It does look good! I will turn this recipe over to my wife. I am too lazy to try and find chia seeds and quinoa.
-
I asked my wife who also had WLS if we had any lack of support from anyone. She said, "We didn't ask any one's permission!" That about sums it up. Don't be sheepish. Tell em like you know what you are doing and not like you are looking for approval. This surgery is a journey of discovery in many ways. You will discover what it is like to be in the non-normal world. You don't fit right in anymore, and when people find it out they can be like bratty little boys poking you with a stick. Being "normal" is not a virtue, especially given the state of our society. I've jumped out of the herd many times, this jump was a smart one. I love it when folks say, "Easy way out" as if the word easy was a cuss word. I demand the keys to their car and tell them I'll be over tomorrow to pick up their washer and dryer.
-
Everyone close to me knows. My surgery is a test for them, not me. Do they have enough brains to grasp what I did? Do they have enough character to be tolerant of what they don't understand and do research to educate themselves? Do they love me enough to wish me well without jealousy? If not, they are free to situate themselves where I ain't. I have absolutely no guilt about doing this, I am proud of it and myself for doing it, it took guts. It is not an act of weakness. I took charge, had faith, and I'm aggressively pursuing health. What's to be ashamed of?

Pregnancy claims another sleever
gmanbat replied to FishingNurse's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congratulations and whew! Your title: Pregnancy claims another sleever, made me think pregnancy killed her and that sleevers are prone to pregnancy deaths. It is a relief to know the truth, I am too young to die. -
Angelamarie79, check out the statistics on my signature. I have passed my goal weight and am now concentrating on muscle growth to insure that Mr. Fats does not return. Yes, it happened many times. Gaining, stalling, losing, gaining back, losing more, etc. In the long graph the trend was always downward. In short samplings, I looked like a failure many times. Doing the right things makes it inevitable that you will reach your goal. Science is on your side, not infomercial science, the real McCoy.

This has happened to me if I eat too close to bedtime. It does wake one up. I have not taken it as a serious problem. Your stomach is mighty touchy right now.

A $2,000 Bill in the mail
gmanbat replied to ortega07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through that 3 times, one gall bladder removal and 2 wls. The insurance company said the people at anethesia didn't fill out paperwork right. The anesthesia people wouldn't talk to me. Back and forth with the insurance company. They won't talk to each other which would solve the problem but they are knuckleheads. It went on for many months. I think I've finally defeated them. It was $3,000 a whack. Keep making phone calls until you get someone with a brain in their head. -

Scale tells truth but not whole truth. Much more involved than a number.

Spouses reaction 2 weight loss
gmanbat replied to tpietrowski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What is considered too much? That would vary greatly depending on who you talk to. Maybe this difference is where the trouble lies? I come from an ultra conservative culture, so my version of too much would be quite different than most. SummersGirl I guess it depends on the situation, setting, and culture like you said. In Cocoa Beach walking around in a swimming suit is ignored. Do it on the streets of my home town and you would be descended upon like buzzards on a freshly road-killed muskrat. -
Loved your post! By the looks of it you don't need any help defending yourself. Some suggestions: I can't eat finger food, I'm so hungry I might bite them off. Thanks for your concern about my eating. How are your bowel movements? I have to stop at the pet store for some new gold fish. I fried up the old ones last night. I have to wear a mask in the summer. I'm afraid I'll breathe in a gnat and wreck my diet. Could you sit with me at lunch? I'm afraid (food name) might not sit well and I need help cleaning up the projectile vomiting. Yes, my diet is going well. My love life is ok too except I only have enough energy for 2 kisses and one longing gaze.

Spouses reaction 2 weight loss

My daughter is in advertising. She designs ads for companies both large and small. The ads have less than a second to send a message and attract the right kind of attention. Immediate impression is everything. As we all know, the world is full of shallow people. Looking past appearances is something most people have not the desire to do. They judge you by how you look and accordingly how that look jives with their past experiences. Men like their wives to look sexy. In public, they like their wives to look classy. Sexiness is classy when it is not flaunted and it still comes through. Too much gratuitous skin exhibition just says cheap and desperate and makes him embarrassed for you. It may even get your man into fights with jerks. We love you and don't want animals defiling you with their eyes. Makes us want to punch them out. All I'm saying is give us a break. You have a new deluxe frame that makes your man proud that you are on his arm. We love it but don't want to go to jail defending your honor. -

Picture Progress, Still a ways to go
gmanbat replied to nursemeg89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is very common. A combination of the drugs and lack of input brought my system to a halt for quite a while. It eventually kicked in. -
Darn, odd man out again. I like plain yogurt. I know it's yucky but you have to know me. When I hate something I am fascinated by it and keep eating or drinking it until I figure out why I hate it or I start to like it. I learned to like okra, pizza, anchovies, wine, garlic, sour apples, kumquats, raw soy Beans, and plain yogurt. It's just another form of cottage cheese to me.

New whey protein shot 42g
gmanbat replied to kcinpa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen liquid protein shots made of desiccated animal parts and they were a new level of nasty. If these are made somehow from whey that would be amazing. -

Took up dancing yesterday morning. I was putting seed in my bird feeder and felt a little tickle on my feet. I looked down and they were covered with fire ants. The little demons stealthily crawl on you and then, by chemical cue, all bite at once. They had just started the asault when I saw them so I did my foot slapping dance and jumped around like a chimp on angel dust. They put some minor welts on me but nothing serious. They have attacked me before and I had sores that took months to heal....
