Week 4, How Do Get In My Protein? Will I Be Doing Shakes Forever?
Lilee84 replied to Changing B4YourEyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can't get your protein in with regular food, shakes are the only way to go. -
How Pcos Effects Women After Vsg - Questions
Lilee84 replied to vdunn87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im not sure about PCOS and what effect surgery has on it, but i do know you are SUPER fertile post op. Being overweight does negatively impact your fertility which is why many larger women have trouble getting KU -
Once you start on mushies, purses, and regular food you'll feel your restriction - liquids go down easier usually. You're fine, just try not to drink too much too fast, you'll know if you do. That's one thing you can.be sure of is that your new stomach will let you know if its unhappy

5 Days Post Op-Large Purple "bruise"-No Pain
Lilee84 replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The bruising is a result of them having to use retractors to pull apart the incision that they pulled the removed portion of your stomach out of. Totally normal and nothing to worry about. If you check out my 3day post op video on YouTube you'll see mine. -
40 Hours Before Surgery And Starting To Get Cold Feet! Help!
Lilee84 replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 6 1/2 mos post op I have lost 90lbs, dropped from a size 24/26 to a size 14, have more energy than I have had since before I gained the weight, am able to run after my 2 year old without getting winded, I feel attractive again, I feel HEALTHY again, I am confident that I'll remain healthy enough to watch my son grow into the amazing man I'm sure he's going to be, and most importantly he'll be free of the food issues I had because now on top of my already healthy menu, my portions are healthy too. If that's not enough to warm up those cold feet, I'm not sure anything will... -
That is true Rissy - Protein is always first, followed by veggies, and lastly grains if you have room. Most often, you won't have room for them, especially not during the puree or mushy stages when your tummy is still swollen. Plus, pasta/bread/etc... absorb moisture and expand in your stomach - believe me when I say that does NOT feel good! It's going to be a long time before you enjoy pasta again.

Puree is baby food consistency, not just mushy with no solid pieces... There is a difference, and the next stage you'll move on to will be soft/mushy stage, but if you're on purees you should probably try and stick with purees. Your poor tummy needs time to heal Check out the FAQ up top for some inspiration on what to eat and any other questions you may have as a new member of the losers bench!

Even pre-op sugar has never sat well with me, so my go to has always been an iced quad venti, non-fat, sugar free french vanilla latte - I was restricted from coffee of caffeine of any kind for 30 days I think? I could have decaf tea, but the acid in the coffee, even decaf, was a no no per my surgeon. That being said, you're far enough out to where you should be fine, but like PPs have said, go for a skinny, sugar free version so you don't upset your sleeve

What'd I do?

Coffee AND protein? Amazing! I love coffee, and it pretty much masks most nasty protein flavor, but you're right, that is pretty pricey. Maybe I'll just start tossing a scoop of protein powder in with my iced coffee in the morning...

The short version is that it's when you deprive your body of carbs so that instead of burning carbs for energy your body is forced to start burning fat for energy. Here's the longer version http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/faq/f/whatisketosis.htm

Has Anyone Gone Into Ketosis With Diet Instead Of Shakes?
Lilee84 replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was supposed to be on shakes, the only food I was supposed to have was two yogurts a day and a small salad for lunch. I ate the yogurt and salad and substituted chicken or eggs for the shakes. -
Has Anyone Gone Into Ketosis With Diet Instead Of Shakes?
Lilee84 replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't go on a full liquid diet, I substituted Protein for shakes when I was on my pre op diet. And I've gone into ketosis plenty of times throughout my life, without shakes. -
How far out are you? Any other symptoms? Definitely call your surgeon or go to the ER if you don't get some relief by morning - sounds like a leak to me.

That depends on how many oz the bottles hold. If they're the 12oz bottles, between 6 and 8, if they're bigger than less, smaller than more. You should be consuming about 80oz of fluids a day

Hey all! Almost 30 single mama from Orlando here! Sleeved 1/20 and LOVING it! I've been single 2 1/2 years, mostly by choice, and I wouldn't have it any other way! My sons father and I split when I was 4mo pregnant and I haven't been with anyone else since. At first it was because I was pregnant and huge and no one would want me, and then for a while it was because I was a new single mom and didn't have time to go out, and then because I felt like I needed to devote my every waking minute to my son. Now, however, I'm single because I want to be. I would rather focus on my son, my career, and my education and get those all in check before I try and juggle a relationship too. I go out on dates and the like, but I'm in no rush to get serious anytime soon. The only down side to my swearing off of men is that since I've lost almost 90# my sex drive is back with a vengeance and it's been 2 1/2 years since I've had any! That's not to say I couldn't walk into a bar and walk out with a guy, but I'm not that girl anymore and I just can't see myself doing that again.

Bringing My 20's To A Close With A New Healthy Me!
Lilee84 replied to chantal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations! It was the best decision I ever made and I couldn't be happier with my progress! You need to be around for your kids and you need to be healthy for them and that's what you're doing. Next time mom says something negative about it, just tell her that you're doing it for your children and as a mother you'd hoped she'd understand that. -

I shared this on FB and thought you guys might enjoy it as well... Onderland is that chick at the party that flirts with you all night, makes out with you in the laundry room, and then at the end of the night says shes not that kind of girl... Right now were making out in the laundry room but I have a feeling the next time I step on the scale she'll tell me she's not that kind of girl... Weighing in at 199.8 today but we'll see what Saturday brings!

I have only had my cycle twice since I got it - once right after surgery and last week when i had a nasty kidney infection. I've had mine in for a year and a half and haven't experienced any negatives... I love it! When this ones done I'll replace it with another, unless of course I'm ready for another by then

How Do I Ask My Insurance Company...
Lilee84 replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most insurance companies do not cover skin removal as it is considered cosmetic and elective. The only circumstances where I've ever heard of an insurance company paying for plastic surgery is where a person developed rashes or infections in the folds of their excess skin. If you want to check, I'd just call and ask if they cover plastic surgery or under conditions would they cover plastic surgery like abdominoplasty. -
I love eggs... Always have, always will. Any way you cook them, I'll eat them, but since being sleeved I've discovered that unless they've got ketchup on top (something I never would have eaten before,) I can't eat them. chicken HAS to have BBQ sauce on top no matter how it's prepared, broccoli has to be steamed plain with no cheese... I realize that food wise our tastes have changed but I'm just curious what other "weird" food preferences others have now that they may not have had before.
