Anyone Weigh Or Did Weigh 330?
shrinkydinkme replied to SleeveShelly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was close at 309pounds to start. I lost 25 during the 6 month pre-op and was 284pounds on surgery day Aug. 1st. I have lost another 24 in the 5 weeks since my surgery. All went well for me, I have been able to meet all liquid and protein totals every day. Excited for you, it is so nice to have the sleeve to help me with the weight struggle I have had for so long. -

Psych Eval And At The Halfway Mark!
shrinkydinkme replied to Huntingnurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just keep calling and being open if a cancelation pops up. Do every visit you can as soon as you can and follow every instruction, even double check that someone else did not make an error that will hold you up. I did and was able to turn what everyone sad would be a year into a six month process. Hope it works out for you that things can go faster then expected, use this time to prepare for the necessary lifestyle changes and loose as much as possible so you are that much closer to your goal. -
How Many Times Did You Make Yourself Sick....
shrinkydinkme replied to Curvy Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 weeks out and did it once missing a fun night out with girlfriends because it hurt so bad for about an hour and almost slimed! 2 other times there was a little bit of pain but I am learning that is my full signal and I do not dare take one more bite. There was a week I struggled with not getting to take a last bite, just some mental satisfaction thing related to head hunger. Now I seem to know how little to put on my plate and I also try to ask some one at the table a question after every 2 small bites to slow myself down. -
I am 5 weeks post-op and in all my preparation no one ever had a concern. It was always noted on my medical history and they asked if it was controlled. The steroids in some of your medications may hinder healing. It is the time of year I am not on any of those so that was not addressed for me either.

the fear of them not being willing to do surgery if we gained.... the threat was there before us and we were told it had happened to others. Surgeons unwilling to do surgery if you gained. That accountability made me change my food choices duing the months before surgery... even went on a 7 day cruise gained 3 pounds and lost it the next 2 weeks. I wanted this surgery BADLY! Go to all liquids if you need to.... do what ever it takes for you

Stupid Question .... Protein Shakes
shrinkydinkme replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my plan uses them through day 90 (3 months) and I can not see getting in enough protien with out them. I only need one a day with 30grams of protien so that is all I use but how would you get the 80-100 suggested grams 6+ months out without one? -

Has Anyone Tried Zero Carb Isopure?
shrinkydinkme replied to sarahmoni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried 6 Isopure flavors and hated them all. Don't over buy... sample. It is so hard to know what you will like post-op and even 3 weeks post-op my likes for certain things changed again. My favorite was the syntax nectar cappuccino and crystal sky ( kind of coconut tropical) I go 11 sample packs from BJsbariatrics.com and VSTalk is a code for $7.50 off a $30 order. And when 17 days post op I could no longer tolerate the chewable Celebrate vitamins I thought tasted like candy after surgery... so they exchanged them for the capsules I wanted. GREAT service! -
http://xnet.kp.org/misg/bariatrics/after.html this is the menu I was given and yes mashed potatoes if thinned.

Need A Term For Finally Having Less Than 100 To Lose
shrinkydinkme replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just thinking the same thing.... I am 5 pounds away from 100 to goal and feel like there should be a name for that achievement. Wonderleft... or Underhunder.... I will keep thinking! -
Hi all, I am 50 and was sleeved on August 1st exactly 1 week after my 50th birthday. So far all is going well, I am one month post op and am down 44 lbs. (25 were pre op diet) I am still weak and tired but have been at the gym consistently the last week and a half. Excited or this journey and my knees feel better already! Not excited for the skin sag/wrinkles, but praying it is minimal and prefer it over fat!

I told my sushi waiter I was on a low carb diet and requested the mixed crab filling from my favorite roll and they served it to me in a bowl with a bit of spicy tuna on top. It was awesome and one serving was 3-4 meals. I've been twice this week but need to watch the salt intake from the soy sauce.

needed this question too...I am an Aug. 1st sleever and stalled currently even though I am following every instruction about diet and exercise.... it is quite a test of perserverence. I just know there is no way to live like this and not begin loosing again, ready and waiting for the fat to start melting away. Glad I'm not the only one.
