Glad you asked this. I have been wondering the same thing!

My doctor said 6 weeks, but I waited 8. I still to this day have trouble with iceberg lettuce for some reason. I do great with greens and always make sure there is plenty of protein in my salad. I would suggest a small amount first to see how your sleeve tolerates it.

I had high levels prior to surgery but now test normal. I hope it isn't anything serious and will just get better once your body adjusts to the weight loss. How much B12 do you take?

I reported the posts I saw as spam. There is a report button at the bottom of each post/reply. I am curious if there is another way to alert though.

Hey Ladies... A Few Personal Questions
traceyc replied to myownjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Loose skin and droopy boobs can be fixed. I think it is better to risk those then to risk all the complications from being obese, just my opinion. Everyone is different once they lose the weight and you can take steps to minimize the loose skin some. I personally never gained any boob when I gained weight so now I am not losing any. I was a 44 C at surgery and now I am a 38 D. In fact multiple people who know I had surgery have said my chest looks a lot bigger now. lol I think the rest of me is just smaller. -
Need Some And Advice--A Little Gross
traceyc replied to tx_girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem. Milk of magnesia helped with it. After about 6 weeks I never had the problem again but happened a few times right after surgery. -
Caffeine seems to be one of those things that varies widely depending on the doctor. My doctor allowed caffeine the whole time. I could have gotten a cup of coffee while still in the hospital if I wanted. I didn't have coffee until about 1 1/2 weeks after just by choice, but have had it every day since. I drink it with fat free milk and no sugar so it doesn't add a lot of calories. There is some debate that it interferes with healing since it is a stimulant, but not sure how much that has been studied. It is also a diuretic so I don't include it in my liquid totals since it isn't exactly hydrating. I also drink iced tea often with no issues. Personally I don't like the taste of decaf tea. Plus it is impossible to get decaf iced tea if you are out some where.

You look awesome. love those shoes!

The centrum chewables made me sick so did the Bariatric advantage. I have been taking the Vitafusion multi gummies. No issues so far. I doubled the dosage to more closely match the bariatric advantage one.

A Stupid Little "yay Me!" Thread - I'm Wearing A Size 12 And L Or M Top!
traceyc replied to Catracks's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats! It feels awesome when you get to move to a new size. I finally bought some new shirts, they were getting way too baggy. All the shirts I bought were larges. I can't remember the last time I bought clothes without an X in them, usually multiple X's. -
I think the traveling part would be fine if your doctor is ok with it. I agree though that with the limited food choices you will have at that time a cruise may not be the best option. I am in Texas and going to San Diego next week. I cannot wait for the 70 degree temps there! If you do book a trip it might be good to get something refundable or purchase the insurance that allows you to cancel. Just in case you don't feel up to going or in the super rare case you have a complication.

Andrew Lessman - Vitamin Help!
traceyc replied to Amyl219's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to crush pills for the first 3 weeks and then nothing bigger than a pencil eraser then on to ensure nothing gets stuck. I talked to my doctor just 2 weeks ago asking if I could take Vitamins that are not chewable or gummy and she said if they were small yes, but that my small stomach will not break down the pill as much as before so you loose some of the effectiveness. For that reason they prefer you do chewable or gummy. Most pill vitamins I have seen are way too big for our new stomachs to break down. Maybe ask you surgeon next time you see him/her about it since your nutritionist is being flaky. -
Can't Stomach The Bariatric Advantage Chewable Vitamins
traceyc replied to Erin6573's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I switched to gummy vitamins because I could not stomach the chewables. I wasn't taking my vitamins because I hated them so much. Decided it was better to take something even if it isn't as good than nothing at all. My doctor agreed. I currently take Vitafusion Multi Vites Gummy Vitamins from Sam's Club, 4 daily. I love these! -
I started cream of wheat in mushies. They have one called healthy grains with extra fiber and protein. My sleeve loves it. I make it with skim milk that has 12g protein in 8oz so it is 19 grams of protein for my breakfast.

Wow, you look amazing. Thanks for the inspiration! -
You need to take care of yourself so you can care for your children. I agree with Dorrie, try a local food bank. You could also check around with churches in your area. Many are willing to help even those not in their congregation. Not sure the ages of your children but WIC will assist any child under 5 and pregnant and breastfeeding woman. http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/ Can you apply for food stamps?

Quickly approaching the 4th month mark and doing great. Down from a size 22 to a 16 so I can now buy clothes from more stores which is great. My sleeve seems to like everything which is a blessing and a curse. The only thing I regrete is not getting my sleeve earlier!

I think those are fine. You may need to dilute more than the can says to make it easier to eat. That will cut the fat even more. I used HEB mootopia milk fat free to up the protein too.

Drinks Out? What Are The Best Choices?
traceyc replied to hollygolightly's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have seen a lot of places have a skinny margaritas now and I get those often. Some are sugar free some are made with a small amount of agave nectar but they are low calorie. -
My back has been hurting me lately. I bet I have the same issue. I didn't even think about that being an issue.

Lip balm was the one thing I couldn't do without. I didn't really use anything else since I was only there one night.

How Long For Approval For Uhc? Choice Plus
traceyc replied to serenity28's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have UHC choice plus. I think it was about 2 weeks for them to get back with the approval via phone to my doctor after everything was submitted and then another week to get the written approval. I thought the whole process with them was pretty smooth and they covered everything. I had to pay my deductible and my plan has 10% co-insurance. -
Not Trying To Be Grose But...
traceyc replied to weight_no_longer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow that does not sound right. I hope she is working with a doctor on those issues. I am 4 months out and have not vomited once. Some people have more swelling or issues like scar tissue from old bands that make them more prone to vomiting in the beginning, but 14 months out I would think there was a serious issue with those symptoms. -
Austin/round Rock, Tx B12 Shot Deal $40 For 4 Shots
traceyc replied to traceyc's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I did but haven't got the first one yet. The sublingual tabs make my tongue cramp and I forget so going to try the shot. I liked the weekly nasal spray but it was expensive!
