Headaches! HELP!
Snufflegus replied to Collegegang77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may want to add in one of the low calorie gatoraide or powerades for electrolytes so your body can better use the water you are taking in. I live in Florida and my doctor told me to drink atleast one bottle a day as part of my water in take. -
You could also be swallowing a lot of air, even though you don't feel like you are. That can upset your tummy as well.

Drainage tube or bulb whatever its called
Snufflegus replied to amna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine didnt hurt just felt weird pulling out, one release of a deep breath and it's out. My "wound" has healed better than my incision points. Nothing to worry about what so ever! -
Those drinks count as fluid intake, 64oz is what you should be shooting for

(Exercise) Being sleeved June 21st :)
Snufflegus replied to colcol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have seen many people on here lose quite a bit without upping their exercise at all. So I think as long as you get your foods pretty close to where you need to be you will get where you want to begin your workouts. Me personally I have begun walking as much as I can muster (I'm 11 days post) and will continue adding more each day until I'm cleared to workout -
Disolvable sutures...
Snufflegus replied to danelle235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said the fishing line type sutures to not pull those, that is holding together the incision on the inside, he said that I could hold the skin taught and have my husband clip them flush with a pair of scissors if it was bothering me. So far I have had no issues, but am only a week and a half out. -
OCC & Dr. Ariel Ortiz - My Story
Snufflegus replied to Trixie2012's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
So I was recently sleeved in the US by an amazing doctor and during my wait for my surgery date my husband has been talking about going to have the surgery as well. I choose to have the surgery here in the US and my specific doctor even though I was self-pay just for a piece of mind. None the less my hubby is considering Mxico and one of the doctors we have found and are very interested in is Dr.Ariel Ortiez and OCC. He of course will be going for VSG, most of the reviews I am finding are band related. Also, due to me being of work recently for my own surgery, I am not sure I can travel with him, will it be okay for him to be by himself while there? Thanks! -
Ice chips probably but yes I don't think it hurt too bad to swallow, kinda like a sore throat! You are there, you got this!! Thoughts and well wishes for you and a speedy recovery!

Hi Skip! Welcome to one of the best decisions I feel one can make for themselves! I am exactly one week post-op so I'm new to being on the losers bench, but my journey thus far has been pretty great! I can tell you this, this board is a great sounding board and many times you will get both sides of any question answered!

Ughhh this is fustrating
Snufflegus replied to aamandddaaaahunt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know your appointment is tomorrow but I just want to suggest Greek yogurt. You get a ton of Protein for the size of a serving, I think the last type I got was 12g protein for a 5.3oz cup. I use the vanilla or original flavors the. Add a little of sugar free pudding powder to change the flavors up a little. Yum! I was on Clear liquids days 1-3 post op, now on full liquids aiming for 60-80oz or protein. Full liquids include yogurt, pudding, protein shakes, cream of Soups that are strained out, no sugar added applesauce etc...also it really surprises me how quick certain things make you full when the same amount of something else leaves you wanting more Good luck with your appointment! I'm sure he will move you to your next stage. -
Not super close but I'm in Ocala. I know there are several of us from central Florida on here. PS I'm 6 days post op - sleeved in Orlando by Dr. Jawad.

I'm 3 days post-op and feeling great! I did over do it tonight going to the store, but just needed to get liquids and rest. My pain was very minimal after surgery and had no nausea it truly felt like I had a pair of pants on 2 sizes too small. My throat hurt worse than my tummy did! Just take a deep breathe and keep a positive attitude! My pain is almost all gone, if you would call it pain, feels like I had an amazing core work out yesterday. Plan everything out and be prepared before going in having your next stage or two of good prepared! The next few weeks are going to fly by!!

What to have ready...
Snufflegus replied to superstarsandi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also I saw your surgery is 3 hours from home, plan on stopping a few times on the ride home, mine was an hour and 15 min away and we stopped twice just so I could move and help relieve some gas pain. My PT suggested walking around the car once or twice then I'd be good to go. -

G2 Gatorade or the calorie free Powerade. Sugar Free Popsicles, any meds they may give you (pain, nausea) that you need afterwards, broth, gas x tabs (if your doctor says they are okay) although I just walk when I feel gas pain. sugar free Jello. I am on Clear liquids the first 3 days post - was sleeved on 5/22/13. Then on to full liquids so I have some of this but will plan on shopping for more once I know what I tolerate. I have lived off of the Gatorade and Popsicles and get pretty close to my fluids in each day. -
So I have a trick I use with my chicken flavored unjury, I mix a small amount of Water 2-3 oz that is tap water warm with the powder and dissolve it with that, then for me because I like the broth I heat the rest of the 8 oz up as hot as I like and mix them together. I have not had clump problems doing it this way. I'm not a huge fan of the unflavored, tried mixing it with the orange flavor crystal light and couldn't drink it. Will try putting it in some food before giving up on it.

Self pay but hoping my pcp will help with lab work so insurance will pay some
Snufflegus replied to cumbie76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have bcbs and am self pay as well - I didn't have to go to my pcp I took my surgeons orders to places that would accept a dr. Order as well as my insurance. I only had to pay the co-pay or deductible at each one. I don't know if you know but being self pay, keep all of your receipts and you should be able to write it off on your taxes. Not all policies of BCBS cover WLS. I work for a small company and am glad we have insurance but it WLS was an opt in or out for the business and me being the only person who would consider it wasn't worth it for the company to pay the crazy amount to opt in. -
Hi all, Just curious for some recommendations on a model or brand of scale to get to help track my journey. My only requirement is that it have a capacity of 440lbs. Thanks!

Thank you all for your help!! I will check them out!

Feeling REALLY down
Snufflegus replied to NeverBeTheSameAgain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I'm from the heavier side as well, but I choose to love me for who I am. I agree with the taking measurements and pictures pre-op. If you don't want to see the pics now, I saw a post of someone suggesting to get a disposable camera and take 2 pictures each month and on your year get it developed so you can see the changes and how far you have come in the year. Where you are and decisions you have made are huge and we are all so proud of you! Can't wait to be on the losers bench! -

Snufflegus replied to angelaraposo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes! I started my 2 week pre-op diet on Wednesday, and when I got home from work and all of my vitamins and such were sitting at my door step it made it so very real! My pre-op is next Friday. I completely hear you on the when the time hits you, you get every emotion coming through your mind, but I am so ready for this anything negative is quickly put to rest. -
