    Pain?

Wow I know everyone is different but I am amazed the wide range of difficulty everyone has had with getting around or pain. I was fortunate to be up and walking an hour after getting out of recovery and walked the halls at least once an hour until I got released the next day. The only pain I had was from the gas they blow you up with. It settled behind my lungs and I was not able to lay down. They got me a big comfy surgial lounge chair and propped me up and I was very comfortable the whole nite. Gas trouble was gone by 6am the next morning. I was even able to sleep, and sleep well I did, on my stomach the first nite home. I hope more people have the easy route but those who don't I hope its just a short time in the pain zone.

    beer drinkers?

Copper, I was a beer drinker before banding. Dr recommended no beer or any carbonate products...but did say if I could handle the occasional beer it was fine. So I flew all the way to Vegas sat at a video Poker machjine and after pushing $40.00 thu=ru I got that free beer. After half a bottle that was it. Way to uncomfortable in stomach. So the beer which actually worked out costing me $574.00 didn't tase good anymore.

    What is the purpose

Penni your very close. I had severe sleep apnea and after it was found I was on what is called a c-pap. This machine just blows room air into your throat so you don't have any sleep stopage. There is another machine and I think its a p-pap and this one only activates when you stop breathing. When I was tested I was found to have stopped 477 times in the 8 hour test. So my c-pap was set at 15. 18 is max setting for humans. After my surgery and weight loss I was retested a few months ago and the c-pap has be re-calibrated to 6. Dr feels I'll be off totally by end of year. Its my understanding if your Dr tubes you during surgery the sleep study isn't needed cause they control your breathing for you. Its if they don't tube they need to test you. I may be wrong on this but its what I have been told. If I hadn't been tested and the sleep apnea found when it was the Dr told me I would not have survived another three months. So if your overweighht and Dr wants you to have the study do it folks. It dosn't hurt amd it may save your life from a problem you may not know you have.

Deleting of a post or thread without the authors permission is not something I am comfortable doing.(and I never got any type of gradification in writing someone a traffic ticket. But as a moderator of sorts it was my job) I would hope that just locking that thread would be acceptible enough and give the author the chance to remove the thread on their own. We cannot force someone to do the right thing.(true but as a moderator if they won't do it you have to, comfortable about it or not) We can only strongly suggest it with guidelines we will put into place. By locking the thread we can discourage them from continuing to do the "wrong thing" and to prevent it from getting out of control even further. I truely hope the new guidelines are followed by all then this whole issue would be mute. I just believe that you have to do what you have to do when in certain positions. And a moderator - moderates as tuff as it may be at times. Your a good person Penni and we have never had a problem with each other and I don't anticipate one in the future. Its just we have to agree to disagree on a moderator's function. And before this turn into one of those dreeded Threads where no one wants to come see lets just end it as we have both spoken our thoughts. Others can decide for themselves their feelings on the matter.

The moderators need to be active in watching what is going on here. And they need to have the power to control out of control people. A frendily warning to someone who is crossing the guidelines would be in order for the first few minor offenses. But they need to remove post that are well outside of the guidelines without the authors permission. This would not be censorship but sound administration of the board. Penni I miss spoke in my post and the above is what I intended to say. I didn't mean to change the words. What I am saying is as a moderator if you see someone is not within the guidlines se by this board I do not find it offensive to have you meet with other moderators and have an intelligent discussion, which is what I know it will be, and come to a decission as to if this person needs to be sent a warning about his/her violation of the rules or not. If he/she does then send it. If they keep it up then they should be bared from here... They have no complaint if they are warned. What good will the guidlines be if there can't be some reasonable enforcement of them... I sure am not promoting a dictatorship here but some reasonable enfocement. God only knows had we had that before, this thread won't be necessary. I know its hard for the moderators but you are our jury of peers here to make decisions. And all jurys are asked before they sit in judgement if they can make an informed finding. If you are so far on the right or left of the censorship issue, and this is not to be taken that I am accussing you of this but only food for thought, then moderators need to be honest and not accept the position. As stated before I do not like censorship but control is needed in some situations that may call for action with the deleteing or removal of postings and or member if it becomes necessary. And I mean after all other attempts to stop it fail. I do Love ya all but I also know you have a tough job and if its done right you have my respect and support no matter what you have to do.

