Leatha Never thought about it but this missing the balloon thing Dorothy did probaly tramatized me. It may be the reason everytime I miss the bus I sit at the curb and ball my eyes out for 15 mins till the next bus comes by. Damn wish they never made that movie LOL

Ok, Just got off the phone with Don. Great guy. #1 remember that neither Don nor I are Dr.'s and this should not be taken as medical advise. The hymlick is designed to force air from the LUNGS not the stomach so there should not be much of an effect on the band. Although to preform the hymlick they grab you around the abdomon and force up hard to push the air out of the lungs. This may possibly cause injry to the band but Don believes and I agree that if this causes band damage it probably has caused ,by force, other damage and you'd be looking at seeing medical personal for treatment. CPR is fine as the compression are over the heart and the air blown in goes to the lungs. Just remember that when we get something stuck in our stomas it will not effect our breahting and trying to cough the product out of the stoma is better idea then trying to have someone force air up the stamoch by squeezing. hope this helps.

I am THANKFUL that so far for 54 + yrs God has allowed me to walk above the grass. I am THANKFUL for the knowledge that on the Day God choses I shall repose under the same grass I walk, I will be reunited with all my family and friends that I have missed over the years. I am THANKFUL for my family and friends that I still see walking this great creation. I am THANKFUL for the chance to live is such a gorgious and beautiful country that allows us to have the choises we do have. I am THANKFUL for the men and women who have in the past, present and future times have and will go off and fight the battles that become necessary for us to remain the free people we are. I am eternally THANKFUL for those, both personal friends and strangers, who have sacrificed their lives for us both in the military and in law enforcement and firefighting careers. I am THANKFUL for a 26 year career that allowed me to see more good then I saw evil. And to do good for others I am THANKFUL God waited till I was 53 before I ever had to face the surgeons knife and that the two carpol tunnel and this current lapband surgeries were hugh successes for me. And that the two knee surgiers that I was faing no longer are necessary. I am THANKFUL that God has anwsered my pray that I be allowed to live long enough to see my children grown and being able to make it on thier own. Now that they are I am also THANKFUL God allows us to modify our prayers and I hope he answers my new one that I live long enough to see all my grandchildren on their own and doing well. (At that time I move on to greatgrandkids) I am THANKFUL for the ability to show my emotions and not have to put on a false face all the time. But I am also THANKFUL they stopped showing the Wizzad of Oz as often as they used to) I am THANKFUL for all of you here and that I was able to find you and be able to call you friends. And last I am THANKFUL for Viagra and the fact that I never had that "4 hour problem" they say requires medical treatment. Cause I am of a firm (no pun intended) belief I would not have seeked that medical help.

Have You Experiance A Really Down Couple Of Days?
lapbander081004 replied to adoorme9's topic in The Lounge
Margie Yes I have experienced a couple of really bad days just like you have. Know what brought me to grips with it? "Its just a couple of days". Before it was almost everyday. I no longer make apologies for it either. Hey people my body is changing (for the better) and so are my feelings and emotions (also for the better) Deal with it or you get the "OLD ME".. My family rather not have the "OLD ME". I have always worn my heart on my sleeve. I spent 26 yrs as a police officer and 11 years in the funeral business...You'd think I could be pretty cold and emotionless. Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Just put the Wizard of Oz on TV and when Dorothy clicks them damn heels and tells Toto their going back to Kansas the flood gates open. I read newpapers and see stories about kids and I can end up crying at Breakfast. In church we sing songs that bring out emotions and the tears will flow. (and I'm front and center in the choir lol). Never was and never will be afraid to show my emotions. Holding them in is what causes the problems where the medications they want to give you become necessary. But I am fortunate.... I can talk to my wife about it and she understands and is very comforting. But if I couldn't I'd find someone who will share it. Even here I find comfort in things I read and many times I laugh and say "Well everyone has a twin somewhere and here he/she is" I get lots of comfort reading the responses from people here also and that goes a long way from me continually dumping on my family. Alex has a very good suggestion to and I find it has worked more for me now then before and that is exercise. Thow on the old tennies and out the door I go. Before my journey I'd get the same comfort from jumping in the car and driving. But then I wasn't reaping the bennies from the walk. After a short time walking, the emotions settle down and by the time I get home I'm fine. Jack is right too ( of cousre you knew that he is a man and we are always right...just ask us we'll tell you)... We have to thank God for our lives and that fact that we are still here and able to do something to help us stay longer. The small boats that we are in that large sea do become visible when we gather together as a fleet of ships. All to help each other. I too am 54 years old and as Teresa has so kindly pointed out its time for us to consider menopause. HEY WAIT... I think I'm exempt from that.. Oh heres another "Thank God" Teresa you don't need to think your husband is driving you crazy... lol thats what we are supposed to do. Sounds like he's doing ok there and if you ever find out how to really keep him from bothering you your going to be rich LOL. Just publish your findings LOL Becky, my dear Becky how can anyone who rides a Harley have depression lol You have ATTITUDE... I also find that the emotions get easier to control now that I have a little more time in bandworld. margie you read about the meidacations I'm going to research this break you ladies take from men called men-o-pause. Lucky for me my wife is much younger. I'll probablty be too old to care by the time she gets there. LOL God bless you all and hang in there Margie. Your just fine -

lapbander081004 replied to leatha_g's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Leatha, Your our poster child. What a great job you have done... That beauty you have alway had on the inside has snuck out and is covering your whole being now. Keep up the good work -
Got a phone call from one of the tellers at my Credit Uion. She said she mentioned to my son when he was in that his dad sure looks like he lost a lot of weight. She told me my son just beamed and said "Yes he is trying very hard and his whole family is very proud of him" She said she knew I had surgery because I'm vocal about it. She asked him if she could call me and he told her yes. Well we talked to day and she has jjst about all the same medical problems most of us have here and she wants to look seriously into this surgery. So i invited her to our Support Group meeting this week at Dr Office and she is coming. Nov 22 our Dr is having a pre surgery conferance and she will be coming to that. So looks like I have a new recruit LOL. I hope she follows thru as life sure in better on the LAP BAND EXPRESS

lapbander081004 replied to lapbanfran's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Fran, I know its easy for us to say were done facing the prospects of the surgery but mine was a cake walk. You'll find being out under is very simple and before you know it your awake and your journey is started. Good luck and keep us posted. Fill in your Signature on your profile so we can tell more about you. -
Phew, It has taken me some time to be able to post to this thread. I'm telling you my incisions hurt like hell from laughing. Now since your all being honset here I'm not going to muck up the Water with falsehoods. I fart/burp on command. Alway have and always will. But this surgery has actually made it easier(if that was possible) but the down side is it is unpredictable. I am an instructor at one of the local colleges part time and one of the classes I teach is with the Police Academy. There I was three weeks after surgery standing in front of 53 students when I dropped the earser I was holding. Since bending over and picking things up has gotten to be a much easier task I had no fear of bending and struggling to reach the floor. So smiled to myself and said "watch this" as I bent to pick up the eraser. Just as I reached the maximun point of bend I realized that I was in serious trouble as I knew what was comming. Oh boy was that embarrassing. Took the class at least 15 minutes to settle back down. Will take me the rest of my life LOL Butt if having more gas and louder rectal amplification is the worst side effect of this surgery then I'll just life with it. Of course I understand the married ladies her farting but how is it the single ladies due. I heard it said until you ladies marry you don't have an ---hole.
