... while waiting the 6 months for surgery a 4yr old asked, "Why are your legs so big?" that sealed the deal for me.
