  1. I have been in your shoes. In fact a similar boat incident. We were out with all five of our kids, something broke in the shaft of the boat motor and we sat there. The wind was blowing hard and pushing across Lake Pepin. We tried to paddle against the wind but it was fruitless. My husband, I have since divorced him, so ex-husband was yelling at me and cussing me out. He was mad because I couldn't conger up super human strength to paddle a boat, with 7 people in it, against the wind. He said the most horrible things like "paddle you f******g fat b***h!" and "you're so f*****g stupid and useless". This was one of the millions of horrible things he said to me over the four years we were together. Also, I knew of his behaviors within one year of being together but I still married him. UGH! Eventually I found help through our local women's advocate program and got out. However, when I was with him I ate alot to try to drown the emotional pain with a food high. Didn't work, just got fatter and fatter. When I did finally leave him, I dropped 35lbs just from the stress. I followed that crappy relationship with more crappy relationships but I kept going to therapy. Eventually my therapist and I worked through my issues. Now I am happily married to a wonderful man. We married about a year and half ago. We met on Match.com. He has said some dumb comments without thinking but it's not out of meaness...it's just he didn't think how that comment could be taken in a negative way. He also suffers from obesity and is fighting his own demons about it. I am hear to tell you to get help. Get out of the relationship safely. Use your local women's advocate group to educate yourself. When you're ready, you will move on. I just know it. I knew it when I took that step towards leaving. It was scarey but I had support and I did it only because I had support. You deserve better, alot better! I didn't believe it before and you probably don't either....but you do deserve better. In a year from your surgery, I would love to hear you tell me that you didn't care what he thought of your weightloss and that you are just glad to be divorced from him. Best wishes.
  2. When compare to my weight loss and many others on here, you are right on target!! There is a VERY common "3rd week stall". Don't panic. It will pass. I promise. I thought the same as you. "Did I do this for16lbs?". I'm now 2 1/2 months post op and down 44 lbs. Yay! Heck, you think you're clothes are hanging off now. You just wait!! I must say I am a little concerned about you eating a half of a sandwich because I was told not to have bread until much later. Just make sure to follow your doctor/nutritionist's instructions. One thing to ask your nutritionist about is the number of calories you need since you're exercising as much as you do. I have found my body will go into a stall if I don't eat enough calories with my level of exercise. It's like my body says to me "Hey, we need calories here! If you're not gonna take in enough, I have no choice but to NOT burn calories or fat!". LOL! Well it's true for me. Anyways, you are doing great. Keep doing what you are doing and ask your nutritionist about your caloric needs. Best wishes.
  3. I agree with the trial and error method cuz everyone is different even if its in just slight ways. I'm in my 9-10 th week and I've been stalled for almost a wk. Maybe its a common place to stall, like the 3 rd wk is?? I also popped up a pound and a half over a day then dropped it off again. I'm not too concerned yet. It's very hard for me to be patient but I know our scales will drop again. I am obsessed with the scale and weigh myself everyday. It sucks but I think I traded my obssessive eating for obsessive weighing. I'm working on this with my therapist, though. I know ur scale will drop, I just know it!
  4. Maybe you have a nurse in the family or in ur circle of friends? I bet he/she would do it. I had my surgery with Dr Almanza too. I had my husband help me remove mine. I don't get dizzy, it was just a weird angle to try a see what I was doing. It didn't hurt either.....just the slightest pinch. I hope u find a friend to help u out.
  5. Sure it could be kidney stones especially if the pain is on one side but it could also be many other things. Like, if its on the right side it could be gall bladder.....or, on either side, could be a kidney infection......could just be gas or constipation. Please call ur doctor.
