Sorry to hear what happened. Being ashamed is not going to help you, put that behind you. Other emotions are more useful. Be angry with fat, not yourself. Love yourself and be your own best friend and trainer. I suggest you attack exercising with a vengeance. Don't exercise to lose weight, become a life-long trained athlete. It takes on a life of it's own when you stay at it. It becomes a magnificent obsession, much fun, and takes the place of overeating. When you exercise in the right way you become aware of what foods help you recover and which ones make you weak. Well, what do ya know, the foods that make you strong are the ones you should be eating anyway! Proteins, complex carbs, water, vitamins, minerals all build you up. Sugary, fatty foods become yucky. Your tool will still work for you if YOU work for you!

Ya, me too. I hope someday to reach the level of "Extreme Buttinski"

Rough one, Rootman. You handled yourself well. I can't say what I would have done in this case. Hopefully I would not feel the need to defend myself against an absolute idiot unless he tried to seriously harm me. But adrenaline is adrenaline. You stayed out of jail. When I walk away from something like this that's what I congratulate myself for. Good work.

64 ounces of water and 60 grams of Protein - Are you kidding?
gmanbat replied to GraceAbounds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are we brothers? Sorry about the flip, can't get my ipad to act right. -
Ah, yes. The perk of low volume consumption. We are those annoying ones that can go with a group to a resturaunt and order Water, counting on the generosity of the big eaters to give us a bite here and there. When we do order something, we quarter it and save 3/4 for future meals. Hey, we don't need massive fuel. We are driving a sleek Maserati, not a million pound truck.

I get a fast heart rate and a clammy, sweaty feeling when I eat a high sugar item. My wife made these delicious cake puffs made with velvet cake mixed with frosting. They are quite irresistable but were made for the non-bariatric among us. One of them overcame me and I paid dearly for my lack of fortitude.

Anyone else get cold really easy since the surgery?
gmanbat replied to elisa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went almost coatless in Ohio. Lost 110 pounds and moved to Florida. Now I get cold, have to put on an extra blanky. I miss my fat overcoat like a paper cut with lemon juice. Cold I can take. -
I've lost 20 pounds this month. Unfortunately it is the same 2-3 pounds that I lost before and gained back over and over. But, and a very big but, I am still getting thinner. I am getting down to the place where my unattractive areas have become one area, my lower belly. It seems the fat has retreated there for a last stand with it's ally, loose skin. The battle continues.

Most whey powder has little fat in it especially mixed with skim milk or water. The protein in it makes it worth the calories consumed. Protein helps you lose weight and stay healthy.
-
What is your starting weight? 25 pounds is a good loss. Also, a week stall is quite common. If it were me I would try to get something besides protein in, like some vegetables or some light fiber like benefiber. Elimination is a good thing. Just protein can bind you up and stall you even with all the water you drink.

Beautiful area!!!! So much to do, too! That area was my pick for where to move to from Ohio but I have a family with say-so and Dade City worked out better for us,....for now.
-
Prayers for you from Dade City, a bit northeast of you I think. I went through those emotions as well. I am 10 months out, 108 pounds down from starting weight, 2 pounds from goal, and enjoying much outside exercise in the glorious Florida sun. Do you live down by Sarasota?

Sleevy needs to heal. You won't stretch it but you don't want to put it in distress.

Yup, I used to put the 2 scoops of whey in milk making the 50+ grams until I realized I was only expanding my calories needlessly and the dividend returns for whey company stockholders.

