What Are Some Things You Can't Wait For Once You Loose Weight?
Spatters3 replied to labubakari's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait: to be off the blood pressure medicine to be able to take my developmentally delayed & autistic grandson out to play (I don't now because I can't catch him when he bolts) to be able to sing on the praise team again at church (after I fell down the 3rd time, my husband forbade me.... my legs go numb) to be able to keep my house the way it should be kept - clean & orderly to be able to garden with my granddaughter be active ! -

u r out of ur mind! too clever ! :-) -
Much to my NUT's surprise, I have been able to get all of my Protein needs from real food. I was sleeved 2/13/12 and at the end of the 2nd week I could no longer tolerate ANY of the sickeningly sweet protein supplements. I tried the chicken Soup one too but that was just disgusting. So I started eating mushy foods a couple of weeks early - refried Beans, cheese, liverwurst, tuna salad, etc. The NUT and PA kept telling me that I was becoming "protein intolerant" and that if I didn't drink the nasty protein drinks I would develop an aversion to all protein. Well, no, I don't have an aversion to all protein, just to nasty protein supplements! Give soft meats a try, go slow, chew well, enjoy !

Restriction Questionn
Spatters3 replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just did this to myself this morning - ate a small carbmaster yogurt, drinking my coffee, popped the last bite of a banana in, and took a good big swig of coffee (mind you, I was NOT paying attention to my eating) and then "uh oh!" got that too full feeling and had to get to the restroom where, thankfully, all I had to do to find relief was burp a lot. Have to remember to pay attention to what the heck I am putting into my mouth!! -
3 Months Today And I Could Just Scream!
Spatters3 replied to Pammie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
yep, experiencing that right now. But guess what? We WILL lose weight because we really don't have any other choice. I remember when I was dieting that I would reach this point, I would stop losing, and I would say "to heck with this!" and just give up - and gain back everything I had worked so hard to lose and then some. But... this time, I CAN'T give up because it is physically impossible for me to eat too many calories (yeah, ok, if I sat in my recliner and fed myself ice cream all day long, I could). So... are we going to give up ? NO ! Are we going to be patient with ourselves and continue making good healthy food choices ? YES ! We shall persevere ! We too shall be "forced" to buy new wardrobes (hehehehe I can't wait !) ! We WILL succeed ! -
The Scale Is Broken! A Story About Stalls...
Spatters3 replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you ! What a timely post. I thought my scale was somehow not working correctly too. You can see by my signature that I have actually gained 2 lbs in the past 10 days (could be water). So... deep breath.... this will work, this HAS to work, it is physically impossible to NOT work ! It is kind of interesting though because when I have dieted in the past and come to a stall like this I would just give up. This time I CAN'T give up. Thank you Mr. Sleeve ! -

So Frustrated With Eating Out!
Spatters3 replied to Ms skinniness's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am now eating less than my will-o-the-wisp 7 yr old granddaughter! Amazing. Although I have not gone out to eat since The Sleeve, every night at my house is a lesson in not overeating. I used to "clean up" the kid's leftovers (i.e. eat them rather than throw food out) but now I can't and yes, it bothers me! Because it's "wasteful" but that's silly and illogical. If I was that concerned about wasting food, I wouldn't put so much on their plates that they couldn't finish it. And the amount of food my husband eats is disgusting! And yes, I still want to be able to eat that much too but I can't (thank God!). Heck, no wonder I was never able to lose weight! As for going out to eat, I think my buffet days are done and I will be ordering appetizers :-) -

Sleeved 3/8 Please Help
Spatters3 replied to MSMONIK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How do warm or room temperature liquids feel ? At first cold water would make my stomach roll & lurch (no real pain though). -
of course TOM is a factor. I have been "stalled" for the past 2 weeks and I am only 4 weeks out. Things that make you go humm. It is EXTREMELY frustrating, to say the least, BUT I have read others posts and it is not an uncommon thing. When I talked to my mother this morning and told her that I haven't lost any weight in the past 2 weeks she voiced my own fear "wouldn't that be horrible to have gone through all this and not lose weight." Yeah, Mom, that would be horrible. BUT..... that AIN'T gonna happen to me and it AIN'T gonna happen to you !!! We will lose weight and that's not just wishful thinking. There are THOUSANDS of people on this site that are losing tons of weight and we're going to lose it too ! So there. I know I feel better. How about you ?

