When It happens to me I have to go throw up in a hurry. I know this is gross but the 1st thing out is so much mucus that encases the bite of food that put me over my limit. It's no wonder it makes me sick because there is so much of it.
-
I'm 3 months out and have thrown up quite a bit. Early on if I took one bite too much I wd throw up. I found out what sliming actually was and really listen too my body very carefully while I'm eating to try to avoid throwing up now. I discovered that I have to put my fork down between bites and just wait a few moments before taking the next bite. Doing this it slows me down and sometimes I actually get a feeling that if I take that extra bite it will put me over the edge. Unfortunately I have no signs like so many people do before l take that extra bite that takes me over my stomach limit so I typically just try to play it safe by eating about 1/2 cup of food and stopping. I have also discovered spicy foods don't agree at all, nor any type of ground beef. My stomach is very finicky. The throwing up has gotten a lot better but hasn't stopped completely.

I myself use INTEK Evolution, it's a Whey Isolate which is what the drs recommend, I scoop to about 4 ounces of Almond milk ( this is what I use) provides 34 grams of protein, contains 160 calories 2 g carbs, 1 g of sugar. 2 shakes a day will get you to your required protein each day. At right at 3 months out 1 still take at least one shake a day and sometimes a second depending on how I did with my protein for the day. It mixes extremly well and is smooth. It is available at specialty nutrition stores and online. I really appreciate the fact that it doesnt require me to drink 8-12 oz's and the taste is something I can deal with and actually tolerate. I purchased several flavors so I don't burn myself out drinking the same thing day in and day out. It says you can mix with water but I don't like the taste mixed with water.

18 lbs the first week is awesome. Don't be disappointed at all you are doing great. I'm 2 weeks shy of being 3 mths out and didn't lose a single lb until my 2nd week and only lost 2 lbs. Everybody is totally different with the weight loss and the way their body decides to change and at what pace. I had to lose 30 lbs to change clothing sizes where as some seem to fly thru sizes with 10-15 lbs loss.

60 Grams Of Protein In A Serving
innerme replied to Anthony D'Adamo's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My understanding is that your body is unable to absorb over 40 grams of protein at a time so anything over that is wasted. I might be wrong but I remember reading about it and talking to my nutritionist about it and she agreed. I was interested in doing this with my protein drink but my nutritionist sd it wd be a waste and stick with the 35 g of protein I get with 1 scoop. -
I went into surgery at 8:15 and they came out and told my husband and family at 11:45 I was in recovery. I had to have a lg hernia repaired and a second hernia that had herniated way into my chest wall repaired as well. I had a drain which was the most discomfort that I felt and felt instant relief once it was removed 3 days after surgery.

Trying To Stay Positive But It's Extremly Difficult.
innerme posted a blog entry in Innerme- my journey
So my surgery was the 18th of June, and I wd love to say I am absolutely thrilled with the changes my body has made but nope not there yet. When I started my weight loss journey in Jan I weighed 234 lbs and the week before surgery I was down to 217. On the day of surgery 211lbs. Week 1 I lost a whopping 1 lb. Week 2 - 2lbs. Week 3 a loss of 4 lbs. Week 4 a loss of 5 lbs. week 5 loss of 2 lbs. And since then nothing. And the crazy thing about the whole process I have always heard every 10 lbs is a dress size. Well that may be true from some but definantly not me. My wardrobe size was a 18 when I started this journey in Jan. and I'm still in a size 18. It seems I lose very strangely. My pants look baggy only because I have lost in my hips and behind but my waist hasn't changed so I can't go down in pants size. My ankles are bony, my wrist are bony, In fact my arms from my elbow down has always looked like it was a skinny girls arm. I'm losing my boobs but again my waist line is not changing so can't go down in blouse size yet. I know there are issues with my food intake I just don't know what I can do about it as I'm struggling severely. I drink a protein shake in the morning 34 gr of Protein, Lunch time I do something on the lines of chicken or fish ( I can only get in 7-8 very small bites and I have hit my limit on food), Dinner time again I try to have protein and a couple of bites of veg's. This last week no matter what I have eaten at dinner after the last bite I start getting sick and end up running to the bathroom throwing everything up. Since my 3rd week out from surgery I all of a sudden started having trouble getting my liquids down. I don't really know what to do. Water is absolutely the worst getting down, it literally hurts my chest even with a small sip. Yesterday it took me 6 hrs just to get 16 oz's of water down. If I drink very much I feel as if I'm gonna lose it. I hope this gets easier. I am just finding this to be all so frustrating. I am so careful about chewing very well, small bites, eating slowly, no drinking with my meals, eating my protein first etc. I know it's got to get better I just wish I cld fast forward time and get on with it. -
Lovenox Injections Post-Op

I was administered the lovenox injections only the 1st 3 days after surgery. I was sent home with a prescription for oral pain medication to take. That was it. -
How Bad Is The First 6 Weeks Postop?
innerme replied to ma46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit 5 weeks tomorrow since I had surgery. The 1st week all I did was sleep. 2nd week I was a bit better but still very tired and sore. 3rd week felt alot better until 2 days before I hit my 4th week and all of a sudden I had some extreme pain occur on the left side of my stomach area that hurt even to the touch, Dr sd it is normal when things are healing. 4th week still had pain until mid week and had to take pain meds to eleviate. No pain at all last 4 days. Will start back to work tomorrow. Biggest issue is I run out of steam pretty quick, I get tired very easily and have to sit down alot because I start feeling weak. -

I Propose We Start A Thread For June Sleevers That.....
innerme replied to blondeej's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all June sleevers, I'm just wondering about something. My waist area has not changed but just a tiny bit but everywhere else I have lost a great deal of inches. I can't even go down in my pant size because of my waist If my waist was trimming down as fast as my hips, legs, and behind I probably could go down 2 sizes in my clothing. My clothing looks really baggy but because of my waist not changing I'm just having to deal with the bagginess. My thought is that I'm still swollen (I'm hoping this is the case) and was wondering if any one else was experiencing the same thing? When did you see your swelling go down? -

Vsg And Hiatal Hernia Repair - Cigna Insurance
innerme replied to UTGal99's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Cigna and never was a issue with the hiatal repair coverage. I had already seen a dr and they had already advised to have surgery to repair. It was cheaper for the insurance this away anyway because it's one surgery instead of 2. My surgery was in June. -
the site looks fine and I don't feel anything under the skin. It's really strange, the pain is very intense if I am sitting straight up or walking.
-
I had my surgery on June 18th and a couple of nights ago I developed a pain in my left side starting just a little above the incision site of where they took my stomach out of . The pain has progressively gotten worse yesterday and today to the point even to touch the area with my hand is painful. The pain is close to the level it was when I came home from the hospital. Has any one else experienced this? I'm planning on calling the Doctor tomorrow if it isn't any better.

I was suprised I was not having a huge issue as I expected from everything everyone had been saying about the pain in drinking. I drink everything out of my water bottle that has a small round opening on the top and I guess that has been keeping me from getting air in. Last week I grabbed a glass and drank some water and I was like oh my god i'm having a heart attack the pain was so excruciating. no more drinking from glasses for me. This water bottle is stuck to me like glue now.
