At mine I got the impression they wanted me to come up severe, and I did. I had just gotten over pneumonia, they knew that, and they made me sleep on my back which I never do. Anyway, the CPAP is in the closet now, rendered unemployed by the sleeve.

Ain't it a rush?! When I realized I could run again I felt like I went back in time. My wind is inexhaustible. Only my old leg muscles are holding me back. I am building them up slowly.

Chat rooms are not for me. It's like being in a hotel and everybody's intercom is piped into your room. Ya, I've popped in at times and noticed the sparkin' . Get a room guys, (not chat).

My wife and I were both severe, we have both kicked the machines. -
I think I am a slow loser...help!

Your post is a good one. I can eat anything as well, but then, I have always been that way. Some foods, (spicy, too dense, such as steak), give me trouble afterward. The grazing is the secret way the fat sneaks back on. I defeat it by having alternative things to put down my neck. Water is the #1 defeater of grazing. Keep a bottle in your hand as much as possible. Resist the temptation to throw it at bratty little boys. Oops, I had a flash from the past. sugar free drinks help if you get sick of water. I like the flavored waters. Be sure to get in your Protein Snacks on time depending on the plan they put you on. -
I will talk to you now as if you were my daughter: You are wonderful and a treasure. It is a priviledge just to be around you. If the man doesn't treat you with respect and kindness he disqualifies himself, he is unworthy. Deal with him as you have to for the sake of your child but give him no access to your emotional well being. Love yourself, darling, be good to yourself and expect others to do the same, you deserve it.

Many folks have a threshold in which self interest overrides compassion. In the case of many men, reaching that threshold is as easy as scratching their rear.

Gallbladder Surgery...gone horribly wrong!
gmanbat replied to Lissa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear about your GB troubles. Mine acted up and had to go 2 weeks before the VSG and they couldn't slide the 2 operations together. So they opened me up twice. I sure felt better without the GB, though. That brat had caused me problems for quite a while I think. I'll be praying that all goes well. -
I suffer from constant shzzshzshhzzzzsh as well. I have always blamed it on the rock band I was in in the 60's. I ignore it most of the time but listening now I believe it has diminished a bit. The weight loss and better diet may have had an effect. I have heard there are new supplements out there that can help. I have not researched them as yet to determine if they are yet more attempts to fish out my dollars with no return on investment.

I dunno,.. this is one of the nicest Care Bear-Rainbow Brite sweetness forums I've ever been on. But then, being a MAN and a dullard as well I don't know there's a problem until the fry pan bounces off my head.

That's a big one, GingerRN. My insurance company paid for my operation but refused to pay for the anesthetic, over $3,000. Something about the anesthesiologists didn't put down the right code numbers. I could get noone to help me, no way to contact the rubes at the hospital.. They fought me for many months but finally paid. Then I had to prove to the doofus anesthesiologists that they did pay, they kept billing me. -
I think my scale is broken
gmanbat replied to slatter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you doing some walking? How about elimination, on track? Benefiber lightens a person up when things are clogged. Of course, Water drinking too. That is really not a bad loss. Comparing yourself to others on the forum is not always wise. Different starting weights, metabolisms, genetics, etc. many factors influence weight loss rate. Be assured, if you keep doing the right things, the fat will come off. Our bodies have a mind of their own. They are not easily trained but are capable of being changed if you have the patience. Give yourself time. I gained my weight over 20 years. Losing it in 1-2 years is a bargain. -

I am wearing jeans with no belt. No beachball belly pushing my pants down. Hip bones actually doing the job. The exception is the jean shorts I put on this morning. I bought them a few months ago and now they are too big, needed a belt. Another month and they will be displayed at the Goodwill. -
Suggestions for a great UNFLAVORED Protein powder
gmanbat replied to TheCurvyJones's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I've gone through vast quantities of NOW brand, Whey Protein Isolate natural unflavored. It probably has some flavor but not enough to bother me. It is pretty inexpensive, too. -
Newly sleeved and just found these forums.

What a great first post! WELCOME! It sounds like you are in this to win, good for you. You can do it! -
My wife and I both had WLS, she had a gastric bypass, I had the sleeve, She and I are both within 2 pounds of our goals, she is at 13 months, I am at 11 months out. I am 64 she is 61, We have both lost over 100 pounds since we started the program. I did what exercise I could at the start of the program and turned it up as I felt better. There is no big hurry here, we have the rest of our lives. Now I exercise like an athlete; push-ups, knee bends with weights, running and walking with weights, bodyblade, stretchy tubes, kettlebells, and swimming. I have stalled at 2 pounds over goal and my weight goes between 222 and 226 and back down again. I don't care about the stall, I am gaining muscle and losing fat. I am thinner and my clothes fit perfectly. I don't even have to wear a belt anymore. The only problem I have with my wife is that she looks fabulous in everything she tries on at the store, a bit hard on the charge cards. Last night I got her 3 blouses that she looked stunning in, luckily we were at Ross's and not Sach's. Walking is a great exercise but not the only effective one. Upper body exercises can be done even sitting. Do what you can do and increase as you can. When more weight comes off it will get easier.

Welcome! I am glad you joined the forum. I hope your complications are few and beatable. -
KarissaKhaos , It is cool that instead of just complaining of a stall you are looking for action to defeat it. Good for you. I don't belong to a gym, when I did I did not go enough to justify the expense. For me, home based workouts do the trick. None of the... it's too cold, nothing to wear, car's out of gas, too crowded there today, etc. excuses. I walk and run around the neighborhood throwing around a 20 pound kettle bell. I do push-ups, squats with weight, bodyblade, stretchy tubes, and occasional swimming in the pool, (Florida). My kids keep me going with marathon walks at theme parks and shopping centers which are numerous here in paradise. I think about the timing of turning it up a notch. This is a lifetime commitment for me so I am in no hurry. When the exercise gets too easy, I put on more weight or more or different exercises. I also vary my routines to keep the body off balance. I have stalled at 2 pounds over goal for 2 months now but I haven't stalled the fat loss. The belly is going down and muscle cuts and ribs are showing up. Muscle is going on, fat is going off. The scale can kiss my rock hard backside.

Welcome!!! My wife and I both went through WLS. The pain was less than expected, the benefits more than expected. Her hair got thin for a while but got better. Mine got a bit thin but I'm 64 and could be hereditary. I don't feel like I'm dieting. It's just a new eating pattern which I am at peace with. The new slim body is so worth not chomping endlessly at meal time.

Chelsey and Teribearyy, I'm a 64 year old guy who went through cancer treatment which devastated my body. I am 11 months out and working out like I'm 30. I lost over 100 pounds and healed up pretty quickly from the operation. If I can do well, so can you. Everyone is different but I'd put money on the odds that those young bodies are going to do quite well. Elasticity and quick recovery are in your corner. Use your new life well, young ladies. Conquer your bodies with your minds. We are here to help you if you need it.
-
Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon. I have never heard of being young as a reason for a sore throat or noise when you swallow. But I am no doctor. Yes, each person is different.

Belligerent bellies balk. First on, last off. I've got a six-pack under this belly blubber blanket.
