I just got over a nasty kidney infection and coincidentally had my 6mo post-op appt right in the midst of it. I thought it may have been a stone so I asked. My Dr said any type of stones (kidney, gall) are more common post op. Just make sure you hydrate hydrate hydrate hydrate!

191# this morning... A 2# loss this week. I'll take it! It's amazing that after so long of trying so hard to lose the weight and seeing the scale stagnant or move up, to see how easily and steadily it's coming off now. I know our journeys are not easy, but compared to the stress and hell we were going through before and seeing minimal results, this is a cake walk!

Will I Have To Drink Protein Drinks Forever?
Lilee84 replied to AbbieRoad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never been able to tolerate the shakes, even during my two week liquid pre-op diet, and post op I didn't start getting protein in until I was back on solids and could eat meat gain. Shrimp is super high in protein, 4oz has about 25g and only 110 calories - I eat a lot of shrimp. If you can't find a protein you can tolerate, just find a way to make sure you get it all in -
I generally get about 60-70g of carbs a day also so not into the ketosis level of low carb, but low enough. My typical day looks like this: Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled with ketchup Snack - yoplait light yogurt lunch - tuna or chicken salad with 5-6 crackers I usually don't eat it all Snack - the rest of my lunch dinner - chicken or fish and some type of veggie Snack - SF popsicle My typical day is between 800 and 1000 calories, 60-65g of Protein and about 60-70g of carbs.

I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point... Tour body has been processing nothing but liquids for almost a month, its common for your bowel movements to slow. Most of us only go once or twice a week since were not taking in as much.

Are you still on a liquid diet or are you on to purees?

Have To Hold My Belly When I Walk
Lilee84 replied to lowe1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can get a binder - I used the one I had from my c-section and it worked great, but if you don't have one you can use an ace bandage but they bind and roll and aren't very comfortable. -
A) how far out are you? And I don't see it as a big deal if you go over 700 calories because of a protein shake, but I would try to stay under 1200 calories a day if you're anywhere near maintenance... Also, what has your Dr said about this?

It's pretty normal... The portion of your stomach that they removed was removed on the right and they had to really pull to stretch the incision so they could get it out. I had the same thing and that's what my PA told me.

The reason so many Bypass patients look gray and saggy is because their procedure is both restrictive and malabsorptive, meaning not only does it restrict their food intake, it also restricts what their body absorbs from what they *do* intake, including nutrients. Our surgery is just restrictive and doesn't restrict our bodies absorption of the nutrients from the food we intake. As for saggy skin, that has a lot to do with genetics but can also be effected by Vitamin and mineral deficiencies which most sleevers don't experience.

You're in LA so probably. I'm not sure what the weather is like there in November, but here we can buy summer clothes all year round. You could also try and guess what size you'll be by then, if nothing else it'll be motivation to get you there, or if they're just a tad too big that's OK too. I bought the dress for my BFF's wedding about 2 months in advance in the size I thought I'd be. Luckily it fit beautifully. Just remember your weight loss will slow down so make sure you're realistic with your sizing if you do decide to guesstimate.

Wait until about a week or two before your trip to buy anything.

I haven't had them, but if you're looking for a low-cal low-sugar adult beverage, I'm a huge fan of any of the Crystal Light "adult" beverages. Just mix with your favorite liquor and enjoy! Last weekend I enjoyed a crystal light apple-tini with Skyy Vodka, but my usual poison is Crystal Light Lemonade and Bacardi Enjoy!

Question For The Women...

Surgery usually brings on TOM anyway so you should be fine. Like PP said, just handle it the way you normally would -
What Does A Leak Feel Like?
Lilee84 replied to kmbrlycool's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far out are you? Heartburn and leaks are generally not synonymous, and for the first 4-6 weeks heartburn generally doesn't have much to do with what you're eating, but rather your stomach adjusting to it's new size. Remember your stomach used to be bigger, and therefore more stomach acid needed to be produced to digest your larger food intake. Your stomach is going through an adjustment process just like you, and it takes time for it to do so. Check out the FAQ's pinned up top for typical signs and symptoms of a leak. -
Juices are generally frowned upon because of their high sugar content. If you're going to drink it, try diluting it with water
