Uniqueone- It depends on what I am doing, but I am not to the point of having any extra energy yet. I think I personally just like to take naps! It is a habit of mine!!! Did anyone watch big medicine tonight on TLC? They showed a lap band patient. I am one week out on my second fill and I ate A LOT at lunch today. I called and I can't get in until Saturday for the next one. Why does fattening food taste so good???? I keep seeing the lap band commericals and I want to scream. When will my hunger be tamed like the commercials? I've obsessed myself with getting a summer tan. That is the best way to keep me out of the fridge. I got an above ground pool and no one can see me in my backyard, LOL! My son and I will head out there again tomorrow!! You are all doing awesome!!!!
-
UUGGHH! I guess I am just too impatient. I have had my second fill and I am still eating what feels like a horse. I am getting my third fill next Saturday, so I am not going to call before then. I thought the "head hunger" would go away, but it has not. My dr tells me to only have 3 meals a day. That is hard when your kids are snacking all the time! I know you all think I am just super negative all the time. That really is not my personality. I just want this band to help me not overeat. What are you doing to keep yourself from eating and wanting food??? HELLLLLPPPPPPP!
-
I got my second fill today too. I am down 22lbs total. It will be two months tomorrow. My first fill didn't last a week. I am worried about being too tight this time. I think all the "talk" (from the nurse & doctor, not you all!) about being too tight may just have me worried. I don't do very well during a fill. I hate drinking the water and then being asked all those questions. I am not a good decision maker and I am afraid of making the wrong one! Maybe this fill will last longer. So far, the past two months I have been going on willpower A LOT! I am ready for a little help from the band!!! We'll see how I feel in the morning!

I want to hear what you think about hip hop abs. They make it look like fun! Someone explain to me what it means for your pouch to be dilated?

No motivation...all hopes on lapband

I appreciate your honesty. I too have felt the same way. I will tell you that when you start feeling better, it will be hard until your first fill. Even from there, it is still hard. I am 6 weeks out and have lost 20 lbs. I had good restriction the first 3 weeks, this last 3 weeks, it has been hard. I got my first fill on Monday. I told my doctor that just using willpower is not my strong point! He told me to hang in there and it will work out! Just be prepared for the hard times. I hate to sound negative, but it seems like other diets at times, HARD! My doctor assures me that it will get easier, and I trust him. I also know that no matter how hard it is, I could not have lost 20lbs in 6 weeks by myself! Stay strong mentally, and YOU can do this! Do you have a date set? -
Congrats to you! You are on your way know! Just keep telling yourself, all these things are just 'bumps in the road" to your new life!!! Banded 5/4/07

ShayDee, my doctor told me that the first fill would not last very long. I have no idea why, but that is what he said. He scheduled me for my second fill two weeks after my first one. He said at that time they hope to get better restriction. From there, I am not sure when I will get my third fill. My doctor told me as soon as you quit feeling "morning band" then you need a fill? I am just watching what I eat again, waiting on my 2nd fill. I am still losing (a little, not a lot, LOL!) so I am trying not to be down about it.

I think my band will hold 11cc, sounds like an odd amount, but I think that is what he said. I have an appointment for July 3rd, which will be two weeks. He said that was as close as he would do a second fill! I am doing better today. I want to hear about everyone's fills! It was hard for me to answer all the questions! He kept having me drink water and see what would go down. He also said something to me about spacing out your bites, but I can't remember what, does anyone know anything about that? Thanks for all the support!

Helllo to all, I have been lurking and reading, but haven't posted much lately. I got my first fill yesterday. I talked to my dr and found out I have a small ap band. He said I also had a micro port. I guess that would explain how he missed it! I got 5ccs in my band. I was supposed to be on liquids for 2 days, then softs, then wait about a week to try food again. Well I blew that tonight with a piece of pizza. So much for restriction, I ate the whole thing. I am really having a bad case of buyers remorse. I felt really restricted when he was doing the fill, but now I feel no different. I am just having to use tons of will power to diet. I have not lost any weight in two weeks. Sorry to be such a downer, I just know some of you may be feeling this way too, or have suggestions!! Thanks!

Try getting on all 4's with a pillow and stick your behind up in the air. Not a pretty picture, but it will provide relief! I also used heating pad and thermacare heat strips. The best thing for me was a long walk. 5 days post op, I went to the park and walked (SLOWLY) a mile. It was not for exercise, it was just to get things moving around. When I was in your position, I thought it would never end! BUT IT DID! Smiles!

