    Two Weeks Post Op

Although the surgery is done laparoscopically (thank God!) it still is major surgery and your body is trying its best to heal. Couple that with the reduced amount of nutrients you're able to consume and well, no wonder you're tired ! Be kind to your body, pamper it and console it and make sure you give it lots of fluids and lots of protein. Your energy will return in a couple of weeks.

    Omg

I want to be able to be on the praise team at church again (my husband made me quit after I fell down twice getting off the stage - my legs go completely numb if I stand too long) and help people worship God. I also want to be able to get on my knees (and get back up :-) .
  7. *BIG HUG* you poor thing. You're just not getting the support and encouragement that you need right now, even from yourself ! Well sweety, buck up and kick those blues to the curb ! Repeat after me " I am a beautiful woman ! I am an exceptional woman ! God loves me and so do I !" and that will chase that ol' devil you have whispering in your ear runnin' for the hills. Do something special for yourself - purchase a good book or some beautiful stationery, or buy yourself some flowers or a gorgeous plant. And every time you see these little beautiful gifts you gave yourself you'll be reminded that you did it because you love you right now and you love who you're becoming and you are MORE than worthy.

    Help!

Change: I needed to get a letter of recommendation from my primary care physician but I had already researched the bariatric center I was going to use. There is quite a wide range of experiences with different programs & insurance companies so all I can offer is that it WILL be a process. I would suggest that you find a "bariatric center of excellance" - it is a rating that the industry awards itself - where there is psychological & nutrition & surgical support all under one roof. Good luck on your journey !

Surgery Was 5/21/12. Now 8 Days Post Op

*hug* I hope you feel better soon. It really will get better pretty quickly. Make sure you are sipping water or warm tea constantly. I'm sorry you had a crabby nurse - of ALL people, nurses should be kind and compassionate :-(
  10. NoTime: you must be a supervisor I am way too open with everything that is going on in my life and everyone I know knows that I have been struggling and suffering for many years with being morbidly obese. So when I decided to get the VSG I shared that info with everyone and most have been very supportive and understanding and excited for me. Some, like I was, are against WLS altogether and they have pretty much kept their thoughts to themselves. I have been picked on a little because I eat like a bird now but I expected that (I dish it out too :-) .

    Anyone From Ky Louisville Area

I'm in Frankfort, KY , about an hour east of Louisville.
  12. isntsheclever: you're not alone on this. My NUT also told me that to keep my body burning calories I should be getting around 1200 for someone with my BMR and that she didn't care how many calories I added as long as it was protein. Once I upped my protein (and the calories went from 850 to 1200) my month long stall broke and I started losing again. Go figure :-)

The Start Of A New Life.

What Are You Looking Forward To?

I want to be able to keep a clean house. I would love to be able to keep a pretty flower garden and maybe even some vegetables. I've been so disabled for so long I am having a hard time coming up with a "I wanna do" list. pitiful.
  16. I was post-menopausal but had been spotting off and on for a few months prior to the VSG. After the surgery my period came back.... and it has been going now for 3 months. I took my sainted mother's advice and told my PCP who was concerned enough to order a sonogram which showed an enlarged uterus which had him send me to a gynecologist who did a biopsy and found that I have endometrial uterine cancer. I go Tuesday to the gynecological oncologist to see what is to be done. Go figure.

    Still Taking Meds....?

I am. My PCP changed them from Bisoprolol/HCG to just the Bisoprolol (the HCG is a diuretic and when I told him about the horrible leg cramps I was getting every night, he suggested that it may be the diuretic that was causing it... he was right) . I took myself off the biso last for a few days and my BP was 135/87 but I woke up one night and my heart was beating fast and it kind of scared me so I started taking it again. But... just a couple of days ago my BP was 102/67 and I have been feeling really lethargic & fatigued. I dunno... I suppose I should talk to my doctor again :-)

Are We All Doing This Too Soon?

CowgirlJane: wow. What a great response! I don't think anyone could make the case for the decision to get the VSG better than that. Thanks !

    Melting Down

Eggs did that to me until 2 months post op. They're real easy to eat, just hard to digest. I can eat them just fine any way I prepare them now, but if I try to eat two, nope, I get that "urrghhh" feeling.

    So Tired Of Hearing...

This week I found out exactly how all my coworkers REALLY feel about my WLS - they are having the annual Wellness weightloss challenge and they won't let me participate because "it would be cheating" . Well well... I guess it just proves again that I made the right decision because I WILL be the biggest loser
  24. Thanks guys :-) I was upset & scared at first, then I was angry, and now realize it's yet another incident in my life where I can clearly see the hand of God on me. I am truly blessed :-)
  25. That is wonderful Lissa ! So, are you still taking the coumadin ?
