Oh, the only things I have left to do are, ABG's, an all day education class (nutrition I think), and to meet with my doctor again. I have my ABG's on Sept 30th, and I'm going to pick up my preop diet info at that time.

My surgery date is Nov 11th. My doctor will not set a date until ins approval, and I got the call on Sept 23rd that I had a date. I'm so excited. Having mine through River Oaks Transformations in Jackson, MS. Lots of TX folks. I have a brother that lives in Austin.

Almost 5 years ago, I gave up dt. coke, but then when I started nursing school, I started drinking them again. The problem had gotten really bad, but I'm slowing down on them. I have surgery on Nov 11th, so I need to cut them out again. Is it the carbonation that is the problem for post-surgery?

Do family & friends think you're doing the right thing?
Goslin replied to Mid West's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got my surgery date this week. It is for Nov 11th. I've been planning it since the end of January. My mom is supportive, but still wishes I wouldn't. Others just ask if I am scared. I'm not receiving any real negative comments, though. -
This is wonderful!

Do you ever regret your surgery?
Goslin replied to Strangefruit's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm at the start of my journey with all the planning to get surgery. This his me straight on at the thought of losing my friend in food for comfort, stress, etc. I know that it is a cruel friend, but I always go back for more punishment. I'm looking forward to not feeling the regret and shame that I feel now after I have visited and partied with food. I look forward to not feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. I look forward to playing with my children and not getting winded or feeling like the michelin man. Thank you for starting this thread. I like seeing if anyone has regrets. -

I have made homemade pizza with a califlower crust. It is delish! Everyone in the family loved it, even those who don't like veggies.

Hi, I am getting to go to a seminar tomorrow about the surgery. This is the first step for the surgeons here. I can't wait!!!!! I'm very curious what they are going to say, and I pray, hope, and have all fingers/toes crossed that the process will go smoothly. Hope to be seeing y'all around a lot over the next year or so, and hopefully, having had surgery sooner than later.

New Here And New To Sleeve Surgery
Goslin replied to Debbi Farmer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
How tragic. I'm in nursing school now, and I see nurses that don't attend as well as they should, but definitely better than what you had. I'm so sorry. Glad to hear that you are doing better now. Please give your surgeon an ear full. -
I have done HCG and was wondering about it with the sleeve. I always end up going back to sugar. My sis has done great and maintain, being smaller at a higher weight, than she ever was without HCG. She and I both have done/do the homeopathic HCG. It has always dones well for me. I was asking a friend who mentors people about HCG what she thought about taking after surgery. She agreed with my thinking that it would be perfect. It is releasing 2000-4000 calories per day of fat when on the 500 cal diet. Well, there is no room for cheating when your stomach is small. BTW, it does wonders for the skin and losing in the right place. So, did any of you end up doing this last year after being sleeved.?

I saw a doctor on the internet in S. Louisiana that can do revisions to a gastric bypass. Basically, it was for the people that had gained weight back, and he would go in endoscopically and make their stomach smaller. I don't remember the clinic's name, but I do remember it was in LA. You might want to search it, and see if they can help. So sorry this has happened.

Long Term Effect-Gastric Sleeve
Goslin replied to jewels1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Do you know if doctors ever use suture instead of staples. I'm worried about allergies. When I had my c-sections, the staples irritated me. I would be a lot happier with suture. -
Long Term Effect-Gastric Sleeve
Goslin replied to jewels1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Is there a website to check out doctors records, or do you just have to ask the doctor? BTW, I don't see how the sleeve can be any more dangerous than my Mimi or my stepdad having their stomachs removed for ulcers. My mimi had 3/4 of hers done in the 60's, and never had complicaitons. -
Even though I have not had surgery(hope to have it this summer), I take my vitamins. Most of us are Vit D deficient, so it doesn't hurt if we take more of the D3. Of course, with your location, you may get enough, if you spend enough time outside. However, I will not dispute that A,D,E,K are fat soluble, and are the ones that can be overdosed on.

I have definitely had many "congratulations" on the pregnancy. I just laugh it off, and say that i would rather people think that I am pregnant, than just fat. LOL

Frustrated With My Tummy
Goslin replied to Tlmiller2971's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Extended release pills should never be crushed. They lose the effectiveness of extended release and you are getting the full dosage at one. Maybe call your doctor and ask for something that is not extended release or enteric coated. If they are not those 2 things, then you can crush them.
