Help - In Pain What Can I Take Pre-Surgery?
traceyc replied to kccgm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too only had the aspirin restriction. You could try a cream like icy hot or a heating pad to help with the pain. -
I saw a coupon today and don't know if it is worth it. I like the idea of them only being 2.5 oz with 28 grams of protein. http://www.proteintogo.com/index.php?route=common/home

I had a $50 copay. I did an hour session talking and then a huge question/answer that was multiple choice that took about an hour and a half. My results were sent to my surgeon's office, they were never discussed past them saying there were no issues.

Buzz Sensation In My Head
traceyc replied to Paola's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a way to check your blood pressure? Some people experience a low blood pressure after sitting for awhile and then standing. The buzzing might be your heart rate going up to compensate. It could just happen on days when you haven't yet had enough hydration or something. Wouldn't hurt to discuss with your doc. Read the "Low blood pressure on standing up (postural or orthostatic hypotension)" on this site: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/low-blood-pressure/DS00590/DSECTION=causes -
If You Are A Food Addict Please Read This Book!

Thanks! I was looking for a new book to read. I will check that one out. -
I tried them at 10 weeks. Did great with a spring mix at home with avocado and chicken. Then had a salad out with iceberg and the typical radicchio etc and it did not sit well. I am sticking with the spring mix or baby greens for awhile I think but everyone is different. My plan allowed salad 6 weeks out but I was afraid to eat for awhile.

I think they have them at target and Walmart too.

Got a fruit infusion pitcher recently and just wanted to share how great it is. I was struggling with fluid intake since artificial sweeteners upset my stomach and I want to avoid sugary drinks and water was just getting boring. This pitcher adds just enough flavor to the water. I have been so excited to try different fruit I am drinking it so fast! I have done orange and strawberry so far and can't wait to try mint and lime. I add more water each night so you can keep the same fruit in there for about a week. http://www.amazon.com/Prodyne-Infusion-93-Ounce-Natural-Pitcher/dp/B0023UL86A

How Much Time Off Work?
traceyc replied to Ssilian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I returned to work 9 days after surgery part time and full time after 14 days. I have a desk job and sitting for long periods was uncomfortable. Can you ask if they will make an exception for you to drink at your part time job? Not sure how many hours you do there but if a lot the no drinking might be an issue. -
Do You Feel Better When U Can Finally Eat?
traceyc replied to mgood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel good as long as I get in at least 50 grams of protein, but 70 grams is better. The few days I didn't plan well and had very little protein, I felt super weak and tired. When I don't get my fluids in for a couple days in a row and don't feel great either. What is your protein and fluid intake right now? -
My insurance is 90/10. My deductible is $500 with an out of pocket maximum of $3000. I paid right around $2000 out of pocket for VSG and a hernia repair to the doctors and hospital. The $3000 out of pocket max doesn't include my deductible so the most I could have paid was $3500.

When Did You Eat Salad?
traceyc replied to Stacey Nicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started eating salad at 2 months. I could have had earlier but I was scared to try. My sleeve loves the spring mix but iceberg made me gassy and uncomfortable. -
Mainly soy milk is non dairy so it is lactose free. I am not lactose intolerant really buy occasionally too much dairy can upset my stomach.

Love their caramel macchiatos! I haven't tried a skinny one yet. I have been sticking to the soy lattes post surgery, but I may give that one a try. Congrats on your size 8, that is amazing.

Panic Mode!
traceyc replied to jiggyjen1982@yahoo.com's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I stalled on the scale right after surgery for over 3 weeks. It was frustrating but also I noticed my clothes fitting loser even with scale not moving. You may want to talk to your surgeon about increasing your calories. Such a low amount may cause your body to not burn as much. I moved up to 800 to 1000 and started losing again. -
Tips And Tricks For 64 Oz Liquid Requirement?
traceyc posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 2 months out and struggle with my water. Pre surgery i would chug water and down 16 oz in no time. Now I sip sip sip but it is slow and i get bored and stop or forget. I dont like artificial sweeteners, I love iced tea but fear the dehidrating qualities. I drank a vitamin water the other day and it was so good and I finished quickly but so much sugar. Does anyone have good ideas on a varity of ways to get in liquids without artificial sweetener since these dont go down well for me. -

This doesnt seem right to me. I thought all leaks had to stopped or there is pain and infection. If your surgeon said that you may want to consult another.

Follow Up Appointments
traceyc replied to BigGirlVee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had follow up 2 weeks, 1 month after that and have one schedule for 3 months after that one. I think there will probably be more but then I can just go to my primary occasionally to keep an eye on my vitamins, etc. One thing to note, not sure if this matters as I am not an insurance expert, but my surgery was on 2/7 and my last claim for it was just processed last week by my insurance company. The follow up visits were covered as part of my surgery up to 3 months out, then I have to pay my copay again and submit the visit to insurance. -
That is great! Keep up the awesome work.

February Sleeves How Are You Doing?
traceyc replied to Jlo77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling great! Still struggling to get all my liquids in between meals, but doing great with my protein. I had a long stall, but increased my calories to about 1000 and started losing again. I am trying to do 4 to 5 meals a day to get my protein and calories in. I had trouble with getting my protein with 3 meals a day so my doctor said it was fine to do 5 small meals, so much easier! My clothes are getting so baggy, it is awesome.