It is just awesome how well everyone is doing! I feel like samiam- I could eat a horse! Any suggestions on dealing with the "head hunger"

I am just curious, when are you all getting your first fills? I can't get mine until June 18th, which will be 6 weeks from my surgery. I need one now!!! Let me know what your doctor is saying!
-
Kacee- mine stayed on for quite a while. After two weeks I finally pulled the last one off!

For those of you that can have more foods, I am finding that the 100 calorie packs are saving me! They even have cupcakes if you need one! I can eat way tooo much. I wish I had more restriction. I can eat a whole sandwich and a 100 calorie bag of chips at one sitting. I am disappointed that I can stille eat so much. I don't get my first fill until June 18th. I have hit a plateau for 10 days!!! Some of you were asking about carbonated drinks. I love caffiene free diet cola. I pour it in a cup and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour and let the bubbles die. Then I can drink it. I would think you could do that with beer if you wanted to. I never really consumed a lot of caffiene so that has not been an issue. I am so proud of our group! Everyone is on the mend and getting stronger daily!!! We'll be ready to show the June folks how it is done!!

WOW we are almost to the end of the month! I am so excited for you all who have waited patiently for this week!! For those of you thinking of cheating, DON'T!!! It is not worth it, I was in pain all night last night!!! NOTHING can taste as good as THIN will feel!!! I am ready for a fill, but I have to wait until June 18th. I can eat WAY TOO Much!!! Again, good luck to all this week's banders!!

Thanks for the "hunger" support! I emailed my nurse and told her that I was not going to make it on 650 calories. I went back and read all of my post-op stuff and they told me to eat between 600-800. I just don't think my body can function on that. Where are you all buying the protein stuff you are eating/drinking? I did lose 1 lb this week, so I wil accept that! Thanks again! Happy Friday!

I am so glad to hear I am not the only one who is hungry. My husband is really upset. He swears the dr said at the seminar that hunger would go away. I have blown it today. I have been so depressed. My body just does not work. You either don't eat and lose a little, or eat one single thing and the weight loss stops. I have not lost anything this week since I have added foods. I am counting calories and until today I was averaging 650 a day. I am hopeful that once I get a fill this will get better. However, that is still over 3 weeks away!!! HEEELLLLLPPPPP!!!
-
Watch out! I am able to add more food this week and it is hard to watch the calories. Since I have not had a fill yet, I can hold more. I am supposed to keep it down to 800 calories a day. When you can eat anything, that is hard. Just like being on another stinkin diet!!! I am finding that once I am full, I stay full a long time. However, my head is not over being hungry! Will that ever go away? Hiccups- that scares me to death!! but I have gotten them several times! I am getting used to not drinking with my food. I just don't get anything out to drink when I eat. I am so glad everyone is doing so well!!
-
Good Luck to everyone going in tomorrow! You will do great! For those of you that are hungry, I found a soup at Chili's that helped me! It is Chicken Enchilada soup. Order a bowl of it, and then strain the meat out! After I was 10 days post-op I blended the meat up in it and that has helped me. You can go to Chilis.com and get the calorie info! Happy Monday!

Congrats to all who are doing so well. I am so happy for you! I am two weeks post-op and down 14lbs. I know it will start slowing down from here. I went out to eat with my husband tonight, and had another "fat" experience! You know when you have to ask for a table becase you cannot fit in the booth!!! I was embarrassed at first, but then two other people had to ask to be moved from the same booth, so I felt better! I really have not had to be at work full time the past two weeks and I have really enjoyed it. I have been taking naps! I will be tired next week when it is back to full time!! To those of you who have cheated, YOU are HUMAN! I tried ground beef tonight and didn't have any problems. I have been chewing and chewing and chewing some more with everything I try. Have a great weekend!
-
WHEW, I can't catch up tonight. It is great to hear everyone doing so well! I am officially on mushies! When you get there, you will LOVE IT! I will weigh tomorrow for my 2 week post-op, I hope it is good! It is amazing how doctors are all different. My doctor had me bring in all my meds and he looked at them pre-op and ok'd them all. So I don't have to do just liquids. I am not doing so well on the Protein thing. Where do you find it at the grocery store? I need tutor, LOL! Happy Banding to all those going tomorrow!

