    weekly scale challenge

Zoe. I took a PM Pole and everyone decided this time the 1/2 pound will count ...lol Of course it counts....Even zero weight change counts as a weight loss. Remember the old days when it was always going up...Not anymore(with the exception of a few weeks a year...we're entitled). Congraulations Zoe, Sammy, Betty and Becky... Great job. If anyone is interested in an Easter challenge We can run a thread on that. I'll try to do beter job with stats this time unless someone else wants to volunteer??? Since its really not a big eating holiday with the exceptioon of Easter Sunday maybe we can run it as a support to stay away from candy??? Any Ideas?? fine print:malted milk eggs that turn your mouth blue and pink don't count as forbidden food

    2005 Vegas Bash

Darcy... Want something safe for the flight to take the edge off try a few doses of Benadryl...It was what the Dr recommended to us when my daughter decided a few days before we flew to Flordia that she wasn't flying. And it worked wonders. Now we can't keep her off planes...Maybe she is hooked on Benadryl...lol

    Newly banded and can't burp??

Pati, Being able to give a good burp was a pre-exsisting condition I had and keep after surgery. But like you and many others right after surgery it was hard to get it to roll even thought you felt you'd blow up if you didn't. If I got up and walked around It would work lose and I could expell the gas without trouble. I'm just over 5 months out and I have no trouble with gas. Actually If I don't burp it find the path of least resistance and generaly comes out the other end. So I try not to hold it in. I think you will find with time your system will settle down and this won't be a pain any more. but the gas isn't going away. lol

    Compulsive Eating

Jonathan, I don't have time right now to read your story. I have A large bowl of Chicken soup calling me back into the kitchen....BOY OH BOY can I relate to this. The Demons went easy at first when I got banded. Then I got way to comfortable and they came in the back door and tried to overtake me again and the battle has been on since. I know for a fact I am winning but its not easy and I will never again become comfortable. I know its a life long battle to eat right and I am determined to fight it till the day I die. ( after that I think they only serve salad in heaven...never seen a fat angle) Thanks for sharing jonathan...Between you and whippledaddy I don't know who is more elegant of a writer.

Help me make up my mind. I'm torn.

Nancy...I understand and your doing a great job..Keep it up. And I totally agree with you the band is the best option for me too.
  17. lapbander081004

Help me make up my mind. I'm torn.

Nancy, I felt like this at first too until I realized that before banding when I limited my food intake I called it dieting. Now I realize that the limited amount of food is actually the proper amount so I can't say I'm dieting anymore but that I am eating proper. So My feelings are that when people are eating proper it should not be called dieting. But when people eat like we used to it should be called "STUFFING" The word Diet should be one of those words that every year get dropped from our language.

Help me make up my mind. I'm torn.

Leigh, Can't add much more to what has already been. My decision was made on the risk factors and the idea that my body uses my systems to process the foods I eat and the lack of dependancy on drugs and suppliments for the rest of my life. Ryan....When "She Who Must Be Obeyed" speaks, I listen! I see your a member of that club too eh... My membership# is 348829478<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

    Tomorrow!!!!

Good Luck Trish... Your already beautiful. Don't worry about the Dr's lack of surgeries. He has the training and knows what he is doing. I'd rather have a Dr with only 25 lapbands under his belt then 1,000 bypasses. Risk still much better with lapband.
  20. lapbander081004

    I should have asked sooner...

I'll get to hug her for more years! I say AMEN to that Ryan. Hope you have many many years together.

ALRIGHTY I MADE MY CHRISTMAS GOAL. OPPS. Its past Christmas...(Naturally after the challenge is over I lose)Oh well I am as happy as I could have been had I hit it right on the day. Lost all the damage I did last week and Like Darcy I threw in a few extra just for the Hell of it. What great news on the 5 month anniversay of my Banding. And I owe it mostly to you out here that have helped me stay focused. TY TY TY In case you haven't figured it out yet I am very excited LOL I'd like to thank the academy and all who voted for me...My parents who gave me life and my family who have stood behind me(at least until I got banded...Ref to Burping and farting Thread for details) this whole time. Wait this is the speech I prepared when I was thinking about an acting career. Oh Well. Hope everyone else did well and remember I Love ya
  23. Ok after numerous attempts to fix the chart for the challenge I gave up. evertime I fixed it and then posted oit came back up like this. So when you look at it the red numbers reflect the total loss for the time period after that is the starting and ending BMI. I think most can figure this out but it was frustrating trying to get it right and it won't let me lol.
  24. Ok, Finally here are the results of the Challenge: First a quick thanks for all who took part. If your not listed on the chart below its because for some reason(and its probably my fault) I don't have beginning and ending results. I may have miss filed them on my computer or accidently deleted them. I apoligize for my errors of any were made Second(which really should be #1) everyone here is a winner. Check it out....not one person over the lenght of the challenge gained weight. Sure had some up and downs during but not at the end. Nancy has the most weight loss at - 10. Congradulations Nancy ( I HATE YOU LOL LOL) on the exercise portion it was to close to call between Betty and Zoe so I declare a tie here. They consitantly did a better job at this then the rest of us, from what I saw. Anyone want to dispute my ruling here you can call 1-800-giv-damn. confused, and need advice

Brighteyes... Was banded on Aug 10 2004 (5 months tomorrow).. Banded on Tuesday Home on Wednesday and back to work on Friday. Piece of cake. No post surgery trouble and I don't look back. I would also do this once a year if it was needed. I was at a retirement party for afew hours last nite and there was a lady there who had Gastric Bypass in APril. She was just over 600 pounds and could not walk (5'0 tall). She has lost 170 pounds so far and is now mobile and was getting around real well at party. BUT she had to keep watching everything she eat. I didn't I could have anything I wanted but in moderation and made sure it fit in the meal plan. I even had a very slim piece of cake. She did too and ended up in a corner feeling sick from dumping effect. At her starting weight I guess lapbanding wasn't an option but I'm glad I was able to have it instead of any of the other type surguries. Good luck on your banding
