Short People Success Stories?
Crystal Woods replied to Thinner Peace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello fellow shorties! I am 5'0" and my start weight was 228. I was round all over but I was always a little more bottom heavy. Today I weigh 121. I want to lose 11 more. My sleeve was done on 03/01/12. I lost up top before I started losing on the bottom half. I think everyone loses differently. -

How To Lose The Last 10 Lbs.....
Crystal Woods replied to Blugirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 03/01/12 so I am about 8 months out. At 5 months I had lost around 95 pounds and then I stalled out. The past month I have been trying to get the last 18 off. When I started I had not lost anything in about 6-8 weeks. I started by eating only grilled chicken lightly marinated and drinking water for a day then the next day going back to what I would normally eat... Then repeat. It hasn't been super fast but I have lost 6 pounds this month. I have 11 to get to goal. I can't swear it will work but it seems to be working for me. Good Luck! -

Infected Incisions?
Crystal Woods replied to CCCross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister had her sleeve 2 weeks ago. 3 of her incisions became gooey and had puss in them. They put her on an antibiotic and had her clean them with some kind of cleaning agent a couple times a day and they were clean in a couple days. -

Crystal Woods replied to taide's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my sleeve by Dr. Almanza in Mexico and I was offered post op insurance through Clinica Jerusalem for I think an additional $400.... That was March 1st surgery date so I am not certain they still offer it. -
Woohoo! That's wonderful! Congrats!!!

My New Nsv! :)
Crystal Woods replied to Crystal Woods's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only 5' 0" tall. I had my sleeve on 03/01/2012 and I have only lost 3 pounds in the last 2 months. The rules I followed and did not break and that worked for me were: (1) no carbonated beverages (2) no breads, pastas, or other grains (3) really easy on the sweets - I drink unsweet tea instead or regular, I have 1 square of a candy bar instead of the whole bar, etc Other things I did were (1) remembering that after the sleeve I no longer can feel hunger so when I caught myself saying I was hungry I corrected myself and over time it became habit to say I am not hungry every time I see food I want to eat... (2) I didn't force myself to eat. I didn't eat all I could to try to meet my calorie and Protein requirements- yes I did lose lots of hair but my bloodwork consistently looks great and I feel great. Some days I would only take in 200 calories other days closer to 600 right now it fluctuates between 300 and 900 typically. (3) I weigh daily to keep myself motivated and focused on my health and body. Everyone is different and I am sure there are critics already tearing this apart but the bottom line is that it worked for me. -
When Will I Stop Regretting Having This Done?
Crystal Woods replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone struggles the first couple weeks to adjust. I think it takes between 4 and 6 weeks to accept and be happy with your decision. You are able to eat normally after several months. Not like you used to eat but what a normal person should eat. I am 6 months out and I have lost 100 pounds and I think God for my sleeve every day. -
Ovarian Cystectomy
Crystal Woods replied to AliveAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had 2 surgeries to remove cysts from my ovaries. Luckily it was several years ago and before my VSG. My surgery was laparoscopic and it was not a bad recovery. -
He subject says it all! I finally after almost 6 months broke down and shopped for new clothes! Everything I bought is a size 4!!! 97 pounds down and 21 to go to goal! I started at 228 and now weigh 131! Thank you God for VSG!

Size 18-20 To A Size 4

Also to answer the question about hunger... No I don't ever feel hungry. Everyone gets head hunger but after the sleeve there is no physical hunger pains. -

I eat fruit on occasion but not daily. The first several weeks out from surgery (after the liquids stage) I ate fruit bc it was easy to get down. It typically has a lot of sugar in it which makes me crave more sweets. I eat homemade quacamole several times a week. We make it with 1 avacodo, 1 large tomato, 1 yellow onion, lemon juice, salt and pepper and it is so yummy. -

Hey guys... I am going to try to answer all the questions but if I leave anything out let me know... First off food intake - I average between 400 and 600 calories a day. Yes that number is low but my bloodwork is great and I feel great. I do still struggle to take in as much Protein as I am supposed to. Typical Foods - I eat a lot of grilled chicken, salad with vinegarette dressings, oven baked bologna, milk, etc. I drink atleast 1 cup of heart healthy fat free milk each day with a tablespoon of nesquick. I think it curbs my sweet tooth. The rules I swear by - I avoid breads, pastas, and pretty much all grains. Every once in a while I have a bite or two. I also avoid carbonated beverages. I avoid crackers, chips, and Cookies bc they go down way to easy and are too fattening. Exercise - I do not have an exercise routine. I have 3 kids and I coach softball. I try to stay active during the day either with my dogs (I work with a Pitbull rescue), my kids, or cleaning house. Throughout the day I focus on tightening my muscles, I do counter push ups, work on my posture when sitting, etc. Loose skin - I have a lip of skin on my stomach that I hate but I have had 3 c-sections so I had it before the weight loss. My arms look fine with no real lose skin to note. The inside top of my thighs look a little lose and wrinkly but not so much that I am uncomfortable in booty shorts. My breasts however are a different story. I weighed 120 when I got prego with my first child and I went from a B cup to an F... After three kids I was a droopy triple D. Now I am a 32 D but they look like tube socks with a tennis ball when I lean over (sorry for the visual!). I am still steady losing but much more slowly. My surgery date was 03/01/2012 so I have lost 98 pounds now in less than 6 months. Thanks for all the congrats! I will try to get my before and currents posted tomorrow. -
Size 18-20 To A Size 4
Crystal Woods replied to Crystal Woods's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I had sworn off buying clothes because I really can't afford to buy clothes to only wear them for a couple months. I did have to break down and buy 1 dress for a wedding and I believe it was a size 16 several months ago. Then about a month ago a friend gave me several size 6 jeans and I was afraid to try them on .... I was also given a couple shirts in a medium from a sister a couple months ago but seriously never dreamed that a 4 bottoms and an extra small top would fit I have been wearing a lot of draw string pants, etc. -

Size 18-20 To A Size 4
Crystal Woods replied to Crystal Woods's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys! I can't talk to my friends that have never had a weight problem. They just don't get it. I felt like I won the lottery. -
I will be six months post op on September 1st. My start weight was 228, my goal weight is 110, and my current weight is 131. I have lost 97 pounds so far. I am in no way an expert but I know that I tend to make excuses for why I can eat things- ex. I worked out harder today... Etc... So when I had the sleeve I made a commitment to myself to get the weight off before I had a chance to feel disappointed at slow loss or to rationalize why I can eat more. My typical day is between 400 and 600 calories. I average approx 1/2 to 1 hour of exercise a day. Anything over 800 calories does seem high to me but I am not a nutritionist or an expert by any means.
