    Gmanbat: What A Loser!

Thanks! We're determined to be that old couple that dresses too young and acts 1/2 our age, annoying the concrete thinkers among the youngsters.

    When Did You Feel Yourself?

I am not offended at all. I have been wondering about it myself. While considering it tonight I think I figured it out. I went through 45 external beam radiation treatments in 2009 for prostate cancer. I know it weakened my hip muscles, that was evident early on. I believe it weakened my lower stomach muscles as well. As I exercise it is getting better, just very slowly. So my experience may very well not be yours as I believe the soreness is not related to the sleeve.

  6. I so identify with you on vacation loses. I do it every time, even just on weekend excursions. My wife thinks it is because I don't snack in between meals. Could be.

    Yayyyyyyyyyyyy Me:-)

Yaaaaaaay, you!!! My yaaays occured when I broke the 20's, (220's). I haven't been there since the 1970's.
  8. Taking time between swallows is something I've done since the beginning. When I first forced the water down I noticed that a small burp occured after each swallow. Now I wait for them before the next bite. They don't always come but I give them time.

    When Did You Feel Yourself?

How long until I felt good? Pretty much right away. But I am speaking of the help of morphine and later Lortab. Being a child of the 60's I know how to ride the chemicals. As far as getting back to "normal" it hasn't happened yet but that's a good thing in my case. My dear wife helped me for 2 weeks which, of course, I milked for all it was worth. I can't identify with a C-section but this was much easier than my appendectomy that I had at age 13 and about the same as my gall bladder removal that occurred shortly before my sleeving. The soreness in my abdomen can be felt when I do exercise even at 8 months out. I take it easy on push-ups and no crunches.

    Prayers

    Prayers for you, Alex.
  12. The sad truth is that smart people are a rarity. Thinking requires effort and is a necessary prelude to knowing what your talking about. Intellectual laziness is the scourge of our population and the vehicle that manipulators rely upon. I would guess that the nurses did no research prior to their inappropriate spoutings. But then, they have the title,"nurse" and therefore feel that they are entitled to sit on the bench judging all things medical. We should not let ourselves be bothered by folks who think being sleeved was an act of laziness. We know better. The real laziness resides in their near dormant brains.

    Over 60 And Ready

I am 63, wife is 61. I was sleeved Jan. 16, 2012, she got Roux N Y in Nov. 2011. We are both in single digits to our goal. She has shed diabetes, sleep apnea, and high cholesteral. I got rid of high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and diabetes. This is the best move we ever made together except for getting married.
  14. Exercise is going well! 1/2 hour walk with 15 pound kettlebell, Bodyblade, push-ups, and kneebends with the kettlebell. Tired but happy.

  15. To know about my operation is a priviledge I grant to those I deem worthy. I am under no obligation to tell. I run my own mouth and my own life and form my own self image which, by the way, in no way hinges on anyone's opinion but mine and God's. I did my research, said my prayers, and took my chances. It turned out good. If someone expresses opposition to how I lost weight they can expect my respectful attention but they need not expect me to express shame. There is no shame. I am proud of my decisive action and for taking responsibility for my life.

    Feeling Really Down

Yes, crying causes headaches. I found that out at the end of Titanic when the old lady threw the diamond into the sea. Noooooo...! That's why us guys hate to cry. It's not because we're tough, we hate pain.

    Feeling Really Down

Eating is like a lover, easily accessible and faithful to temporarily fill your emotional hunger. Now you have gone to divorce court, you could no longer live with the devastation the relationship was causing to your health and life. Grief is inevitable like it is for any relationship. People seldom divorce without missing at least a little what they had before, especially when they see others enjoying their relationships. I can tell you that you will find new loves. This time your new food relationship will not be destructive but beneficial. Food will not smother you with quantity but you will enjoy it as it meets your physical needs. Your emotional needs will be met in other pursuits, ones that were overlooked and stifled by food obsession. After an initial period of re-education, food will be less and less on your mind. You will be free to explore yourself and the world around you and joy will spring up. I can understand what you are going through. My TV was set firmly on the Food Channel 24/7 both before and for weeks after my sleeving. Eventually it lost its appeal and my mind turned to God, family, friends, and fun. When my new formerly buried body surfaced, exercise became a passion as the anchor of weight was cut away. Moving my body around became fun again and I looked for reasons to do it. I think some lyrics from the George Harrison song work well with us WLS people: Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear Here comes the sun Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right
  19. Melatonin does indeed give you livid dreams. I just got used to them. I haven't had what I call nightmares in a long time, at least while asleep. Those occur during my waking hours as my wife forces me to watch Dancing With the Stars.
  20. Melatonin helped me. I worked 2 jobs, 3rd and 1rst full shifts and was coming apart because I got no sleep in the little window left. Melatonin saved me. Here is a good article on its proper use and benefits: http://www.talkabout...n-correctly.htm note: make sure your bedroom is dark!

    Is This Condidered Exercise ?

I think you are most definitely on the right track. That much activity plus the workouts will pay off for you. I lose weight just going to theme parks and walking around. Your day is much more intense. I would be concerned about how much rest you get. Are you sleeping well and long enough? Adequate rest is a factor that is overlooked in weight loss many times.

    Lifted Too Much Weight

I am 8 months out and still feel a pull and general weakness from my abdomen area when I stress it. I can only do on the knees push ups because on the toes push ups hurt too much.
