This Surgery Is All I Think About

I hope everything goes well for your approval. I still have a ways to go to my goal, but I already have so much more confident and feel much better about myself. Use this time to research this and other sleeve resources so you can know everything going into it. It will help the time go by and get you as prepared as possible.
  3. I am a snacker too, but I am more careful of my Snacks now. I pretty much have to have a good Protein snack in the day to get my protein goal. Deli meat and cheese is my go to when home. I am a huge Jerky fan and it is a great protein snack. Also love to have a few nuts to get that crunch satisfaction! It is pretty hard to stretch your sleeve you should be fine.

    Is V8 Ok

Started drinking V8 3 days post op. I felt better after getting some veggies plus it is a liquid. I was taking a PPI so no heartburn with it. I had 8 oz daily for the first 2 weeks.
  5. Bought size 16 pants today! Down from size 22, surgery date 2/7/12. Scale has stalled but clothes sizes still going down. I need to get better with my exercise so I can get those 26 lbs gone and reach onderland. I can't wait to fly next week to see what a difference it makes in the airplane seat!

    San Diego People

SDCC? I will be there this summer too! I loved Tin Fish right across from the convention center. We split a meal there and that was pre-sleeve. Maryjane's connected to hard rock had good food late. (they rename it Cafe Diem durning SDCC).

    I Hate Water!

I got an infusion pitcher that I love. You put fresh fruit in a basket in the middle of the pitcher and it flavors the water.
  8. Post the hernia pic! I would like to see. I got a whole series of pics with my gallbladder removal, but didn't even think to ask for with my VSG.

    100 Lb Reward?

Congrats on you huge loss! How about a play, concert or sporting event? Fitting into the seats more comfortable will help you see how big your loss is.
  10. I would say leave the steristrips on but take off the bandaids. Those bandaids will just get nasty and keep too much moisture on the incisions. I had just the steristrips which eventually come off on their own.

    The Dreaded Stall

My first stall started at 2 weeks and lasted about a month. Then I stalled again at about 8 weeks for another 2 weeks. I have really decided to not let it bother me too much and focus on my overall loss and NSV. I just about only have 1 chin now and can feel my cheek bones again! I can make it up 2 flights of stairs without being out of breath. I started looking more closely at my fat intake and that seemed to break my last stall. I am eating more cream of wheat for breakfast and doing small lean cuisines at lunch. It is so hard to not get frustrated, but maybe you can find something else to measure by also to get excited. I had a pair of pants that I would make sure to put on and I could feel the changes more with that than what the scale said. Those pants don't even stay up now!
  12. I have a desk job also. Sitting in one place was uncomfortable but I would try to get up and walk around every hour or two. I also went for a walk on my lunch break. I have seen people on this board that have gone back to work after just 3 or 4 days. Every person is different. I had scheduled off 2 weeks but came back early because I was feeling good. The most important thing will be getting in your fluids and Protein. Just always have something to sip on your desk!
  13. I have a desk job so no heavy lifting. The hardest part was sitting in one position for so long, I would get uncomfortable. I was restricted to lifting only 15lbs in the first 2 weeks after surgery so you may not be able to lift and turn patients that quickly after. Talk to you surgeon about it. I think the 12 hours shifts will be ok as long as you always have something to sip with you and take some breaks. Just make sure you get all your Protein or you will be exhausted. Bending over was the only thing that was still uncomfortable until about 6 weeks out but it was tolerable.
  14. First congrats on the job offer. I applied for a job right before surgery. I figured it would take awhile for them to set up interviews but they called me for an interview a couple days after. I interviewed the week after my surgery and got it! I was still in a lot of pain. So I had to start my new job less than a month out and navigate goodbye happy hours and meet and greet lunches in my mushie food phase. I Would talk to them about the time off they may be very understanding. I only took off 6 days total. I don't know if the other job is stressful but if it is your dream job you will probably be happier which will make surgery and recovery easier and less stressful I think.

    Urine Color

Vitamins can change the color too. The time I go after taking my b12 is always darker.

Back In The Hospital Again : (

I hope they can get the swelling down for you soon. Sending happy thoughts your way for a speedy recovery.
  17. I am not to goal yet, but I have been overweight most of my life since about age 9. My surgeon says losing 3/4 of your excess weight is the goal. I think the chart said my ideal weight was 135 at 5'5''. So with a starting weight of 284 that puts me 149 lb overweight. 149 times .75 is 112 lb to lose. I rounded down a couple pounds to an even 170 goal. I think your goal is very realistic and doable. Getting your body healthier is the true goal, so don't get hung up too much on the what the scale says. You are going to feel much better at 190 even though the chart says overweight still. I would love to pass my goal some day, but I will be happy if I make it to 170 and maintain!
  18. Today I am 14 weeks out from surgery and officially halfway to my goal weight. I am amazed everyday by the changes I see. Just today I was washing my face and couldn't believe how much more I could feel my cheek bones. I still have a ways to go but I am so glad I made the decision to get this surgery.
  19. That is great news. Congrats!

    Pain Beneath My Chest

Agree with Lissa. Full will feel different than before surgery. When I started purée it didn't take much food for me to get that feeling.
  21. I like old navy's new jeans. I wear the "flirt" as i am more straight in the waist and hips but you sound like a "sweetheart".
  22. Shrimp, which I am really bummed about. It just doesn't taste right now. I have tried it many different ways and none tasted good to me.

    Protin Bars

I waited until I was on solid food. I think I had the first one 6 weeks out. They really fill me up. I like the Cliff builder bars since they are small and 20 grams of protein.
