Struggling With Protein
shrinkydinkme replied to Threetimesacharm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Premiere shakes with some ice to cool and thin them. 30grams of protein in 11oz so if you can get two of them in you are at 60grams of protein for the day. They took priority over water for me. I only like the chocolate, hated the vanilla. Got mine at both Costco and Sam's club. I added the unflavored Unjury protein to chicken broth for more protein and liquid the first week. -
Starting to like the feeling of this new active lifestyle and referencing the gym and myself in the same sentence.

How Long Did Your Stall Last?
shrinkydinkme replied to bandita's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my first stall at 2 1/2 weeks lasted 10 days and I came out of it with my regular about a half pound a day drop. Second stall was at 6 weeks and I am in day 9 of it .... really not liking this monthly stall I have but not much you can do except keep doing the right things. -
They did not tell me and I did not ask. I knew pre-op the amount I could eat (2 large chicken breasts or a 16oz Prime rib) and the size of a carbonated drink I could consume quickly, made me sure no matter what the size of the bougie I would be so restricted I would be successful. When I saw the photos on here of how small they all were. (do a search for picture) I was not worried. 2nd Post Op is in a few weeks and if I remember I will ask.

August Sleevers. What Is The Progress? How Are You Feeling
shrinkydinkme replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgery was Aug. 1st and all went well. I have been able to drink as much and what ever I desired since day 4 which is a bit scary but good. Biggest struggle has been tiredness/weakness especially the first few weeks. And my family telling me I am much more moody/grumpy then I use to be. Well 2 periods and the 10 day weight loss stall don't make a girl very smiley! I started walking/biking at gym about 3 weeks, out 25min to start now 45min and began lifting weights this 6th week. I also started on regular foods now, and it seems to be going good. about 600-700 Calories, 70-80grams of Protein, 70 oz liquids ( not a Water person) and 30-40 carbs . Tolerated everything so far except my sweet chewable Vitamins (strawberry pineapple) I originally loved on day 17, they came back up. I am 25 down since surgery and 25 during 6 months of pre-op. 50 total is so exciting to me and jean size 24 are now down to 20 (18's fit but not comfortable yet). Can not believe the lack of hunger and small amount that fills me up. Still fight the head hunger sometimes though. This is what I hoped it would be like. I am still super sensitive to smells, and decaf coffee I can drink but it is not my favorite like it use to be. I miss loving coffee. iggy I will continue to pray for you. Sorry this has been so hard but glad you will be ok in time. -

Tired All The Time
shrinkydinkme replied to NCsleever63's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This tiredness & lack of energy has been the hardest part for me... I am 6 weeks post-op today and better then at 4 weeks just not the person with the energy I was before. I do notice that each week gets better, I get in the recommended 60-80gr of protein and 400-600 calories ( sometimes a bit more) plus vitamins and am suppose to stay at this level until week 12. For me I am accepting it is just part of the process and why I was told they recommend you take 6 weeks off work. Just seems that the 50 pound weight loss would make me able to be more active instead of less. It will come with time. -

Two Month Post-Op Pictures!
shrinkydinkme replied to Giselle3264's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You are doing great! Thanks for sharing. -
My tip would be to put the nothing to drink 30 minutes before you want to eat and 30 minutes after you finish into play. For me this changed my desire for many of my head hunger foods. I have to agree that after surgery it is completely different. When head hunger hits, you want to eat something but have no physical desire to actually eat it. The salivating, driving, obsessive thought of the foods you use to want is no longer there. You will drive by a place you use to frequent, or get into a situation in which you use to consume a certain food and not struggle/desire it the same way physically. You will quickly learn you can not eat the way you use to quickly and in large bites you washed down with a drink. It is more like you are mad that you do not want it anymore, even though you are glad, it was such a habit- it is almost frustrating. I do not think it is explainable, you will just have to experience it. It is not what I use to be like, pre surgery there was no end to hunger and the desire to eat just kept increasing, never felt satisfied for long and now I feel satisfied all the time and on just a small half cup amount, sometimes even less. You can not eat the quantity you use to and if you eat the dense protein first, you are full and if you did not drink 30 minutes before or after you stay full for a long time. Hope this kind of helps and makes sense

I Reached Underhunder Today! Have You Made It?
shrinkydinkme posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I just reached UNDERHUNDER! Yep, less then a hundred pounds left to reach goal. I am 5 and a half weeks out from my sleeve surgery and 25 pounds down since that day. So excited to have made it to what is 1/3 of the journey down for me. Survived a 10 day stall and am currently 4 days from regular foods. For me these first 6 weeks, that seemed like they would take so long with the recovery and special foods, seemed to fly by. Thanks to all of you and the support you have given me, and thank you Jesus for the hope and freedom that I have. -
Did Anyone Not Do A Leak Test?

No leak test after surgery and I am not sure if they did one during the surgery, it was never mentioned and I never asked. -