I missed you all my May cyber friends while I worked today, LOL! I went back and I wanted to comment on several posts from today. If it is bothering someone that I did this in one LONG post, let me know. I am learning “forum etiquette” <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Nimblebean- I just saw that you have already lost over 50lbs! Way to go! Is that just from pre-op or are your watching what you eat?<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> NurseLaureli- How are you today? I didn’t feel funny when I swallowed, but I have tried hard not to gulp. I can’t give up the straw! <o:p> </o:p> PhgMomof3- What is Italian Wedding soup? Just curious, I have never had that! I went and got Potato soup at hand tonight. However, tonight I don’t feel hungry (for a change) so I am not going to eat it yet, LOL! I walked a mile 6 days post-op. I complained about it, but I really feel like it helped me get going. Give me details on how you knew the cheese was stuck. I need someone to be specific so I will know! <o:p> </o:p> Hiccups- Those and coughing are the worst post-op! It almost makes me laugh it is such a funny feeling!!! <o:p> </o:p> Mannamay- I am glad to hear you are doing good!! Get a heating pad and get some rest! <o:p> </o:p> SillyWillyMommy- Love your creativity for your Mother’s Day meal! I put meatloaf in the blender, LOL! It wasn’t terrible, but I am not going to rush to do it again. Tomorrow is the first day of your SMALLER life!! I had a hard time getting on here tonight! <o:p> </o:p> Monica- I just strain my liquids, but you may want to call your doc for clarification! <o:p> </o:p> Wenjea- I am fighting what you are, we need to stay off the scales, but it is hard! I am only recording my weight on Fridays. That way it will look better to me! You may have a hard time cleaning out before surgery. My doc recommended a laxative for 3 days after surgery and that helped ( I think, LOL!) They say you can carry 10 lbs in your colon!! <o:p> </o:p> Healthny- What is Barley water? <o:p> </o:p> Melissa O- glad to hear you are home and doing well. I too, was relieved when I knew they did not open me up! <o:p> </o:p> Rebecca- YEA for you! I completely understand the sneezing, that is not fun! <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Keiko- You can do this! You will be fine and so glad you made this choice for you!!! <o:p> </o:p> Widabbut- glad to hear you are doing good. I have not had solids yet, so I really have not experienced the “full” feeling! Glad to hear it will be coming! <o:p> </o:p> Welcome Short01- good luck tomorrow! <o:p> </o:p> Mommalee- Baggy clothes- How EXCITING!!! <o:p> </o:p> Welcome Oilburner! Soulful Grandma- Stay off of those scales for another week! It will take you that long to get rid of the stuff they pump you full of! <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> NVGirl- congrats on the weight loss!! <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Cypressmom2007- Glad to hear you are doing well! I have not worn shorts in a couple of years, so maybe this summer will be ours! <o:p> </o:p> Welcome Karamyl!! <o:p> </o:p> Twinmommy- You said exactly what I have been feeling at times too! I keep thinking that someday we will be able to eat certain things again, we will just have to modify. The main thing that keeps me going is knowing that this is just a phase in making the rest of my life better, a phase that will end and we can move on to the next phase!! <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Good luck to all that are joining the BANDWAGON tomorrow!! <o:p> </o:p>

mcgreen- I felt the same way. It will all be worth it in a few months. I think having my gall bladder out first did make it easier for me. It won't be bad at all!

I went to a ballgame, and I missed you all! I look forward to coming back to see what everyone is up to. I am addicted to this thread! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> Shell850- I was self-pay and my fills are included in that for 18 months. <o:p> </o:p> Welcome Smileygirl! <o:p> </o:p> Kacee- glad to hear you got things worked out! <o:p> </o:p> JennyC and losinit- good luck tomorrow! From here on out, you will be leaving pounds BEHIND!! <o:p> </o:p> Vscherer- Thanks for the reminder. I still have some pains on my left side too. It is weird, but it hurts to drive! My side just aches when I am in the car. I am still using the heating pad on my shoulder and back. <o:p> </o:p> Legster- WOW, sounds like you did great. I am glad you are home and feeling good. <o:p> </o:p> Welcome LilMonkey! <o:p> </o:p>

I am eating more mushies than I am supposed to. I just hate to drink all those liquids and not feel full. I have been chewing so much that the food is liquid before it goes down. What do you all think about yogurt? Does it add to the gas problems? That is what my nurse said, but I had not heard that. I am headed to fitday.com to see how much I have had today, LOL!
