that's kind of scary bout_it. You're over 4 weeks post-op and you have to eat and drink or you will not only lose weight, you'll lose your health and possibly your life. Have you told your doctor ?

Wish I Would Have Never Done This!
Spatters3 replied to tyvette04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
*hug* sorry you're feeling bad. It will get better. Right now you have to work at getting fluid in. You have to. Suck on popsicles or just sip on plain water, but do it. Being hydrated will make you feel a lot better. If you can't, because of pain or nausea, don't let yourself go too long in that state - call the doctor. -
It does get better. Really. Trust me! *sigh* ok, I too have food issues. Three months post-op and I am still missing being able to comfort myself with food. But, being that I'm sleeved, I CAN'T ! And guess what ? That's a good thing. So a toast to the sleeve ! Long may it reign ! heh

A Before & After
Spatters3 replied to BetterthanIwasb4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really cool how you're wearing the same top because it shows beautifully exactly what has changed/shrunk on your body. I'm afraid that won't work with the next 60 lbs because the top will fall off you -
Atkins induction diet - fat & protein, zero carbs. Drink lots of water.

It Doesnt Help When....
Spatters3 replied to beautifulnewme2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
... when people at work (well, one individual in particular) keeps offering me food and then says "oh, right, you can't eat that can you" . One of these days I'm going to eat everything he offers me - atleast one bite of it -
Backup Plan: Gastric Bypass
Spatters3 replied to disneyteach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe your surgeon was just trying to tell you that things can go wrong but even if it does, you'll be ok ? Yeah, it would have me freaked out too, but you're probably going to be just fine. -
Ugh! I Hate My Drain, Part 2!
Spatters3 replied to kellythestarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You poor thing! I was in the hospital 2 nights and they removed my drain before I went home on the 3rd day. It felt weird when they removed it but not very painful. I don't know why you would have to wait for a doctor to remove it .... the nurse yanked mine out. Anyhow, hope you get it taken care of tomorrow (do NOT let them delay you again!). -
Week 6 Postop - Weigh In

cute picture :-) -
stop yer whinin'... "only lost 2 lbs last week" sheesh

how is your energy? General malaise? Weakness? A few years ago my husband experienced this kind of shoulder blade and back pain and generally feeling lousy - turned out a major artery was 98% blocked and he had to have a stent installed.
-
Sorry you had so much pain and awfulness :-( I too threw up the 1st 2 days, couldn't even keep water down, but I didn't tear anything. I was very fortunate. I'm glad you were smart enough to go back to the hospital too. Sometimes us strong & self reliant women know too much for our own good

I'm almost 3 months post-op and I ate a small yummy tossed salad yesterday. I REALLY enjoyed it and didn't have any discomfort. All I can suggest is that you try it, just do it slowly and wait a long time between bites just in case you have problems.

Sharp Stabbing Pains In Left Upper Stomach! !
Spatters3 replied to chasitybeatty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
all I can think is thank God for this forum. CrazyCatLady because of your horrible experience (that, bless your heart, you're still going through) you may actually have given her information that may save her life. I pray you both heal completely and quickly. -
see ? This is all working out just like it's supposed to. woo hoo !

Am I Going Crazy? My Personality Changed.
Spatters3 replied to jme53071's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep - I was a horrible witch and all I could do was rage at everyone and everything ! And 2.5 months post-op I still have my moments, but I'm controlling it much better (or so I think). I think it must be hormones plus this is a major change on many different planes: can't handle stress with food anymore, our bodies hurt and thinks we're starving it. -
Where I Am Six Months Later
Spatters3 replied to whataloser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok..... where are you ? :-) -
same thing happened to me, and continues to happen every few weeks :-( It HAS to be hormone related. If I have to metabolize all the hormones that my fat has been storing for the past 40 years.... oh my. It's going to be a rough couple of years, let me tell you !
-
yep. I wasn't able to eat any kind of egg until about 40 days post-op. I guess they are harder to digest than we think.

Psych Evaluation - What To Expect?
Spatters3 replied to dreamnslim2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
count down from 100 by 7's ? Good gravy, I wouldn't be able to do that ! 100, 93, ummm..... but I guess I wouldn't get angry about it, I'd just feel stupid. -
I also could not stomach (haha) the protein shakes because they are cloyingly sweet :-( I satisfied my need for crisp & light by sipping ice water (although it made my sleeve dance around for the 1st couple of weeks - weird sensation). I ended up starting mushy proteins 2 weeks post-op because I just couldn't choke down another shake. Congrats on finding something you can tolerate!
-
I pray you have an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery!
-
I'm the same way. I think it's a combination of not wanting to be "beholding" to someone, pride, and fear that they'll say no. In fact, in my experience, the few times that I have asked others for help 90% of the time the answer was no (oh, a very polite and with-oh-so-many excuses but still no). I don't think I'm going to change my modus operandi and so I can't advise you too either :-) Spring for a cab.
-
Hey ! Glad to see you're up and about and doing well. It does take a week or so to get used to the new stomach and then every new stage of food progression brings its own set of revelations. I'm 2.5 months post-op and I'm enjoying any and all foods, just in small amounts (which is exactly what I hoped the sleeve would do for me).

The Super-Breakdown At The Superstore

all I can offer is "this too shall pass". Hang in there sister, it does get better!