I know that I stated, on a Thread that is now closed, that I would not partake in the drama and would go back into my little world after the posting there. But here I am again. This time I feel this is a productive thread. And for the most part I agree with what everyone says. I'd like to use a cops point of view.(as retired and not retarded as I am) I used to do a Safety Town formate for preschoolers in my community and I would come in on the day and time frame called "Officer Friendly" there I'd explain all the equipment on my uniform to them in terms they understood. When I'd get out my pen I'd ask them what is this and what do Police Officers use it for. Hard to believe even at their young ages most would say to "Write Tickets". We would then discuss tickets and Thank God the parents weren't there to hear the kids tell me about when mom/dad got stopped...lol Anyway I would tell them that giving mom/dad a ticket was like mom/dad putting them in "Time Out"... Its a chance for them to reflect on what they had done and to think about not doing it again. Well what my feelings here are is this: This Site is a highway of information for us and we need to respect the rules of the road here. Just like on a real highway there are rules and you do not have the freedom to violate them as you see, at least not without penalties if your caught. We must all becareful on this highway so as not to get hurt or to hurt anyone else. I am very happy to see that a set of guidlines will be forth coming and they are long over due. But I do not agree that the moderators should have a hands off policy on what is happening on here. I like most here do not agree with censorship but also I firmly do not believe the 1st amendment gives anyone the right to be vicious or hurtfull on purpose under the beleif they have the RIGHT to do so. Walk into building and yell fire and see what will happen to you if your just trying to be funny. Using the racially Hated name agains our fellow brothers and sister of a different skin color and see the hurt that it causes. The moderators need to be active in watching what is going on here. And they need to have the power to control out of control people. A frendily warning to someone who is crossing the guidelines would be in order for the first few minor offenses. But they need to remove words and post that are well outside of the guidelines without the authors permission. This wold not be censorship but sound administration of the board. I also have one more suggestion for the moderators to consider and then I will get off here before I use up all the megabites the board has left We are all adults here and some of the issues that have come up have been of a sexual senitive nature and some of them have value and there should be a way for those who really need to ask to be able to do so. I say add a rating such as a x behinf d the title so that those who have no interest in partaking in that conversation can self monitor what Threads they go into. Go into one with a x behind the thread title don't come out swinging about what been said in there and how it offended you. I will not leave this board no matter what goes on because I have formed some good friendship here and some of them do not agree with me on all my views and I like that but we can discuss our differences in a friendly person chat or PM. So far I've had no problem holding onto the friends and keeping my view points. And I hope to continue to build on that. Best wishes to all and I'm praying that we gell again as a fun place to be. Forgive any misspelling...but I fear touching that edit button right now...lol

    Weightloss Change To Clothing Size

Carmel, I know I'm a male..but I also know that women are better at converting mens size to comparable womens sizes. I have lost 78 punds in just over 6 months. Went from a 54 waist to a 44..Can get into some of my old 40's. I noticed a size change very soon but I refused to buy new clothes till I lost enough to warrant it. I wear a uniform at work and they pay for it. They made me go get new pants... I told them I'm only allowed two new pair a year and I wanted to wait... They asked the union if they could wave the two pair a year rule without having to go and buy everyone a more pants. The union got them to add that if the pants are needed due to "WEIGHT LOSS" then it can be waived. SO not all employers are bad lol Anyway you will also find others will see your changes before you do. WWe're to cridical of ourselves...but keep a close eye out your going to be surprised. Good luck

I thought before my surgery that the liquid part would be my downfall but turns out I actually enjoyed it but then I lost 20 pounds while on it the two weeks before the surgery so that helped. But you'll be able to get back to normal soon and see the loss as you go. Its really great.

