    Can't Stop Eating

Im so sorry for your loss of your daughter coupled with congratulations on the birth of your son. You deserve much for credit for the stressors in your life. Given your circumstances it's natural that you're a little off course now. Just imagine words of comfort and praise you would say to your best friend - then say them to yourself Maybe make some small changes to get you back on track (vitamins, Water, etc..) the basics. There are lots of folks out here to support you. Take gentle care of yourself and you will naturally ease back into healthy choices for your body and soul. Many blessings are coming your way.
  2. Fear not! I only lost two pounds after 11 days. My doctor said every body is different. You and I might just might be the kind whose system kicks-in the weeks following surgery, not immediately. You're not alone and you're certainly not a failure. Stay strong, follow your physician's orders, and remain positive. The sleeve will respond and you will be smiling. This is just temporary.

    Moving To New Foods?

I had egg salad yesterday. After two weeks of liquids I never thought anything could taste so good. It took about 30 minutes to eat, but I was satisfied for hours. I'm looking forward to yoghurt and deli meat slices today. It's funny how these once very common foods are suddenly so marvelous. Bon Appetit!

    Water Pill

I was in the same position re-op. My toes looked like sausages and my hands like a bricklayer. The scale went up when I really needed it to go down. Your body will readjust to life without the diuretic, but it takes time and you will be puffy for a while. The good news is you will not be dehydrated. I would caution anyone about taking a diuretic unless prescribed by a doctor. Try to power-through a little longer with the retained water (your body clearly needs it) and the resultant weight gain (its only water). I promise you will balance out soon. Cheers!

    Sleeping On Your Back

I'm 10 days out and still trying to sleep on my back (with a wall of pillows surrounding me). My doc did not require back-sleeping, but rolling over was awful at first so I avoided twisting as much as possible. Recently, I tried my side for a couple of hours and awoke a little sore, but not unbearable. Maybe try a nap on your side. Then you'll know if you're good for an all-nighter. Sweet Dreams!

    K20?

I have the kiwi-strawberry. It's pretty good. I use more water than it calls for. It doesn't mix as easily as crystal lite. I'm still in the liquid phase 10 days out. It's just nice to have a little variety. Cheers!!

    ~April Sleevers~

I was sleeved on Friday April 6. I experienced moderate pain which has mostly subsided. No gas pain or nausea. My belly is still distended a little though and I have staples in place until Monday.. I haven't lost any weight. I'm adhering to the post-op diet perfectly -- liquids only. I g
  8. I'm a over-worked single mom who has battled weight for my whole life. Four years ago I had LapBand. I wanted the sleeve, but was told it was unavailable. I have been completely dissatisified with the band. It interferes with much of the daily life activities and work demands for me. I hate it. Sad but true, the band doesn't work for everyone. I gave it a good try, but I'm going for a revision to sleeve at almost the exact same weight as I was when I got the band. I know that the sleeve is not a cure-all, but I have my eyes wide open and I'm more positvive than I ever was with the band. Every person is different and every story is unique. Search your heart, talk to your family, go to classes and read everything on this site. You will find what's right for you and maybe you'll be a thin mentor to another, I wish you well on your journey.
  9. I understand that every patient is unique and every procedure personal. At the time I got my band the surgical nurse told me they routinely do the sleeve. I have great health coverage with Kaiser, it's just a shame I can't fully access to better my life. Mexico is looking more and more likely.
  10. Nope, I'm nothing special. The band interferes with equipment I wear at work - plain and simple. They know bypass works for everyone who gets it. End of story. I wanted the sleeve originally because of my concerns regarding having a foreign object in my body, but Richmond told me they don't do the surgery (a lie obviously). I really just need to hear from someone - anyone - out there who has had the revision surgery through norcal kaiser
  11. Hi All - I saw two different Kaiser SoSF physicians. I have a very good case for band removal and revision to VSG. They said they'd remove the band, would only do RNY not the sleeve. It felt like a threat since I am deadset against bypass (I lost a sister to the surgery). I know there are physicians in the Kaiser Southern Region that do band to sleeve revisions. If anyone out there and give me even a glimmer of hope regarding NorCal Kaiser actually doing a revision I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
  12. Greetings Everyone! Has anyone heard of a Kaiser patient getting a revision from Band to Sleeve? I got my band at Richmond (boo-hiss) and transferred my care to So SF. They're much much better, but I was pretty much told to make an appointment with a mortuary if I had a revision. I'd appreciate any news. Thanks