too many diets to follow
gmanbat replied to Catherine Shinn Habhab's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'd elect the daughter to help with dad's diet. Your son and you are on a similar diet and your meals can pretty much be prepared at the same time. My prayers for your husband that his transplant be soon. -
Nobody seems to be addressing my ADDICTION to food...
gmanbat replied to NurseMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Passion is the energy of life. It is directed love. The passion that we have for food is still passion. We don't need to do away with passion. We need to make it a servant. Redirected, passion is power. We need to focus on the use of food's energy, not put all of our energy into getting more food. Too much food did not give us more energy, it robbed us of it. Now we will get less food and do much more with it. We were stuck in a room with a TV that ran the same show over and over and over. Now we turn the TV off and go out into the big world where possibilities are endless and we are free to explore ourselves and our abilities. Find something beneficial to focus your passion on. Make food energy your servant. -
Jealous boyfriend cannot handle my weight loss!
gmanbat replied to MsFab1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's it, T3. From the viewpoint of a father of a girl that married an emotionally stunted, self-centered, girly man who put her through hours and hours of verbal abuse before she finally was rid of him...it is so not worth it. Unless you want to be his therapist for the rest of your life find a MAN. -
Awww..ya killjoy! You're right, of course. Free is free. I am an addictive kinda guy. Proved that in the 60's and beyond. I guess coffee is methadone for me. No excuses.

http://www.mayoclini...-drinks/AN01661 I've been seeing ads that say cola and coffee drinks hydrate you as well as Water does. Is this true? Answer from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D. It is true. Researchers used to believe that caffeinated drinks had a diuretic effect. This means that you would urinate more after drinking them, which could increase your risk of becoming dehydrated. Recent research shows that this is not true and that caffeine has a diuretic effect only if you consume large amounts of it — more than 500 to 600 milligrams (the equivalent of 5 to 7 cups of coffee) a day. Still, caffeinated drinks can make you jittery, sleepless or anxious. Water is probably your best bet to stay hydrated. It's calorie-free, caffeine-free, inexpensive and readily available. Perhaps our sleeve makes us a bit different than the guinea pig folks they tested.

http://www.webmd.com/balance/caffeine-myths-and-facts?page=2 Caffiene in coffee doesn't dehydrate but doesn't add Water either. It breaks even. Coffee has bit of acid, though. Outside of that, coffee Beans are good for human beans.

So scared I don't think I can do it!
gmanbat replied to Melanie Gilgan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 63, my BMI was barely over 40 when I was sleeved in January. I've lost over 100 pounds from before I stared preparing for the journey, kicked diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, not to mention the other numerous agonies that accompanied obesity. My BMI is down to around 28. I know that if I could have eaten what I have eaten and exercised over this period the same result would have happened without the operation. I am also certain that hunger would have made that as possible as being elected the king of Bulgaria. -

My CRAZY Boyfriend's Idea For Jello!
gmanbat replied to Beckyyb93's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Ok, I told my wife about your boyfriends ideas and my ideas and she gave me that "men are such goofs" laugh. Then she reminded me that Protein powder coagulates in hot Water. She said that to make Jello you dissolve the jello powder in hot water and when it is totally dissolved you pour cold water in. You should dissolve the Protein Powder completely in the cold water before you pour it in with the hot water and jello concoction. It should be dispersed pretty well. She also suggested just making the jello normally and mix the protein powder into sugar free Cool Whip to use as a topping. I know nothing of these things. I just eat stuff. -

Darn! I thought I could go back to bed and then I thought of this weasel ball toy I saw at Cracker Barrel. http://www.amazon.com/Weazel-Ball-The-Weasel-Rolls/dp/B000PNFZ3E The ball wil roll continually in the pan. Hopefully, it is waterproof or you could make it so. Be sure to remove the weasel first. -
My CRAZY Boyfriend's Idea For Jello!
gmanbat replied to Beckyyb93's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I got up at 3:00 A.M. and made the mistake of deciding to check this forum. Unfortunately, I saw this thread and true to my nature had to go on a solution hunt for the next hour. I tried automatic stirrers but the cheap ones were useless and the good ones were not battery driven. I looked at rock tumblers too, also not battery driven. I liked your boyfriend's solution but had to see what else I could come up with. Here: http://www.grabcart....rror-Ball-Motor is a battery driven, rotating mirror ball motor which may be used to rotate anything you can hang under it. If your fridge is the type that uses grates just hang it in there attached to a tinkertoy or otherwise constructed shaft with paddles at the end which stirs the jello-powder mixture you have in a round pan. When you don't need jello you can put a mirror ball up in the room and dance to BeeGee music.