    For those who have religion

I just read Corgi's posting on her cancer and now her lapbanding and I sat back after posting to her and I realized that we all have our own troubles from the past. Some worse then others but still to each individual the problems were not small. Cancer has effected each and every one of us at some time, depression has plagued almost all of us at one time or another. We see what Whippledaddy and his wife Patty are going thru. Others here too have major medical troubles. The loss of close family members, sons, daughters, moms and dads and siblings amoung others. Financial problems have fallen upon many people here some have worked thru them others are still struggling. Recently we even saw how we were all saddened by the lost of one of our friends pets. We are emotional people and we have dealt with our emotions our whole lives. But for ever piece of sad news we see here we read elsewhere someone has won thier personal battles and we show tremendous support to both the saddened and the happy. I don't know about you but many times I read posts here and choke up and shed tears for my new friends. Not just at the sad news but at the good news too. I don't find this at any other site. Oh lots of them are good but I find myself hurring to read so I can get back here to my "Family" at this site. I work 26 yrs as a police Officer and have handled all types of death, sickness, car accidents, suicides, murders and even a plane crash in Detroit in 1988. Also so many good moments I couldn't keep track of them either. I worked a second job in the Funeral business so I have been touched by saddness even when it wasn't personal. So what has gotten me thru all I'm seen and done? GOD has and he will continue to be my guide thru the rest of my journey. God gives each one of us only so much time here and as we know some get more then others but regardless its all we're given. Some will say His/her live was cut short. Well I don't personally believe that statement I believe that that person as lived a full live. Its just the one God gave to them. So all this to make this one simple offer to my Family here. Please if you want to read something very comforting click on this site I have posted here and let the music guide you thru the words and I think you may be as satisfied by it as I was. I ran across this sometime ago and had forgotten about it until Corgi's posting. http://www.llerrah.com/dreams.htm God Bless you all<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></WMFILTERED>

You could get hurt lol...Or if your beating them they just might trump up a charge or two to get the handcuffs on you and slow you down.

    Restaraunt Cards???

Was given one of the cards when I first was banded and I found its more of a hazzle presenting it and being told no then its worth. But I did ask at one of the casino's in Vegas at the buffet if I could get a childs price and they asked the manager and he asked me if I had proof. I showed im my card and he gave me the reduced price. Then I sat there when I felt I could eat more but was afraid to go up for more...had it in my mind every camera in the casino was watching me to make sure I didn't take more food. lol Alexandra is correct about the kids menu...If you look real close as to what they have its not healthy for them let alone what it does to our daily fat/calorie intake. I find getting a nice dinner salad or a regular order of food and taking out what I don't finish for another meal later works much better and its a cost saver in the long run.

Eating and Drinking at the same time?

The drinking situation was explained to me by my Dr Office as the following No drinking one hour before during or one hour after eating. I know for you newbies its hard and was for me too but I follow this rule and I have gotten used to it.(somewhat) The reason is if you have good restriction the Water before eating may not have passed thru totally giving you less space to put food you need in there. Drinking during combines with the food and can do several different things. One it can wash it thru faster or it the food bloats up when water is added you fill up fast on less food then you should. And the one hour after is so the food stays in the upper part longer and not washed thru to quickly.. If you think about it it makes sense...BUT There are 24 hours in a day. I sleep at least 6 So now I have 18 hours to drink the min of 64 oz water. No drinking one hour before and one after that with three meals brings me down to 12 hours. No drinking during the meal and since I take a min of 20 mins to eat at each meal(sometimes longer) thats another hour. now its 11 hours. I try not to drink for 4 hours before bed so I get the six hours uninterrupted (know what I mean) so now I'm down to 7 hours. I work near computers and there is a no drink policy by these sensitive computers. So I get one 30 lunch and two 15 minute breaks in my 8 hour shift so thats actaully only one hour out of the reamining 7 I had left to get my water in. And sometimes I can dump water down with no trouble other times I fill up half way thru a glass and have to stop. Bottom line is that its hard for me to get my water in.( I do cheat and sneek my water bottle under the desk) but still its hard. many days I don't get it all in unless I break the before bed time frame and then I'm up once or twice. I have no trouble falling back to sleep just a pain in the butt cause I have sleep apnea and I have to disconnect and re connect to the breathing machine. And most of the time I don't wake up till its do or die for the bathroom and then murphy's law kicks in. Someone will be in the bathroom near the bedroom and its run thru house down stairs and then back up(which counts as exercise...lol). Since I work midnites when i get up during sleep its normal time for normal people to be up so good chance the bathroom is occupied.(three women in the home) But i will survive. Good luck to you all with your water consumption.

    For those who have religion

Kathy, I just got in from the church services and the luncheon. Cousin Dick would have loved the services. Held at a very old Catholic Church and no mater what religion you are this Church is gorgious. Services were very touching and right on the mark. This life is only a journey to the beginning aof a greater existance. I'm glad your nana's services were good ofr you too. Thats what funerals are about. For the living. Chance to reflect on ones own life. A thought for you Kathy, When your Nana was born she came into this world crying as her family around her was smiling. When she left this world the family was crying but Nana was smiling as she returned the the care of the Lord. God bless
