Well I made it thru that Holiday. Fortunately for me it is my favorite one. Have only lost what two pounds over the last month and then I drop two for this week. Hmmm Think going to have another Thanksgiving this Thursday too.

Tips for Beating the Flu <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> With the shortage of flu shots this season, here's an alternative. <o:p></o:p> Think about it, when you go for a shot, what do they do first? Because alcohol kills germs. <o:p></o:p> So...... <o:p></o:p> <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo6">Walk to the liquor store (exercise) <o:p></o:p><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo6">Put lime in your <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Corona</st1:City></st1:place> (fruit) <o:p></o:p><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo6">Celery in your Bloody Mary (veggies) <o:p></o:p><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo6">Drink on the bar patio (fresh air) <o:p></o:p><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo6">Get drunk, tell jokes, and laugh (eliminate stress) <o:p></o:p> Then pass out (rest). <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The way I see it, if you keep your alcohol levels up, flu germs can't get you!!!!

I have just completed sending out a current particpants list to all who have indicated they wanted in on this challenge. Also I send everyone a form for you to keep track and to use to send info back to me. If you lose the chart or need me to resend anything let me know. The form was done on excel. Zoe and PamRN I do not have an e-mail to send you the above information. I aslo PMed you both about it. Delarla and La_madam...I had trouble with your e-mails. I alos PMed you two about it. As soon as I get enough info to make the charts I'll do so. Good luck again everyone. I had a good start with a 2 pound loss -
Keep up the good work Ryan. It is a wonderful world out here and I'm glad I'll be around to enjoy it longer then I was going to be. Have first grandchild on the way and will be here in July. Looking forward to sitting that baby in a lap that didn't exist several months ago.

Bright, Don't know if you have had you date set yet or if you have had the talk with your kids but I agree with those who say to be honest with them. fortunately for me my kids area all grown 28/23/21/19 but I still had them asking questions like Why such drastic measures. After a nice family dinner and conversation they understood. My two sons took up all the work of seeing I was able to get around after surgery and handled anyting I needed done. My two daughters actually went out and got ME the Teddy Bear for the hospital. I still love it too LOL. My wife was 100% behind me on having it done and it really helped when the kids saw it was a joint effort and we included them. Since mine were older I explained the proceedure to them and my oldest son went to Dr with me for first visit and saw the video. The younger kids, in my humble opinion don't need all the details. just need to be talked to so they feel part of the family. I'd tell the kids the reason I have to stay is for rest. LOL( Is that really possible in a hospital.) Good luck... Take my word for it your biggest worry will actually be what to do with all the clothes that don't fit anymore.

Blue Cross HMO anyone hear of this?
lapbander081004 replied to Iluvmyboys's topic in Insurance & Financing
When I retired from the police department I was given the reitrees insurance which is traditional Blue Cross and Blue Shield. When I was working I had Blue Cross PPO. When I called about the surgery they told me it was covered as long as I meet the requirements which in my case was no problem. Once I got all the paperwork it was approved very quickly. B/C & B/S have paid everything except a few minor costs covering the excersice program and follow up with a nutritionalist. But so far my out of pocket hasn't been over $200.00. And I'd pay lot more then this if I had to. The cost of our surgery is set up that all visits no matter how many are covered for one year from date of surgery. After that my insuracne will cover visits and fills. Also they have already told me that after one year of being banded they will cover the plastic surgery for removal of an apron if one exsist. All they need is a letter from my dr stating that this surgery is necessary for health reasons. Sionce I picked up on my exercising my weight loss has slowed almost to a stand still but my body is making adjustments that I like, (lossing inches and flab areas are firming uo). Even my apron isn't falling like I expected it too and it appears if I stay on track I may be able to forgo that surgery. I'd love to have it now as it would probably be an instant 25-30 pond loss. But I'll be happy to try the hard way first. My problem is that the Police Department where I used to work is being offered a very good contract. One of the conditions is they have to except a change in retirees insurance to Comm Blue I from B/C & B/S. Unfortunatley I don't have a say in this. I understand that the officers are against the city touching anything the retirees have and have opposed this so far. I fear the city will offer them more salary now as the change in the insuracne will save them lots of money down the road. If they chage to the new plan for me I'm not sure what will be covered. Except I do know they have to honor what they have covered up to now. The city that I work for now gives me $2,000.00+ cash every Dec NOT to take the insurance they offer other ful time employees. Cost them about $7,000.00 a year to have me on the insurance so I understand giving paying me not to take it is sound business. The insurance in this country is in serious need of overhauling. -