New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
Spatters3 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sabrina: lunch on Wednesday was 2 oz cottage cheese (7gm protein), 2 oz tuna (14gm), 1 oz cheddar (7gm), 5 nabisco crackers (1gm) = 318 calories, 29gm protein . Now, it took me a full hour to eat all that. I aim for atleast 20gm of protein per meal and I can't wait until I can eat eggs again (I have no idea why my stomach doesn't like them, but I'll keep on trying!) so that I can add that to my arsenal. And steak.... I'm still on soft foods so haven't dared yet, but soon! Also, if you're not already, you should use an online nutrition tracker (I use sparkpeople.com) to really be sure of what you're nutrients are rather than guessing. -

I have started taking a 50mg Tramadol pain pill before I leave work for home so that I'm not a raving lunatic b***h when I get there and find the house in an uproar (i.e. normal). My husband calls them my "happy pills". -
New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
Spatters3 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Susan: congratulations on kicking the smokes! I quit 7 years ago and I still want one, but it's tolerable :-) I am almost a month out, am eating (and enjoying!) soft foods (bananas, peanut butter, cottage cheese, ground meats, refried beans, etc.) and getting between 50 & 70gms of protein a day without protein supplements. woo hoo ! The worst for me has been the protein shakes - despise them all. You would think someone could come up with a tasteless protein supplement. The best for me is that I can only eat a very small amount of food at a time and I am still not hungry. Oh, and yeah, I'm losing weight ! I know I'm only a month past surgery but I don't think I am going to experience any of the horrible complications that I have read on this site. Thank You God! -

Feb Sleevers-What Are You Eating?
Spatters3 replied to Ms. Scarlett's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved 2/13 and I am eating soft foods: chicken/tuna/salmon mixed with mayo, cottage/cheddar/sandwich cheese, refried Beans. I even ate a little spaghetti with meat sauce on Sunday and dang, it was good! I am eating 800 to 900 calories a day, and getting 50 to 70 grams of Protein with no protein supplements. Eating slowly is important so that "uh oh" feeling doesn't surprise me. I still can't tolerate eggs and I love them :-( I go to my 2nd post-op visit next Tuesday and they're going to draw blood to make sure I am doing well. So, we'll see. I feel fine physically, just a bit tired. I haven't lost more than a pound this past week but I figure my body is just taking a breather :-) -
You've lost 85 lbs ? WOW!!! That is super! Be kind to your body, it has been through a lot over the past 10 months and is taking a break. Do you have any appointments left with your nutritionist ? You may want to take a couple of weeks of your meal journal and ask if their opinion. In any case, you have done wonderful

Lets Be An Encouragement To Newcomers
Spatters3 replied to yecats's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
thanks all. You really are all an encouragement to me. I am just 3 weeks post-op and I can't even imagine what it will be like a year from now. I still don't dare to hope. I have always been fat. Always. It's going to be like an alternate universe experience..... -
New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
Spatters3 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG! Be careful with yourself! Do not eat gassy veggies (i.e. cauliflower, broccoli) until months from now. I couldn't even keep water down in the hospital (had to stay an extra night) but since then I have been fine. I did almost lose it though when I ate a poached egg for breakfast. I had no idea eggs were so hard to digest. -
New Feb Sleevers Any Regrets? Best And Worst Thing So Far
Spatters3 replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am starting to think that I really AM going to be the one person who the VSG doesn't work for. I lost just a pound or so this past week. Then I slap myself and shout at me "You fool! Of COURSE you are going to lose weight!" And then I think my yelling self is right, but then a half hour later I don't believe me again. I think I am losing my mind. Also, my fuse is waaaay short. -
Flame Free Friday Confessions!
Spatters3 replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
kiss the day goodbye and do better tomorrow ! I don't drink with my "meals" (it's hard to call it that yet) but I don't wait an entire 30 minutes before I do drink. I started eating mushies a week before I was supposed to. I'm going to start eating chewables probably 2 weeks before I'm supposed to. I despise all Protein supplements and so I am trying real hard to get my protein from food. I am getting about 60 grams a day. Maybe I should start drinking milk instead of Water. I ate too much cheese and managed to bind myself up. I too think I am the only one in the world that the sleeve won't work on. There. I feel better. Oh, and I eat a couple of ritz crackers a day too !
