  1. Wow finally I see someone post amazing numbers similar to myself. Honestly I was getting nervous that I was losing too quickly. I am 3 weeks 5 days out and have lost 40 pounds but that includes 17 from preop liquid diet. I am trying my best to get in all my protein but it's difficult. Haven't started solid foods yet. Is your 80 pounds from after the surgery?
  2. I am almost 4 weeks out and yes it is normal to have just water for stools as you put it. I didn't have a solid until I started on soft foods. So don't worry it will come soon enough. Lol
  3. I have been on here for a few months now and I haven't seen that many people saying they gained a lot of weight. In fact there was a thread few weeks ago where someone from Louisiana had the sleeve 5 years ago and has gained only 15 pounds until today. That's pretty amazing considering I know a lot of banded people who gained a lot more weight then that in a shorter period of time. To answer your question on how it's possible to gain weight yes if you are going to eat a lot of slider foods that has lots of calories you will gain weight and at the same time you will be stretching your stomach making it easier to eat more then you would have originally.
  4. Like Jane my wife had the Lapland in 2001. She initially lost 90 lbs but at a price. She hardly ate anything as many foods could not go down. Until today she throws up quite often. Because of many foods not being able to get through many people end up eating the "foods" that slide right through. Cake, candy, chips and ice cream. And many people I know end up gaining either all or a lot of weight back. The constant throwing up caused her band to slip and she had a second surgery to fix it. She wishes today she could join me in getting the sleeve. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and I've lost 32 pounds and feel great. I have not thrown up once and everyone I speak to who is researching what to di I recommend the sleeve. But for the younger kids under 30 my opinion is to get the band as the sleeve is very evasive and non reversible. For many people that can be mentally very tough. My 22 yr old son is over 300 lbs And he is getting the band.

    Sleeved On 3/1

I was sleeved also on 3/1 and the first week I also was tired and weak. My doctor said it was because lack of sugar and carbs for the last few weeks. The second week I felt much better and you have to take all your necessary vitamins every day. That will help with gaining your strength.
  6. I am 2 weeks 2 days out and have lost 31 pounds total. I lost 17 from 2 wk liquid diet and 14 since surgery.
  7. Surprised no one said this. I can't wait to get off all my Meds for high blood pressure and cholesterol and having my sleep apnea cured

    New York City Sleevers

Just walking mostly. My first week back to work I was swamped so I didnt have much time but starting next week I will start the treadmill. When do you think you will be getting the sleeve or is it still in the air?

    New York City Sleevers

I think we have spoken before. I had my surgery on March 1 at NYU. Was in hospital 2 days. I am already down 31 pounds since I have started. I am lucky as I have had no side effects such as lots of gas, nausea, throwing up. The first week I was pretty weak and my doctor explained its because of the lack of sugar and carbs in my body. This week I went back to work and I feel great. So it gets better and easier as the days go by. Good luck on your surgery!!

    7 Years Post Op Vsg

Where are you from? From all the research I've looked into I thought the sleeve was only being done in the past 3-4 years. I am thrilled to hear that after all these years you only gained 15 lbs. I have been nervous what will be years from now. I know lots of banded friends who gained almost all or all their weight back.
  12. I went with the NYU program. Dr. Ren and her husband Dr. Fielding are two of the top doctors in the country. They have been doing surgeries for over 10 years.
  13. Oops I was saying get prilosec from your doctor. It might even be over the counter

    3Rd Day After Syrgery

My doctor would not discharge me until I drank 36oz of water and it was only 2 days after surgery but I did it and went home. I am now on day 6 and each day I can handle more and more.

    March 2Nd Sleevers?

Wow good for you nomad. how are you doing with protein intake? I cant seem to drink enough!
  16. I was also sleeved March 1 in NYC. Went home 2 days later. I won't lie but those 2 days were hard but I feel better every day. They told me to take bandages off tomm. Have had no nausea at all and no vomiting. Hard to get all my protein down and am very cold a lot.
  17. I am 4 days post op and also have swelling. Dosent your doctor require you to have a follow up like a week after surgery? You should def get surgeon to look at it

    March 2Nd Sleevers?

3 days post op and came home yesterday. Had no nausea. Worst thing for me was the dry mouth. It was horrible. Down 23 lbs already since start of liquid diet.
  19. Very simple if you continue eating like that you have a good chance of dying! My doctor told me that the few patients she has had that died was because they were eating foods right away and ignoring their instructions to only have liquid!!! You have a greater chance of getting a leak and if it gets into your blood stream it will be life threatning. That s as tough love as you can get!!

    Almost Died Fm Vsg Surgery.

Kim I read the whole thread and I don't see why you would make it all up so good for you in defending yourself and not giving in. I am having surgery this afternoon!!! I pray that I have no complications and my new life begins.
  21. I have been on the site for awhile now and I hardly see any men on here. I am 45 and having my sleeve March 1. Have been overweight only 15 years and weighed 290 when I had my initial appt. I am on the liquid diet and have lost 10 lbs already. I have high blood pressure, cholesterol and just found out I am now diabetic. I also have very bad sleep apnea. All in the past 15 years!! So all you men out there please share your story. Women, of course, are welcome too.

Thanks. You make a lot of sense.

Where Are All The Guys At?!?!?!?!?

Thanks but what I'm constantly thinking about is that for the rest of my life I am will not be able to eat that much. Food is such a big part of a persons life and it seems that after the sleeve it will no longer be like that. I know we can eat almost everything but the amounts are minuscule.

Where Are All The Guys At?!?!?!?!?

Hi all I'm getting last minute second thoughts. My Surgery is Thursday and getting nervous. I know I am making the right decision but I guess I'm just nervous. Never had surgery before. My wife was banded 10 years ago and still at times throws up her food. So the sleeve is what I'm choosing.