I go to the sleep center On Halloween night to be re-tested. They think I have dropped enough weight to either have my C-PAP pressure reduced from 15 pounds to 8 pounds or come off the C-Pap altogether. I am worried about coming off altogether due to when I was found to have the disorder the nuerologist who did my study showed me that I stopped breathing 477 times in the 8 hour sleep. He told me I vertually was not sleeping and just a few months away from death at this rate. Thank God my wife ratted to the Dr about my restlessness at nite. I had no idea I was doing it. Just knew I was tired all the time. The C-PAP was the best thing that happended to me until the Lapband. Now I may be able to sleep nites normally on my own. We will see. Wish me luck (and a good sleep)
-
LOL I always sleep right. lol Please don't go without being rechecked.. This sleep apnea is dangerous. And you really don't know if your sleeping well. I thought I was sleeping fine before I got the c-pap. Little did I know I wa a short trip from eternity had I not been tested.
-
Well I forgot to come back and post my results whjen I go them from the Dr. LOL They reduced my c-pap from 15 to 6. Dr was shocked it went down that far in a single jump. Says another 20-30 pounds and I will probably be off it altogether. Delarla. You never wash you c-pap. I sure hope your kidding. If mold or bacteria gets in there your then breathing that right into your lungs. Should always wash the hoses and face mask at least once every other day. I have a humidifier on mine that I have to put Water in. I wash that every other day. If I take the rubber seal off the top part I can place it in the diswasher and that helps. Hase sections in it and its hard to clean by hand. Lauri If the pressure leaks out its too high. My c-pap when it was set at 15 was set up so I could tap a button and it reduced it to 8 and over 20 minutes it built back up to 15. This was one of the resaons I knew the weight lose caused a reduction in my need for the c-pap. Before I never woke up..slept like a baby with it on. But after I lost weight it would wake me up every two hours or so blowing all over my face. I'd taop the button drop it back to 8 and go back to sleep. Two hours later same thing. But I was still sleeping better then before I had it. Now since it has been reduceed I have no problems and I am looking forward to next test to see if I get off it all together

Well I think we were all a little bad yesterday. I went to confession and Said "Bless me father for I have sinned. I ate too much at Thanksgiving Dinner" He gave me three rosary's and an extra Our Father. Hell I dind't get that much when I confessed to an affair. ( just kidding) (about confessing that is LOL LOL) Oh well seem to be back on track. This year the leftovers don't look as appealing as years past. And we all know they are better the second day. Hope everyone else get back on track if not today tomorow. Don't need my very first chart haveing the lines go below the chart. LOL

One-on-one holiday exercise challenge, anyone?

Boy what a battle. Started out with the turkey being stuffed in the morning and me being stuffed at nite. BUT I won...I'm still here...poor turkey. I refuse to peek at the scale. Afriad it may put me in a tailspin. Plus it takes a few days for food to sometime register on that darn scale anyway. SO its intense time on treadmill for the weekend. If I can come out of this with no weight gain on Monday it will a miracle. (Becky is snickering lol) -
Betty, My suggestion for what you should take on a trip is ME and lots of MONEY lol I'm going to Vegas in a week and I'll speak to Delarla and see if I can get her to straigten out LOL (better change on being on next shuttle). Nancy, those of us who personally know you have already made up our minds on that crazy issue. I have no trouble so far with any foods. My trouble is forgetting to chew well and then having that intense pain in chest for a period of time. But on a whole I must be doing ok since I have yet to have a single PB experience. All of the foods that I have been told to avoid were basically foods that aren't good for you in first place. Aslo was told that I can try them and if I tolerate them it was ok bu then I have to look at thier value as far as protien, carbs, etc... And when I eat them I have to cut out other things and I find I don't get as much to eat and I feel like I'm lacking for the day. I do like the dry cerals for Snacks. I take cheerios in a baggy all measured out to work with me and munch on them. Because they are dry and go down a little thick I feel like I've eaten more then I have and seem to be satisfied longer. Also fruits hold me over between meals and are good for you.
