Skinny kid who loved food, but was so active she got away with it....
Teenager who loved food, ate a lot, but grew 10 inches and ran cross country so my bad habits did not catch up with me....
College girl who loved food, ate far too much but was competing and coaching so a little gain here or there was quickly lost....
Got married, gained some
Got pregnant, gained a lot
Got pregnant, gained even more
Got in a car accident, gained again
Got a stressful secretarial job, gained,
Got to help mom through lung cancer, gained, gained....
Got to live through husbands 1yr. of unemployment, gained
Got to take mom to radiation and more chemo, gained
Decided I needed to do what I was always unwilling to consider weight loss surgery. I talked to my doctor and a few friends who had gastric bypass and decided I could not do that... until one day someone told me about the sleeve. That I knew I could do and I knew something had to be done! I made an appointment with my Kaiser doctor and started the 6month process of Options classes and preparation and here I am with my surgery in 3 days on Aug. 1, 2012.
Excited, but not looking forward to the difficulty of the first month. Can not stop talking (with the few I have told I am having surgery) about the years ahead!!! Everything I have done this summer from rollerskating and the pool to the Alaska cruise and week long stay at the beach condo -I have done while imagining how much more enjoyable it will be next summer to do any of the same types of things.
Next Summer I will have one child going to Jr. High, one graduating High School and my oldest graduating from College and then probably getting married so lots of pictures to be skinny for. I am looking forward to returning to the ease of the active healthy lifestyle I use to have. I have grown weary of all the daily inconveniences and concerns that come with being overweight and feel like I have been in prison in this body and my release date is almost here!
