Please helpme.... been in pain for two days!

Thanks for all your replies!!!! I did get to see the surgeon on Friday, though it was a different bariatric surgeon as mine is on holiday. He's assured me that nothing is stuck and it's simply a case of my band being a bit too tight. He's advised me to stick to a liquid diet for a couple of weeks while the swelling goes down. He did gice me the option of having some of the Fluid taken out but I decided against this unless it carries on for too long. I'm still very uncomfortable but it does seem to be improving day by day. I think the worst thing now is the back pain I'm getting with it - stange hey? I woke up this morning at 3.15am with really bad back pain adjacent to the band and really bad heart burn again - I could have cried!:cry What I'd give for some solid food again! :cry The main thing is I haven't got anything masjor wrong with me! He did tell me that if food was stuck I actually wouldn't be able to swallow my own saliva. Thanks again! XXXX -
Hello I've had my gastric band since December and had my 2nd band fill two weeks ago yesterday. It's definitely much tighter than it ever has been before as I can eat so much less. The problem is that I've had pain where my band is for almost 48 hours now. I don't know if I've got some food stuck or not, I have actually been removing food from my mouth if I can't chew it up to smooth. The pain is a sharp pain that is hurting my chest and around my back too, it sometimes surges to be worse. It's hard to explain! I've taken antacid tablets as I have had a bit of heartburn which I've not had since before I had the band until now. Do you think it's food stuck or is heartburn that much worse with a gastric band. I've contacted bupa and my surgeon but am waiting for someone to call me back. Has anyone else had the same problem? 48 hours seems an awful long time to feel like this! I've tried milk, antacids, coke to try and shift anything if there is something stuck, is there anything else I can try? I've tried making myself sick but can't manage it. Any advice gratefully received, I'm desperate! Nina X

did they forget to put the band in?

How fascinating! I'd love to see photo's of my procedure! Glad to hear you're feeling better. Sorry to hear about your job though. -
I had some really bad pains at my port site for about 3 weeks after surgery. It does go away. I don't feel it now at all! It's because it's attached to muscle. My port is on my left side. As long as it's inside not the actual would then i wouldn't worry too much. But if in doubt go back to your surgeon or Doctor! Hope you feel better soon!

I had 6mls for my first fill. I only have 2 fills included within the package price I paid for surgery. I can eat more now than when I first had my fill done. I think I might need a fill but the hospital keep telling me to leave it another month. Are you eating the right amount of food? I'm eating around 1200 calories a day now as my dietician recommended me too. She mad me keep a food diary and said she wasn't surprised I was hungry as I wasn't eating enough.

Good luck to both of you!!!! I felt very wierd the day before my surgery. It was almost like an out of body experience, just seemed so real. On the day itself I felt very relaxed about it all. At that point I knew I was making the right decision! My poor husband was much more nervous than me. -

Hope you feel better soon. It shouldn't take too long to settle down. I'm amazed they sent you hbome the same day! I was in agony the next day and as high as a kite and very sleepy on the day of surgery! The discomfort soon passes though. I had mine on 20th Dec and still managed to enjoy my birthday on Xmas Eve! I drank a lot of milk when I first had my band, that might help settle your stomach. Good luck! The doctor should be able to advise you. -
Hiya I was quite open with people about my surgery and they all supported me. I have a friend who I wasn't sure if I should tell her either. Even she was supportive. She basically said that if it made me happy to go for it. My father in law was the other person who I thought would be against the idea and even he was behind me. Sometimes people surprise you. It's up to you whether you decide to tell people or not. I was worried that if I didn't they would worry because I was eating so much less. You could always try to bring it up in general conversation to find out her views and decide from there. Good luck! X

I wish you all the best of luck whatever you decide to do. It should be your decision though, not your parents. It is quite a drastic action to take. I'm 31 now and have been dieting for as long as I can remember! I had my band fitted on 20 December 06 after uuumming and ahhing for ages. I've lost 3st 8 since October last year when I first went to see the dietician before surgery. I think it's the best thing I've done but it's definitely not a magic cure. You stil have to be careful what you eat and exercise. The weight loss, for me anyway, isn't as quick as I would like or as people expect it to be. I'm losing around 1-1.5lbs a week at the moment. Mind you it could never be fast enough for me.:biggrin1: My main reason for being banded was to help me maintain my weight loss rather than to make me lose the weight. I was so fed up with yo-yoing from 13st to 19st!!!! Hope I've helped. You wouldn't be human if you weren't nervous at the prospect of surgery and a complete change to your eating habits.
